Black Screen Issue

I have the Hp 14-b010us and I have a problem with the screen. I've had the computer for about a year now and it worked perfectly until now. Whenever I try to start the computer up the power button blinks and the caps lock light flashes slowly  but I can't hear the fan and the screen won't turn on. I have already tried the unplug the ac adaptor and battery and press the power button for 1 minute and then try but it wouldn't work so it would be really helpful if someone could solve this. Thanks :smileyhappy:

CQ61-410US Monitor turns off after bootup Windows 7

CQ61-410US running Windows 7

Laptop starts up fine getting all the way to the login screen; no alarms or error messages.

Whether you login or not the display will dim after about 15 seconds and turn completely off in about another 5 seconds.

If I connect an external monitor the screen will come back on along with the external monitor, but will turn off again leaving the external monitor on by itself.

If I unplug the external monitor the screen will turn back on, but again turn off after about the same amount of time elapses.

For testing purposes I set the Power Saving settings that effect the computer going to sleep or turning the monitor off are all set to 'never'.

The computer can be used in this condition if I wanted a desktop, but that isn't the way it is supposed to work, or the way it used to work.

External LCD Monitor flickers, screen turns black, when connected to HP Laptop

For a couple of months, my 22 inch external LCD screen flickers when connected to my HP Elitebook 8540p with Nvidia NVS 5100m Graphics Card.  However, the internal screen on my laptop itself does not experience the same problem. So I went to purchase another 27inch Samsung LED monitor to connect to my laptop. I set the resolution to the maximum and the same problem of flickering persists. Change the resolution lower, and I experience less flickering. A few days ago, my new Samsung LED would not even startup. I connected the Samsung LED to another HP Pavilion dv9605tx laptop and experience only very minor flickering when resolution set to max, otherwise low resolution display have no flickering problem. I tried swapping VGA cables but my HP Elitebook 8540p still has the same flickering / black screen problem with any of the 2 monitors.  I suspect that the  VGA port of my NVS 5100m graphics card is screwed, or is it an overclocking issue. My HP Elitebook 8540p still has 1 more year of warranty.

Please help!!!

Shame...

It is a real shame that HP does not answer to my requests for support (made through all possible means: forum, email, phone call and use of an HP supplier technician) since November 2013. My problem is basic (driver issue) and apparently common to numerous HP clients. All my personal and professional hardware is HP (from high end laptop to mouse). I will certainly choose another brand for my next purchases.

Black Screen--Windows Starts, BIOS accessed, Drivers updated

$

Goodmorning; I know this is a common issue and have read all the support files and posts associated with it (that I could find).  It's possible I've missed something and if so, I apologize for asking a duplicate question.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX PC Notebook Series.  Windows 7, 64-bit, The warrenty is expired.

When starting up my screen remains black and backlit. So, when pushing the power button, the power LCD lights come on, the screen itself turns from p ure black to a backlit grey.

There are no blinking caps lock or num lock LCDs--They are fully functional as Caps Lock and Num Lock, they will come on or off if I push them, but they are not blinking a hardware malfunction code.

Windows also appears/sounds to start up normally. The wireless adapter LCD turns blue, accessing internet. Windows startup sounds. I can blindly input my password and access my desktop. I can also blindly shut down normally.

I am also able to blindly access the BIOS with the f10 key, but since I am not able to navigate, the timer continues and Windows starts up.

I can attach an external monitor and have normal display on the External but only the greyed out backlit display on Notebook.

I have checked all display and adapter drivers for updates. Windows reports they are the most current updated drivers. I did not force a new update by downloading one; I trusted the automatic driver search. Is this still a possible issue?

I have also attempted to display the Notebook in low resolution. When I change the resolution, the Notebook display AND External monitor blink off--total blackness--in sync, to change the resolution then blink back on with the resolution changed.  Although the resolution is changed on the External, the Notebook remains greyed out backlit and never shows normal desktop (not even a flicker during change).

I have concluded it's not a memory issue since I am starting Windowns normally and able to completely utilize the computer with an external monitor. Is this still a possible issue?

At this point, the FAQ's say I should call HP technical support but that I will have to pay for help.

Does anyone know if I've missed something before I have to take out my wallet?

Thanks!

Blank screen after first start and after sleeping mode

$

Dear all,

I have updated my HP Pavilion dv6 3190ed to Windows 8.1 (originally Windows 7). When I try to start my laptop I get a blank/black screen for the first time. The power light is on and I can hear the laptop running but no display. But after I perform a hard reset (press power button for a few secs and then press power button once again to turn laptop on) it works. This is really anoying.

Same problem occurres when I close the laptop when still running to have it go to sleeping mode. I cannot get it restarted and continue working after opening the laptop again. The same happens: blank/black screen, power light on and engine running...

Maybe it has something to do with the following? After I updated to Windows 8.1, the driver of the AMD graphic card was missing (although I also have a Intel graphic card; is this normal, two cards?), as well as a device called PCI Express Root Complex (?). I have updated the driver software for AMD via its official website and downloaded the driver for PCI via the HP website. This should be OK, because now I do not have a question mark anymore in Device Manager, should it?

Can anyone please help?

Thanks a million!

Cheers,

Thomas

Laptop screen completely white

I accidently splashed a fair bit of water on my HP Pavillion dv6 yesterday.  All the water fell on the display.  I wiped it off quickly and didn't think much about it, continuing to use the laptop.  However, today,  when I turn the laptop on, the screen is completely white.  There is nothing ever on the display, ever.  The laptop still works fine as I'm typing this from my laptop connected to an external display.

I disassembled the laptop to reseat the display cable since some Google searches suggested that might the problem, but that didn't seem to help.  My question is, does anyone have any experience with this?  Is this likely to be a problem with the ribbon cable or the display itself?  Is there any way to tell short of replacing the cable?

DV7-6135DX... this one has me baffled

$

I'm looking forward to some input on an issue that has me baffled. First, let me say that I have a hardware background and have repaired many HP notebooks but never have I come across this issue.

turn on the notebook, boots fine, video becomes intermittent and will sometimes stay on for hours, other times it goes off in 5 minutes, but when hooking an external monitor it's fine.... Ok. so that tells me most likely its in the display itself., but there is more

So I boot it up cold, watch a two hour video without issue on the local display, then reboot it and nothing, I really mean nothing, no power, no attempt to boot, no lights, no fans, nothing. I remove and reset the battery, reset power cord, (which by the way, does have a light at the plug indicating power, but nothing else. after reseting everything, still nothing. then walk away for awhile and come back, press the power and bingo.

It's confusion because it seems like two seperate issues but i don't think so as it all started at the same time.

I'm open to any ideas.

Thanks,

TC

Video driver update - HP dv7-4280us

I'm trying to update my video drivers -- the drivers on my PC are dated 09/09/2010, and I'm having problems with running some software that driver updates are supposed to fix.  I've run the HP software to automatically detect my machine and let me know what drivers need to be updated, and it says I have the latest drivers.  Can this really be true, no updates to the display drivers for over 3 years.  I'd very much appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.

DV6 Broken LCD can't see bios on external

$

I have a DV6 and the LCD is broken so I want to get it working just through an external monitor.  Problem is, I was trying to install a new OS (pro tip: don't let your mother in law near a computer) because the old one was borked up, but now it won't send anything to the external.  It worked previously, but now when I turn it on it just sits there.  I've tried everything.  Tried getting the bios to load blind, unplugged and even removed the LCD.  Nothing works.  I don't even know how to boot from a DVD to get the installer for my new OS going (hoping it might pick up the screen).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
