Screen flashing when lid moved + device dis-/reconnect sound

Hi everyone,

I'm having a serious problem with my ProBook 450 G3 (Full HD).

Sometimes when tilting the lid, the screen turns off and on again several times, with the Windows device disconnect and connect sound playing. Sometimes this also happens unprovoked and often three, four times in a row. Then it doesn't happen again for 20 minutes or so, no matter if I move the screen or not.

I have sent my laptop to HP for repair twice, the first time it came back saying they exchanged the connector, the second time it came back saying they couldn't replicate the problem. I always removed my SSD because it was not part of the original package and I was fairly certain it was a hardware issue because I:

- had un- and re-installed the video driver several times and tried different versions

- formatted the device and re-installed Windows 10 from scratch each time I got it back from HP.

I read somewhere that it might be an issue with the fingerprint scanner, however I also tried deactivating and uninstalling the driver (keeps re-installing itself upon reboot), and this did not change anything.

Before sending it back to HP again (this time I would want it replaced), I want to explore some options. I know this is a tough one because it happens randomly and sometimes not for an hour, so it is very hard to replicate and figure out exactly where the problem lies. Any ideas?

[UPDATE 7 Jan] I am now 99% confident that it is in fact a software problem: The problem just appeared again and did not stop. I was able to simply reboot, once it had closed all applications and went into the Windows "Restarting..." screen, the problem disappeared and was also gone when windows had rebooted. But to be honest, I have no clue whatsoever how to figure out which application/driver causes the problem.

Ho appena aggiornato Windows 10 sul mio pavilion 15bc011nl, e ho subito riscontrato il problema del touchpad: posso solo muovermi e selezionare, mentre prima avevo le "gesture" multitouch (con 4 dita aprivo il pannello delle notifiche, con 3 dita aprico cortana). Come posso risolvere questo grande e fastidioso problema?

I've had my computer for a while with no problems, but recently the screen has stared flickering with the white lines. I to move the screen to just the right position for it to stop. If move in the slightest then the flickering starts again.
Does anyone know what would cause this?

All of a sudden In the past couple of months my browser(s) will intermittently flicker violently while streaming movies over the Internet from my ISP, to the point that it makes it difficult to use the mouse to close the browser; I am not talking about the movie, but the entire browser will flicker. I imagine a Windows or program update probably caused the problem, but with so many programs it would be hard to isolate the offending piece of software. The fact that it is intermittent further puts a wrench into troubleshooting the problem. I found that disabling hardware acceleration (Also known as GPU rendering) on each of my browsers (IE, Edge, Chrome and Firefox) fixes the problem for good. Unfortunately, the side effect is that the movies become very choppy due to the lack of hardware acceleration. I have the latest video drivers, it doesn't matter what wifi I am streaming from, and task manager doesn't show an overloaded system. Is there a way to fix this without disabling hardware acceleration?

My laptop has an Intel HD Graphics 530. I purchased a gopro camera to shoot in 4k resolution. After talking to go pro, it was determined that i need a video card of 1gig or higher. It was recommended that I could purchase an external video card. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I have an 8 month old HP Spectre x360 laptop (model 15-ap012dx) which I generally use every day. This week I travelled on business (the laptop was shutdown and closed on my office desk).

When I came home and opened the screen, I found that the screen was cracked starting just to the right of the webcam at the top of the screen.

A chat session with an HP support rep, and I was informed that they would only repair at my cost. An escalation phone call recieved and I was offered a $514 repair with expedited shipping. When I refused, a 20% discount was offered.

My company and I have used HP computers for many years, and this quite unacceptable.

I have bought a new laptop Hp Pavilion 15t-au100 CTO with WINDOWS 10 64 Bit. My problem is that my screen blinks sometimes or most of the time its turn off but in the bachground system is running . Windows Hello setup is not working on my new HP ENVY 15t laptop.

On the initial power up and if I try to configure it manually under

Windows 10 settings, I get the following error:

Sorry, something went wrong
Couldn't turn on the camera. Make sure it is working properly.

I tried using HP Support Assistant to resolve this but they were unable

to get it to work. One thing they tried to do was to install the Intel

RealSense device driver on it which failed. Is that the type of IR camera

that is in this notebook or is it another brand?

Under Windows Device Manager -> Imaging devices it has only an

"HP TrueVision HD" device listed and the device driver is up to date.

Is this the correct device entry if I ordered the following camera option?

I received this 11 inch as a Christmas gift and this unit suddenly won't charge or power on. I noticed that other individuals in the forum have had similiar issues and the only resolve was to send the unit in for warranty repair. I tried contacting HP Support/repair and I have yet to get this isssue reosolved. I am offered to have the unit replaced for $179.99 which is what I DO NOT consider a resolution as that is the cost of a new model. What are other alternatives.

i have 43" non brand china LED smart tv & Asus core i3 laptop with windows 10. when i try to connect them using HDMI cable, it showed black screen with audio on my led tv. no video. i changed several cable but same problem. i also check another brand led tv with my laptop that worked. in my led have no video when connected from laptop.

what should i do. pls support me.

Hello everybody,
After factory restoring my HP Pavilion x2 10 (n-105nl) with HP recovery Manager almost all the drivers were missing so I went on the HP website and got the right ones.
But the stylus driver doesn't seem to be working, and I know it is not the pen because before the recovery it worked fine.
My question is, since there is not a specific driver for the stylus, where is it included, so that I could try older versions of it? Is there any other solution?

X360 on Win10 Mini DisplayPort not detecting any VGA monitors

I have an original series HP Spectre x360 13-4003dx with Windows 10. I cannot connect a vga display to the x360 Mini DisplayPort. I am using a miniDisplayport to vga cable from CableDeconn. Typing (Windows) + P, I try to switch to dual displays, either mirrored or extended, and also try to click on "detect display" but get the error message, cannot detect.

i have rolled back the graphic drivers to the original install, and also updated to the most recent. Neither works. I also removed pin 9 from the VGA side of the cable (15 pin cable, reduced to 14 pin). I removed the pin because I heard that some cables send voltage thru that pin, and shouldn't. Nothing works.

i have tried it on a Planar vga only monitor, a Samsung VGA monitor, and an LG TV (vga connector), all of which work with other equipment.

The hdmi to hdmi connection works just fine.

i have spent hours and am very frustrated.

Any hints or help is greatly appreciated.

I'm about to go to the dark side (Apple). Please don't let me do it! Everything works so much easier (but with less flexibility and sooo much more money).
