I have a new HP Pavilion running Windows 10 Home. How do I keep the NumLock button on as a default? It is maddening having to turn it on at each start up. Also, I can;t believe it does not have a light like CAPS lock, but that is a different issue, I suppose.

I'd like to ask about the global warranty, since I purchased my Envy from Indonesia about 5 months ago and now I moved back to my home country "Egypt" , and I have a problem with the screen , where the authorized dealer in Egypt informed me that he has to change the screen , connection cable and maybe part on the motherboard, yet he claimed that these parts cannot be covered by the warranty and I have to pay for it.
is it true that you have any especial regulations for Egypt?! , I'd appreciate if you let me know

just a little question.
I discovered, connecting my UHD TV to the HDMI of my laptop, I got 4k resolution on TV and on the laptop screen!
That's great!
But, whtn I disconnect the HDMI; I cannot select 4K resolution of the screen, but only FHD.
Why?
How can I get 4K resolution on my screen laptop without connect UHD-TV? It support the 4K resolution. I saw it !

1) The first problem is with the touchpad. When I type, the pointer disappears and goes to another spot. It makes a problem for me especially, when I type in programs such as Jgrasp, Dreamweaver, Netbeans, and others.
2) the second problem is, when I don't use the laptop for a few days, the touchpad works after many restarts.
3) third, sometimes, the keyboard doesn't work, when the laptop boots and I try to write the password, at that time I restart the PC. I hope you can help me to fix these problems.

There was supposed to be a collaboration with microsoft in order to build correct drivers.
Is there something working available now please?

I have an Elitebook 745. it's a nice machine, but I do not like the screen that's on it.
I've always been used to working with a glossy screen, and I cannot get used to the matte screen that's on my new Elitebook.
I've checked a bit on the web, and I saw that there are glossy screens available for this machine as well.
Most of the ones I see on the web are 1366 x 768 resoluten. Although the screen I have now is 1600 x 900, the lower resolution is now problem for me.
I work in 1366 x 768 anyway. Because my eyesight is not quite 100%, I prefer to have the objects on the screen a bit larger.
Now my question is this:
I was told, that since I use the screen in that resolution anyway, it would even be better to buy a 1366 x 768 screen, because it is than used in it's "native resolution" and will be a bit sharper for that reason. Can anyone confirm this?
And would it be possible to change my screen not only for a glossy one, but also a IPS type screen.
I've seen those, as wel, but for the 840 series. Would I be able to use one of those?
The Elitebook I've got is a 745 G2. The screen that's in it now is a N140FGE-E32 Rev. C2.
Any anvise is highliy appreciated....
By the way: If you ever need to open the top of an elitebook without leaving any marks: Use a piece of dental floss!

Bought this laptop to replace my old one. When installing and opening some programmes the splash screen, and the programme are both really zoomed out, which makes it very hard to use. The screen dispaly is set to the recommened 4K setting (3840x2160). This only happens in certain programmes as the rest are fine. Is there any thing i can do to rectify this withoout changing the screen resoulation?
I would like to purchase a HP Spectre x360 13-w0XX (Kaby Lake). However, I need to connect HDMI and DisplayPort monitors and projectors (one at the time).
The situation surrounding USB-C is highly confusing at the moment (compatebility seems to be a bit hit-and-miss).
So I am looking for (HP certified preferably) USB-C/Thunderbolt-3 adapters that will work with this machine.
Any suggestions?
Also, are there any docking solutions for this machine?
I have tried HP support here in Norway with no luck (could not answer this).
I see that HP has some USB-C (ThunderBolt-3 ??) HDMI/DisplayPort adapeters on their web site, but is unclear if they actually will work with this machine.
Additional question: does the USB-C ports in this machine support USB-C Alternate Mode DisplayPort in addition to DisplayPort over Thunderbolt-3?

I'm working on this annoying problem with n077so and with it's touchpad.
First of all I had a problem with touchpad and with usb-ports.
Touchpad didn't work and mouse attached to usb-port didn't work either.
USB-ports did recognize mouse and usb-memorysticks from all ports, but still mouse wouldn't work in windows.
I removed all touchpad drivers and usb-drivers, but windows automaticly installed them back while re-booting. So I couldn't install any older drivers, which I knew would work.
Windows10 home edition notified me about touchpad and PS/2 devices that there were some conflicts and remove other to get touchpad to work. I guess the keyboard and touchpad ps/2 drivers were in conflict.
And I did some diagnostics in UEFI enviroment and mouse did work there, couldn't test touchpad there.
After awhile I tired of unistalling and reinstalling touchpad drivers and reverted the windows10 to it's default settings.
After resetting windows, I managed to get USB-ports to work and keyboard.
THen I downloaded the latest touchpad drivers from HP supports site and installed them to get the touchpad to work.
After installation both keyboard and touchpad stopped working. And now even if I have uninstalled the drivers. Windows keeps reinstalling the touchpad and this fails to keyboard from working and touchpad doesn't work either.
There's something wrong with toucpad drivers which keeps screwing both keyboard and touchpad.
I'm resetting windows again ./
The display on my Pavilion G6 laptop is no longer working. The screen seems to display a backlight (i.e. is slightly illuminated) but nothing else. This applies to the POST/BIOS screens as well as the Windows screens which follow it. If I plug in an external monitor I can use it fine.
Any idea what the problem is likely to be?
Having issues with touchpad so installed updated driver. Now receiving error message as follows:
Control panel extension is incompatible with driver version.
Also touchpad still seems a bit slower than most touchpads I have used. Not really as responsive. I did go to settings>touchpad>pointing sensitivity>
and have it on the lightest touch.
Is there a better recommnedation?

Please help as I am suffering. Every time my 1-year old (just out of warranty) HP Omen reboots, or comes back from sleep it 'forgets' the lighting settings for the speakers etc. I seems to fall back to a full-bright, animated speaker setting which is *very* annoying. So I have to open the HP OMEN control program use the lighting tab and apply the lower lighting settings and check and then un-check animation to stop the lights from flashing in synchrony with computer sounds.
Anyone -- please how can I fix this sitution. Been googling forever but does not appear to be a good answer. HP OMEN control does change the lighting (it works) but unfortunately get forgotten every time I sit down to start using the laptop again.

When Windows is starting to run the screen turns off and on. It's as if its stuck in startup. Just as the icons start to populate the screen, it goes black for a second or two and restarts the process.
