HP wants me to show a white line on a white background

Ever since I got this notebook, all I've had are problems, and HP has never been able to resolve a single problem. It's like the warranty is completely meaningless. They didn't even replace defective parts, let alone replace the entire notebook.

I've had problems with the hard disk, and was told we can't solve this problem as this is a problem with every envy notebook.

I've had a problem where dust is building up inside the screen (between the screen and the external glass cover), and I was told I need to send the notebook to the service centre (even though I have an "on-site, at home service warranty” for 3 effing years).

This one time, one HP tech even told me "ENVY NOTEBOOKS DON'T SUPPORT VLC PLAYER, YOU MUST PLAY MULTIMEDIA USING WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER ALONE".

NOW, I have a white line appearing on the top corner of the screen, and HP said I need to take a picture of the problem in the BIOS. The BIOS itself has a white background. How can I click a picture of a white line on a white background? If I write with white ink on a white paper, can anyone read it? I explained this precisely, and was told "Since the issue is not present in BIOS, we need to check if this can be covered in the warranty". WELL, THE ISSUE IS PRESENT IN THE BIOS, IT’S JUST THAT IT CANNOT BE SEEN AS IT’S WHITE ON WHITE, AND YOU WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS AND NOT REPLACE MY LCD? The issue is present in live linux USB sticks as well! All you need to reproduce it is a DARK BACKGROUND.

This is ridiculous, it's like HP is doing everything it can to screw its customers. "Show me a white line on a white background. If you cannot, we won't respect the warranty".

Can a moderator (HP employee) please look into it? At this point, I would like a system exchange. I am done with this computer. Problems are all I've had with it, and HP has done nothing, didn't replace a single part in the computer.

They know I need the computer, and hence as a last resort, they ask me to return the computer to the service centre.

If I must drop the computer at the service centre, then what's the point of an "on-site warranty"? This is blatant "false advertising".

I can't find my camera unde rimaging devices

When I first bought this computer, the camera worked find. However it just stopped working and when I looked in the device manager I could not find it under imaging devices. All I found is a lexmark X422 with an exlamation mark (Apparently this is a printer device), and "unkown device" under other devices with an id "ACPI\HPQ6007" , which I think it might be my camera.

I already tried scanning for changes, uninstalling  the unkown device and rescanning for changes, but all my attempts were in vain.

hp 9470m external monitor distortion

Hello,

In my company we have Hp 9470m Laptops.

We have noticed some problems regarding the external screen showing some light distortion in a verity of screen types.

If I use the DP port it will be O.K but via VGA the problem remains.

Using different laptop on the same screen will show a clean picture with no distortion, so the problem is from the HP 9470m.

What can I do?

Is this issue is something familiar?

Thank you.

Screen Mirroring with Samsung Smart TV

I'm trying to connect my HP Pavilion x360 laptop (running on windows 10) to my Samsung Smart TV (6 series) to use screen mirroring. I keep on trying by using the project tab and my laptop recognizes the TV. As soon as I click the name of my TV to connect to enable screen mirroring, my TV and laptop both say loading but after a couple seconds the connection fails. Both the TV and laptop recognize each other but the screen mirroring feature doesn't work. My TV works well with other devices except my laptop. I want to know if windows 10 is compatible with screen mirroring feature of a Samsung Smart 6 series TV.

hp pavilion screen

My computer screen is faulty. It has a number of faults:

Jitters: the screen jumps occasionally, sporadically, leaving an after image after each jump, Green, blue, purple after-images, approximately 3-4.

Delay: it has a certain amount of delay when I am operating the device. Its not much of a delay, but noticeable for dropdown menus.

There is a green line at the top of my screen when I first log on, and is still visible when I'm on the laptop, with my tabs appearing unaffected by the distortion on the rest of the screen.

When I take a screenshot there is no visible distortion or noticeable effects when I look at the image.

This happened last night suddenly, the screen suddenly burst into purple, becoming blurry and distorted, at times visual elements take a "bleached" look. (pale and bright).

Is this a hardware or software fault? I checked to see if my drivers were up to date for my screen, but it seems they are.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Intel or GeForce GPU installed?

Windows 10 device manager shows I have Intel HD Graphics but the label on the laptop says nVidia GeForce. I see no sign of the nVidia GPU and when installing HP's nVidia driver it says not compatible with the system. Is there someway I can find out what should be on this exact laptop? Dell Computer's support page will give the exact hardware configuration for a given product's serial number but I dont see any such feature on HP. I do see that HP's driver page offers both Intel and nVidia drivers for this system.

When it was purchased, this system could have been configured with either Intel or nVidia. Because of the nVidia GeForce label I assumed the nVidia GPU was installed. After installing Windows 10 however, I saw that it is an Intel HD GPU. If it was supposed to be an Intel HD why did HP place an nVidia GeForce GPU label on it?

Continuing discussion re: multiple displays....

$

I would normally be inclined to agree with you that a laptop SHOULD be able to support its built-in screen AND one additional external monitor/screen, BUT.............

I've had chats with HP support folks for a couple of hours and they're NOT coming up with the reason why my wife's Ultrabook laptop (Windows 10 Pro and with the Core i5 processor and HD 4000 Intel graphics chipset/adaptor) is unable to call up two screens.

We're not asking for miracles.......just a second/extended screen.

Has anybody in the "real" world heard of a solution/fix??

When we go to Control Panel/Display, the old "Connect to an External Display" doesn't even appear as a choice, the way it did in Windows 7.

Instead, we have to select Adjust Resolution to get to the "Change the appearance of your display" screen, where you'd normally see a drop-down for selecting the additional monitor....be able to "Identify" the two screens as #1 and #2......stack them up, put them side-by-side....etc, but NONE of that appears on her screen. Just the plain old......
Display: 1. Generic Non-PnP Monitor.     That's it.

Anyone? Thanks.

Video drivers stopped working after the latest Windows 10 patch

$

Hi!

I see there are a lot of questions regarding the Radeon Video Display drivers.

Anyone else experience this:

After the latest patching of the Radeon video drivers last week (12th. of August) my screen turned black.

If I try to reboot the display freeze after about 15 seconds - during the boot process (with the dots going around under the HP logo!)

It took some time before I realized what was wrong, so I completely reinstalled the Windows 10 OS twice.

So this is what happens:

- I completely wipe the HD with a new Windows 10 installation.

- I get a notification that the Radeon video driveres is not optimal.

- And after about 20-30 minutes the screen goes black.

- If I try to reboot, the machine is stuck on the HP logo with the dots going around!

I did this procedure twice before I understood that nothing is actually wrong with the computer.

The second time I managed to change the boot procedure so I could press F8 and push the machine into Safe boot.

So now the goal is to find correct drivers, and downgrade in Safe mode. Anyone tried that? Is there a trick, maby download the drivers on another machine and bring them over using a USB stick?

Kind regards,

Jarle
