HDMI does not work after HP Update

Hi,

I am using an HP ENVY (Laptop/ 3 months old) with Wiondows 10

Today I got the message from the HP Update Manager that several Updates are available.

I installed all updates and afterwards my external Monitor which is connected via HDMI to DVI-D is not recognized by windows any more.

I tried the monitor with another Laptop (same cable) and it works perfect. Therefore I guess it must be the computer.

Any Idea how I can get the monitor to work again ?

Thanks

Bluescreen

I have been using your HP Laptop since 2010 there was no problem it was running perfectly until recently a few months ago i manually updated my graphics driver with a wrong driver version which resulted in the Bluescreen error. I then rolled back the process but it did not solve. Then i uninstalled the whole thing and tried to update automatically still the same. Now it wont even let me access anything related to the Graphics..whenever i trigger something which depends on the graphics it flickers and restarts automatically taking me to the Bluescreen. i even upgraded to windows 10.. and now back to windows 7 to see if i could install the default driver for AMD graphics driver. But even then while the catalyst center finishes the installation it flickers then taking me to bluescreen nothing really works. i barely use it with safe mode uninstalling the installed driver and then restarting to normal use.. without the graphics driver. What should I do here. please respond with a solution.

unable to move mouse while typing

When I try to move the trackpad or aim with the trackpad on games while typing or moving, it doesn't do anything. I tried calling support with no avail and tried looking up the answer. I tried putting palmcheck to minimum but it didn't do anything. I tried changing various settings but none of them did anything either. If there is any solution, I would be happy to try it.

HP Spectre15-4010nr custom resolution for external monitor

Hi,

I have the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook 15-4010nr and have plugged in an external monitor using Thunderbolt/ mini display port.

No matter what I try, I cannot get the resolution of the external monitor over 1920 x 1080 which is the maximum resolution of the laptop. The monitor's resolution is 3440 x 1440.

Research on the internet says that the Intel HD Graphics 4000 should be able to support the monitor's resolution.

I have tried Intel's CustomModeApp and created a custom resolution there but I am unable to choose it anywhere.

Has anyone been able to do this?

I believe my issue is because i have a 4k, or almost 4k, resolution screen and a lot of the content is not developed in 4k? i was wondering if there was a fix to this, or even if i can downscale my resolution so my laptop does not display the content so small that i can not see it.

Pavilion X2 10-n106nl Video Driver continuously Stops Working and then get restarted

Hi,

just bought a Pavilion X2 with Win 10 Home OS,

I continously a pop-up message in the low rigth corner that the video driver stopped responding and then got restarted.

This happen on a continuous base many times every 5 minutes (sometimes even 20 or 30 times).

Very annoying, also because it makes the computer almost impossible to use.

Strange thing is that I've installed any extra applications, and moreover it happends when the only application running if the web browser (edge).

I've re-installed the video driver from the hp web product page (including the ones needed for the intel chipset) but it doesn't help.

Any idea about what can I do ?

Thank you

Silvio

I am trying to use a second monitor connected via the HDMI port. When I plug the HDMI cable in the monitor goes into power saving mode and doesn't do anything else. The properties on the notebook show two monitors and identify the 2nd screen correctly. Using the Windows key and P brings up the options ok but nothing displays.

I've updated the graphics drivers and uninstalled all previous version but still can't get this to work.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

dv9000 laptop (intel processor) gets hot, then screen looks like kaleidoscope

I have a DV9000 laptop that will run normally for about 20-30 minutes but starts getting hot. At about the 30 minute mark the screen gets all twisted up like a kaleidoscope. It moves with the mouse. I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 32 bit, have tried 64 bit, but it happens even quicker with 64 bit Ubuntu. I took the fan and heat sinks out and they are not plugged up with gunk, pretty clean actually. Laptop is being run on a stand with good airflow underneith.

Does this sound like the dreaded desoldered GPU problem that usually causes black screen, or is it something else?

How are people getting these machines to cool down? If I hack the fan to run on high speed all the time will it cool off or is there an updated fan available? Even when the fan is on high there seems to be very little airflow compared to my other laptops.

Physically I really like the way this computer is set up. I would really like to get it repaired.

Broken Screen Advice x2

Hello there;

Me and my partner both own HP laptops and our main use of said laptops was when in bed falling asleep. Unfortunately it would appear, but can not confirm, both laptops have ended up on the floor during sleep and damaged the screens.

Laptop #1

  • Product: C4V06EA#ABU
  • Model: dv6-7227sa
  • Spec: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03504374
  • Screen: 39.6 cm (15.6") HDBrightViewLED-backlit (1366 x 768)

Laptop #2

  • Product: E4Q93EA#ABU
  • Model: 15-E092SA
  • Spec: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03876880
  • Screen: 39.6 cm (15.6") HDBrightViewLED-backlit (1366 x 768)

As both laptops are no longer covered by warranty I am confident in myself to replace and fix these screens however I would like to know the exact screen model numbers/product id.

It would appear (according the HP spec) that both screen are exactly the same.

  1. Are both screens the same?
  2. What is the model number of the screen I need to purchase?
  3. Can I purchase these through HP?
  4. Would I require a certain tool set to fit these screens?
  5. Is there any tutorials on replacing said screens?

Any help and support would much appreciated.

Regards;

Dispay fading out to the white screen

My laptop suudenly experienced today unusual behavior - the screen slowly faded out and became white with several vertical stripes. After several efforts to restore picture I rebotted PC but after initial strartup Windows picture, screen faded again. I shut it down again, removed the battery, waited some time and started it  up - laptop started normally, but after 10-15 min of work picture faded again to the white screen and then restored again. This happened several times on and off. Now, for more than an hour screen works normally. Any idea from users what is going on?

Thanks,

Upgrading RAM (HP ENVY 720-220)

$

I'm interested in purchasing an HP ENVY 720-220 computer. The specs look great, but I'd love to upgrade the RAM. According to the product specifications, it is upgradable to 16 GB.

Now, my question is, would HP be willing to upgrade the RAM themselves if I paid an additional fee? I know the guide to upgrade RAM is online, but I'd rather not take the risk and mess up the machine.

Thank you ahead of time.

HP Truevision HD front camera not detected on HP Spectre X2 need drivers for Linux Fedora 23

HP Truevision HD front camera not detected on HP Spectre X2 need drivers for Linux Fedora 23, running kernel 4.5.6.

The Intel 3D R200 cam at the rear worked well out of the box. But the front one is not even detected as a device.

I know the physical hardware is ok because it works on Windows 10 on the Intel provided driver.

Is there a patch or driver that I can download to fix this to work on Linux?
