This platform is not compatible with Intel Wifi

Hi,

I'm trying to install Intel Wireless Display Software (American, International) 4.2.19.0 Rev.D 23 Sep 2014 downloaded from the HP support center for my computer. The installation starts but after a few seconds a message comes "The platform is not compatible with Intel WiDi. The Driver for wireless access can't find or download the necessary components for Intel WiDi". From the Intel website (http://ark.intel.com/products/81015/Intel-Core-i7-4510U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz) I can see that WiDi is supported for the processor I have. Do I need to change my driver for the Wireless card? Which one should I change to?

Premature sleep when external display connected

Hi,

I am using the default settings in the Power and Sleep settings. The notebook is plugged in to AC Power. It is plugged into the thunderbolt docking station with mouse, keyboard and ethernet connected. The display is supposed to turn off after 10 minutes and the computer is supposed to sleep after 30 minutes of idle time. It I do not connect an external display, everthing works fine.

If I connect an HP27sv monitor to an HP DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter, and plug that into the docking station, then I get the following behavior. After a reboot, everthing works fine up till the first time the computer sleeps: The display turns off after 10 mintues and wakes up fine. After 30 minutes the computer goes to sleep.  However, once the computer has woken up from sleep mode, then it always goes back to sleep after two minutes. No matter what I do with the Power and sleep settings the computer goes to sleep after two minutes of idle time.

I can also reproduce the bug using the sleep button on the keyboard:

  •  Connect external display
  •  Press sleep button on keyboard, computer goes to sleep
  •  Wake up computer and sign in
  •  Wait two minutes with no activity, computer goes to sleep again (should be 30 minute wait)

This system has the NVidia Quadro M1000M display adapter for the docking station display ports. NVidia driver version is 354.86

Black screen after switching to external monitor and back

$

I have a new ProBook 645 G1 that I use most of the time with a Dell 34" monitor (3415w) connected via the DisplayPort with the lid closed on the ProBook. If I lift the lid on the ProBook, the display switches to the laptop fine, and if I close the lid, it switches back to the external monitor fine. However, if I switch inputs on the monitor to view a different computer, then switch the monitor back to view the DisplayPort that the ProBook is connected to, the ProBook will not display, either on the external monitor or on its own screen (if I open the lid on the ProBook, the display on the ProBook is black as well). The only way I have found to recover the display on the ProBook is to force the laptop down by holding the power key until it powers off, then powering it back on and letting it boot up. I have tried cycling the lid and waiting to see if the ProBook will eventually output on the DisplayPort or the ProBook screen. It won’t. I have tried the Windows +P keys without effect, as well as unplugging the DisplayPort cable from the ProBook, but the display on the ProBook will not come back on. The ProBook boots up fine on the external monitor.

I have found that if I open the lid on the ProBook *before* I switch the input on the monitor away from the ProBook, then switch the monitor back to the DisplayPort connected to the ProBook and close the lid, it switches back to the external monitor fine. If I forget to open the lid on the ProBook before switching the external monitor away from the ProBook, that is when I get into this black screen issue.

Prior to the ProBook, I had a HP EliteBook 8460p. The EliteBook did not have this issue. Lifting the lid on the EliteBook would ALWAYS cause the screen on the laptop to restore.

Power options are set to never turn off the display and never put the computer to sleep while plugged in, which it always is. ‘When I close the lid’ is set to ‘Do nothing’. The power button is set to put the ProBook in sleep mode when pressed. I thought that I could use the power button to put the ProBook to sleep when it is the black screen mode in hopes that when I brought it out of the sleep mode, the screen or monitor would come back. Oddly, when it is in the black screen mode, the power button will not put it in the sleep mode.

Interestingly, if I just power the external monitor off, then back on, it does not put it into this black screen mode.

Any ideas on how to recover the ProBook from a black screen without doing a forced power down?

Is there any way to get rid of these images that appear when I disable/enable my touchpad?

Their appearance is also accompanied by the usb insert/remove sound although I have disabled all system sounds on my computer.
The TouchPad driver installed is the one from  appropriate Driver Downloads page.
I couldn't find any such option in available settings.

HP 608 booting into portrait orientation when landscape orientation was selected

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out a solution to a problem I'm having. I will detail the issue.

When logging in to an alternate user account, the screen orientation goes to Portrait mode. This doesn't happen on what is the default login for the tablet.

I've adjust the display settings to Landscape orientation and selected the Lock rotation of this display to On, but it continues to log in on Portrait mode.

I've tried to find either a registry entry or a GPO that would control screen orientation, but I can't find one.

It's running Windows 10 IoT Enterprise.

Keyboard and Touchpad freezing up

My problems are mainly with the keyboard and touchpad.  The touchpad itself no longer seems to respond, although it SOMETIMES works for a small amount of time if I restart my computer.  The keyboard usually works, but it sometimes also stops working.  The keyboard issue is usually fixed after restarting the laptop.  The touchscreen works perfectly and a usb mouse has no issues.  It seems to only be the keyboard and touchpad.

Also, my computer seems to "freeze" every 5 seconds or so.  It does NOT interrupt video or streaming; it just has a momentary blip where my typing does not work for just a half of a second.  For example, when I try to name a document/folder it will, every 5 seconds or so, stop letting me change/create the name and keep whatever I have just written as the name.  So if I want to rename a word document to "testmonkey123" I can double click on the name, erase what it already has, type "testmonke" before my laptop blips and then the word document is just called "testmonke" as if I hit enter or clicked away.  It also interrupts typing. For example, I will try to type "Hello world, I wish my computer was fixed and had no issues." without stopping:

Ho world, I wish my comp was fixed and had no issues.

Typing is largely a waiting game for the blip to go away.

These blips do not interfere with my usb mouse, nor the playback of videos.  However, it does interrupt typing with the on-screen keyboard.

(Also recently I have had weird trouble with "fullscreen" not excluding the toolbar at the bottom nor the header in chrome.  If I exit out of all chrome windows it seems to fix the issue, however.  I doubt it is related, but I'm saying it just in case it somehow is.)

As for when this problem started, it began after I accidentally left my computer on a flat ping-pong table until it died.  Once I plugged it back in and booted it up, the touchpad stopped responding after about a minute and these "blips" started occurring.

Any idea what the problem is? BTW I do have a 3 year warranty (2 years remaining) in case I need to pursue that route. If I do, any suggestions on where to start/how to do that?

Thanks!

Display and Graphics Drivers

I am having several problems with my laptop recently, primarily to do with the drivers installed or not installed on my computer.

1) I have been having a reoccuring issue where my laptop will freeze for a moment and then a message will pop up, saying that my display driver has stopped responding and has recovered. This makes it very annoying to do anything on my laptop when this keeps happening several times.

2) I am also having an issue where my laptop completely freezes and also has an onoxious buzzing sound. The only way to fix this is to restart the laptop manually.

I have tried to fix this issue by updating my graphics driver. I figured it wasn't compatible with windows 10, HOWEVER...whatever driver I try to download, whether it is from HP, Intel, or NVIDIA, it doesn't let me update my graphics driver. It states that it is either not compatible with my laptop, or it gives me a message saying that the driver is not validated for my computer, and to please obtain the appropiate driver from the computer manufactuer. I did that, and it still said it wasn't validated!

Also another big problem I have, I bought this laptop and it is advertised that it has a NVIDIA Geforce graphics card. I have tried several times to get the NVIDIA drivers but it states that I do not have the appropiate software for the drivers even though I should have them...

I have been fighting with this laptop for three days after incurring a black screen at startup.  I was thinking the HDD was dying, or that I have malware or some other problem, only to find that it is this stupid switchable graphics problem again.

I just downloaded the redated HP drivers for this model and then during install the program says my machine is not compatible or something to that effect.

sp55092.exe and sp55098.exe which comes from HP site.   What am I missing?  I swear I will never buy an HP product again as there is little updating on drivers, tons of bloatware and little qualified support!!!!!
