Faulty ambient light sensor, any physical fix?

Hi!

Does any one know how to "hackfix" failed ambien light sensor? (unit out of warranty so open to any ideas)

Backlight is totally black. The issue is clearly a cold solder in the cable connection since pressing on ALS-sub board's connector turns the back light on.

 

I've tried with couple of disassembled boards, both had the same issue. I guess this is due to the delicate nature of the connector.

 

Disconnecting the cable doesn't help, that keeps the backlight off. BIOS disable of course won't work since it's a connection issue.

 

Does anyone know could I do a jumper on the connector pins to make the backlight work?

And no,  it's not the cable, I have changed it too.

Screen is wavy like when it shows light colors.It alsohas this red with black lines going vertically in background. If a pic of a mountain is there than the bottom can be this red.  On my home page that shows you pics of tv programs that red will be in it. If I have directions on how to do something from the control panel they will be red and the letters different and I can't read it. Please help

HI,

     At the bottom of my screen is my task bar. On my task bar there is a small arrow obviously to check battery and other stuff like graphics But a error logo keeps appearing on the graphics logo and when i open it, It says (failed to initialize the protect feature, status = 0X2). Please Tell me how to resolve this.

 i deleted filles  while i was updating to windows 10 from 8.1 but since then my touchsreen doesnt work help me on how to recover the touchscreen drivers for my laptop

Two thin, white vertical lines appeared in the center of the screen upon startup. I performed a full shutdown/restart and one line disappeared, but one line remains. Repeated restarts have done nothing to eliminate the other line. Laptop is just over one year old and upgraded to Windows 10 several weeks ago.

My Pavillion g7-2022us with Windows 10 is low on memory.  This shows up a lot when I am online.  A trusted box-store tech has said I can purchase memory to add to my laptop.  I was wondering if there is a way to free up existing memory so that I don't have to purchase--low on funds--Are there programs I can delete, for example.

Recently bought a GoPro camera and their software wants an "OpenGL 3.2" compatible driver software for the graphics.  Intel website says my graphics driver is proprietary to HP.   Where do I get this type of driver, and is it even available?

When I have the charger plugged in, my laptop monitor gets glitchy and starts jumping around rapidly - especially if playing a video or running anything with a lot of movement. 

 

I have plugged in an external monitor and it is effected as well. 

 

When I unlug the charger, everything is normal. I have ruled out the charger being bad, and ground-looping is not an issue. 

 

The Envy is notorious for overheating, and I have lost a harddrive that way. Is this a total-loss, or is there a chance it can be resurrected?

Just set up the 23xw Monitor, connecting VGA to my ProBook Laptop.  Installed HP My Display.  Want to see display only on the 23xw (blank laptop screen) and want a vertical split screen, but can't achieve that result.  Cursor control seems to shift randomly between the laptop and the 23xw.  For the time being, need to use the laptop keyboard (no wireless keyboard as of now.)  What do I need to do to shift the display from laptop to monitor and split the screen while maintaining laptop keyboard functionality?  Thank you.

My HP Envy shippid with a Blu-ray player/burner but the software that shipped with the laptop won't play a Blu-ray disk.  Basicallly HP charges extra for a Blu-ray player that can only play DVD's.  Very deceptive.

Hello.

 

Long ago I had successfully installed Intel HD Graphics Accelerator (something like that)

With this I was able to change display's resolution and such.

Now whenever I try to install it, it's not happening.

Window appears and say that my PC is not compatible with the driver's verion. ( something like that)

 

I need this driver.

In some games such as Counter Strike 1.6 The game appears with black bars in both sides.

Right and Left.

With this driver I was able to fix that.

Now I can't..

 

Can I please get some kind of help/suppor about this problem ?

In the summer, I have bought HP Omen which I thought handle every game which was released. Firstly I have installed counter-strike global offensive in which I experienced fps stutters and drops. Then I have installed GTA 5, the game has recommended high graphics, but I customized it and set to normal. After 5-10 mins Omen has started overheating and the game suddenly became unplayable. Now I am playing World of warcraft on LOW graphics which was recommended to play at HIGH, but after 1-hour laptop is starting to overheat and I experience fps drops.

 

Yes, I have updated all (Windows and PC driver)

Yes, I am sure that PC detects Nvidia graphics card.

Yes, I have jumped on windows 10, but nothing has changed.

Yes, I have a desire to commit a suicide.

 

 

Please help. It can be treated as one of the worst nightmares of my life.

My screen is busted and I can't afford to fix it. I wanted to remove the screen completely for access to keyboard and space reasons. When I tried to restart it would not past post while hooked to an external monitor. Any advice?
