First Time Mini Display Port To Monitor Connection

$

I'm getting ready to move away from having a big desktop box under my desk and want to hook my monitor (Pavilion 25bw) up to my Spectre x360. I have a USB graphics adaptor and it seems to work fine with the VGA but I'd rather use the DVI input. I bought a mini display port to DVI cable, but nothing happens. I"m new to trying this, so I'm guessing I'm missing a step somewhere. How do I get this to work?

My laptop doesn't open. I remember turning it off right and I've been trying to turn it on since then. But all it says is "this device has been locked for security reasons. Connect your device to a power source for at least 2 hours and try to restart." what do i do?

Just installed Office2016 on laptop & can't use pens in OneNote. Error says I need a table driver

I just installed Office 2016 Pro on my laptop and two things have happened.  First, my snipping tool stopped working.  I can deal with that, but in One Note, I can't access any of the pens to draw with.  When I click on a pen color I get an error that says "Tablet drivers are not installed on the system. You must install them to enable tablet features."  I have a laptop, not a tablet, so I don't know what's going on.  I had Office 2013 installed prior and had no trouble with it.

I spent over an hour on the phone getting the runaround from Microsoft.  They finally told me to go to the HP website and update my device drivers.  I did that as best I could.  There are so many drivers I wasn't sure what to install.  There was no driver for a tablet.

Please help!

Hi,

I am unable to type properly in the laptop as the moment my hand just brushes in a feather touch manner on the  touchpad, the cursor moves to other areas.  this is due to the very high degree of sensitivity of the track pad.

Request you to pls suggest on how to reduce the senstivity of the track pad.

Screen Crack on New Spectre 360 bought 03/12/16

Opened up my screen, and heard a slight snap. Upon examining the laptop I noticed a one inc u-shaped crack at the top of the screen. This has broken hy heart, as I was always a Sony VAIO buyer, and since they are not in the laptop business anymore I had to find a new brand. I can honestly say that I feel like I have made the worst purchase ever.  on top of the cracked screen , I've already placed a complaint about the sound volume going to high if you press play after pausing a song. Also when I turn on the laptop, it shows a message almost every time about my fan not operating correctly. This is entirely too many issues, and I never had one at all with my Sony VAIO.

After upgrade to Windows 10 from 7, external monitor no longer detected. Tried to get help through HP assistant and Windows update setting but having no luck. One note: the monitor is connected via HDMI to an adapter then into monitor. The external monitor is an older one and does not have a straight HDMI in port.

Everything worked fine in Windows 7. There have been no other issues with the update.

Hi,

I have a HP 630 that is black screen and I believe it is bricked. I tired removing battery, ram and tried to install bios through USB but nothing is working no blinking on USB just USB light stays on. windows+B, FN+B none of the method is working. Then I tried to flash bios chip directly with USB Programmer CH341A Series Burner Chip 24 EEPROM BIOS LCD Writer 25 SPI Flash, download the bios from http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5086783&swItemId=ob_129448_1&swEnvOid=4057 and tried 03672.fd, 03674.fd, 03676.fd one by one but no good luck. The laptop is turning on and GPU chip getting hot I think little bit more hotter than it suppose to be but not sure, if I turn off the laptop still the GPU chip kept hot. Is it the bios problem or something wrong with the GPU chip.  Please help me. I attached the actual board and bios chip picture please havea a look. I found two windbond chip on the board one is located opposite side of the GPU chip slightly bigger than the other one and I believe this is the bios chip showing in picture-1 attachment. And the other one is windbond as well located beside of the ram slightly smaller than the other in picutre-2 attachmet. I'm new but I want to learn if something doesn't make sense please don't mind and I will explain.

Brightness keys not working on HP Envy 13

$

Hello,

After the last HP Notebook System BIOS update (version F.35Ap1), the brightness keys (fn2 and fn3) are no longer working and the brightness is stuck at 100% although under the battery icon on the taskbar it says 0% and I cannot change that. I already tried some of the tips that were mentioned in this forum but none worked.

Here is what I have already tried in vain: The display adapter is set on Intel Graphics 520 and I up-dated it. I set it to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter but that did not work. I tried different versions of Intel Graphics 520 but that did not work, either. I up-dated the Generic PnP Monitor and it is enabled.

On top of that, it cannot change to the second screen anymore although it still recognizes it.

Laptop: HP Envy 13-d100 Notebook

System: Windows 10 (64-bit)

Are there any other options to fix this?

Thanks!

AMD switchable graphics error code 43

Hi everyone,

My hard drive died a few weeks ago and I've proceeded to replace it and fresh installed win 7 home premium 64bits. Downloaded all drivers from hp except the graphics driver which does not work. Whenever I install it windows would just freeze at the "windows starting up" screen. Now I searched and found that many other hp owners had that problem after doing a clean install.

Now what can i do to resolve the graphics driver problem?

Please note that I cannot do a factory reset because the recovery partition is on the dead drive and i do not have any recovery disks or intend to buy new ones. So please don't suggest those.

chromebook keyboard 67yuhjnm possible fix + battery charging fix

Just replaced the battery in my (out of warranty) HP Chromebook 14 and noticed a couple of things: One, that I was having the well-documented  intermittant 67yuhjnm keys issue, and that the new battery was giving me the same issue as the old; not recognized, not charging, device was useless unless plugged in. I also did the ctl/alt/T, battery_test 1 test, no battery found, etc.

So, what I found was this: The keyboard would work if I popped it off and left it connected. This points to a cable/pinch issue, as the cable would straighten out a bit when the keyboard was lifted off. The 67yuhjnm keys would stop working as soon as the device was reassembled. (This aslo seems to refute the idea that its a software issue, at least for me) so I disconnected the keyboard, and unfolded the fold that was causing the issue, and taped it flat to the bottom of the keyboard. I then carefully made a new fold, and voila, fixed. At least for me. Who knows how long this will last, but it makes sense that it will work, as long as you tape the original fold flat with electrical tape.

The battery issue was fixed by fluke really, I noticed that it would charge briefy when I reconnected the battery, maybe for 2-3 seconds I'd get the orange light, then it would switch to flashing white (discharging) again. I noticed that by applying a small amount of downward pressure right at the connection (when I was connecting th battery terminal), the light would switch to orange and begin charging again. My fix was this: I cut a 2" long piece of black elelctical tape and rolled it up, sticky side out. I laid it horizontally accross the battery connection, similar to the way the connector lies, directly on top of the connector. Then, when I reassembled the device, the sandwhich created by the keyboard pressing down on the point where the tape is, seems to be enough to keep the device charging.

I say all of this in the hope that it works for anyone. As we all know, we read these forums and grab bits and pieces from here and there to solve our respective issues. This may or may not work in your case, or part of it might work; maybe you only have one of these issues.

There are plenty of YT tutorials showing you how to open the device, the gist of it is, remove the two back rubber feet, then remove all the screws on the bottom. Flip it over again and begin gently prying up the top keyboard surface using a spudger or similar device. Remember the keyboard is connected by two delicate ribbon cables directly underneath; one for the touchpad, and the other for the keyboard. They're not too long so you have to remove them with one hand and hold the keyboard in the other, being carefull not to lift them higher than a couple of inches. A second person may help the first time, so you know what to expect. Flip up the cable retention switches with a spudger and the cables and  keyboard will come free, and you'll have access to the internals. Again, please consult a YT tutorial on this prior, but it's not too involved.

I'm using the device right now to post this, and my battery is already at 97%. Hope this helps anyone.

Defective Intel HD 530 Graphics Card on New Laptop???

Just spent many hours migrating from old laptop to a brand new one. The final thing I wanted to do was an HDMI hook up to an external monitor. The monitor wasn't being recognized no matter what I tried. It had worked fine with my old laptop. An HP tech support guy took over my new laptop via remote control, did all kinds of things including BIOS update and driver uninstall/reinstall (he said the driver would not reinstall because the HD 530 card was not recognized), and concluded that the HD 530 card was defective and that I needed to get a warranty replacement of the new laptop. I'm waiting for delivery of the replacement and thinking about the many hours it'll take to do another migration. In the meantime, I decide to do some trouble-shooting myself. I replaced the HDMI cable, which was new, with an old one I had, and was surprised to see the external monitor come to life. It's working just fine.

I'm thinking that the HD 530 card is not defective. Also, an HD 530 driver update seems to be called for, but fails to install. Seeking expert opinion on both issues. Below are the graphics report and failed driver update information.
