It seems from the forum posts that there are many many people with the same issue, and no solution to the problem!  When will HP take responsibility for this issue and provide a solution?

 

The issue is the "Touchsmart" screen is no longer responding to touch!!!  What's the point of a touch screen laptop if it does not respond to touch!!!!

 

I have been through all the proposed solutions ... device manager... etc. etc... but still nothing...

 

Under System: Pen and Touch it says: It says no pen or touch input is available for this display

 

Please can HP help its customers resolve this issue?

ISSUE 1:  Is there a way to set my "Intel Corporation Sky Lake Integrated Graphics" [card] to "hardware acceleration" as opposed to "software"?   If so, how would one do that under the Linux [Linux Mint 17.3] operating system?  (specs below)

Sometimes referred to as Skylake

 

ISSUE 2:  Microsoft Powerpoint 2010 reports an error with the graphics card because it is not set to "hardware" acceleration.  Is there a workaround?  (Powerpoint being run via PlayOnLinux 4.2.10 with Wine 1.6.2)

 

Please respond in language a newbie who is not an engineer might comprehend!  Thanks !

Hi! I'm kind of freaking out right now because I have heard a lot of different opinions on the matter, but the issue is that last night, my computer was dropped about 2 ft to the ground and landed on its closed screen. The computer was powered on at the time, just charging, and when I opened it up, all I got was a blank screen, though the backlight was still on.

 

The backlight was not responding to my attempts to dim its brightness nor any other keyboard input. The screen itself remained black and still is. I have attempted to unplug it, remove the battery, hold the power down for 15 seconds, then plug the computer back in without the batter to see if it would reset, but it remains blank even then

 

I have not tried the Shift+F8+Power button method yet, though i have heard that it works. Are there any other solutions?

 

I have also been informed  that i could have disconnected a wire that allows the display to show up, or in the worst case scenario, broken a certain component that allows the display to appear. If the latter is the problem, I have been told that it would be a $300-400 fix to replace the broken piece.

 

Does anyone know any possible at-home solutions I could try first, and if not, could you offer insight to the problem and possible cost of a solution? Thank you for your help!

The laptop we are having an issue with is connected to the above docking station which is hooked up to 2 HP monitors. Only one of the monitors are experiencing this intermittent flickering which is the one connected to the display port. The cables are brand new and I have tried replugging them into both the docking station and monitor, restarting the computer, checked for updates, and researched this issue online. I was able to find this issue online and the fix seems to be a firmware update/graghics update but the site i found the fix on was last updated over a year ago and was for the G1. I have not been able to locate any info for this issue with the G2. We have 1 other identical laptop set up in this office that i am aware of and the exact same issue is occuring there as well. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Yesterday I turned my spectre x2- 12- a001tu off and couldn't turn it on again until I soft reset it (power+volume up) after which the welcome screen popped up but after I logged in the screen was black and there was nothing but my cursor. I could open task manager by using keyboard shortcuts (ctrl+shift+esc) and it opened but I cant do/see anything else. I turned it on and off many times and it is still this way, help!!

I just bought a HP Omen laptop. The Airplane mode light doesnt lightup at all. been looking online for a solution and havent been able to find  FIX  ANY IDEAS

the fonts and all shown on page is normal but when I go online the lettering gets very large. Too big for me to see the entire screen. pictures get large also.

Since I upgraded to Windows 10, whenever I put my laptop to sleep, it shuts down instead.

I have tried everything starting from updating all my drivers at the Device Manager to updating Intel HD graphics 4000 to the latest version they have Win64_153342 launched on 01/21/2016.

I disabled the Intel HD graphics 4000 from Device manager & the Sleep option is gone, so it is directly related to the problem.

Please help as this is very annoying & every time I go to meetings I have to wait for my laptop to re-start & load all the pages again!

I have the ΗP - 15-r127nv (ENERGY STAR) with Windows 10 (64-bit) if i go to make battery charge the screen brighness change .. Sametimes have high brighness sametimes low brighness and sametimes my screen is off ..

 

Why i have this problem ?

Hey, i'm a newbie to graphics. I had recently formatted my notebook and installed windows 7 64 bit os. Ater that i installed the amd graphics r5 m330 as provided in the hp support for products and then the intel graphics. But that didn't work out and the setup for the intel graphics displayed an error report that the minimum system requirement is not met, and evenmore the amd catalyst manager cant detect the Radeon r5 m330 graphcs package. Hence in the device manager it shows that only the standard vga is present. Please help me out.

a few days ago, I started seeing annoying patches of bright-green flickering stripes in areas of my backgroung screen, and along the manu bar along the bottom of my screen

 

the entire screen goes flickering green for a moment when I re-boot.

 

Yesterday, I spend 90 minutes downloading and re-installing the Video Driver.  For the next hours, the laptop display was perfect!  After work, I closed it, and when I reopened it at home - still brilliant!

 

This morning, I opened it at the office and .... the annoying green flickers are back.  This firefox screen has no problems, my Live Mail has no problems, but when I open my file explorer, I get some red lines along the edge of some boxes, and the thumbnail previews of some jpg files flicker with green.

 

I bought the laptop in Dec 2014, so it is "out of warrantee" but my last Toshiba Windows-7 laptop is still going strong (it's just not fast enough for Windows 10) so I expected this one to last at least a few years.

 

Was it a mistake to buy an HP?

I dug up a Pavilion Dv5-2045dx. I had to replace the hard drive to get it to turn on and I upgraded the ram and OS from windows 7 to 10. The network card is slow and I tried to add one from a newer 2013 pavilion but the computer crashed at start up. Sometimes when I manually put the computer to sleep via lid or power button, the computer becomes un-responcive and will not wake up. Last of all, I tried running a few modern (and old) games but they crashed with graphics problems. I'm currently running DirectX 10 but can I upgrade from that to 11? And is there another way I can upgrade my graphics although I do not have a gravics card?

I am using a HP 15-r018dx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) laptop with Windows 10 x64 bit.

 

My Fn keys do not work. Ex. pressing Fn + function key do not work.

 

How did this possibly happen? Is there a way to fix this problem?

Dear colleagues,

 

I have an small issue.

 

I have laptop HP g62 with the broken screen. I want to connect external screnn in order to check BIOS settings.

 

External screen connected but when I press "Power" nothing is shown on external screen until Windows boots.

 

Is it possible to see thru external screen BIOS?

My touch pad right/left buttons work fine; but the touch stick (the ball in the middle of the keyboard) and the buttons below it are creating mini pop up menus infront of the menu i actually clicked on. if i hit escape - the menu goes away ... how do i fix what actions the pointing stick does?

I apologize if I picked the wrong "product issue", but nowhere in the entire list was there any mention of the Digital Picture Frame that HP makes.   Anyway, here's the problem I hope that someone out there can give me a solution for. 

It's a borderline technical problem; since I've had the frame my cats have knocked it over so many times that the frame has been "dinged".  It's purely a cosmetic problem but it's really icky looking and I was hoping someone could tell me how I could "fix" (i.e. cover up)  these ugly dings.  I've tried furniture scratch cover but it won't stay on there because of the frames composition.  It won't soak in like it's supposed to do on regular wood.

 

HELP!!!!!
