I have a series of problems.
1. Broken monitor which I connect to one of two external monitors, one with a VGA cable and the other with an HDMI: Everything was working beautifully and then neither monitor was receiving a signal. What happened initially was that I tripped over the HDMI, actually pulling off the metal piece that is inserted into the port. I went and go another and the external monitor still did not get a signal. I thought that maybe I had bent the port but that wouldn't have caused the monitor that is connected with a VGA cable to still receive no signal, but I don't know that for sure. Went through several tutorials and ended up following one instructing me to remove the RTC battery for 10 minutes. I was very careful to follow the instructions. When I powered up the laptop, not only did the two external monitors not receive signals, but the broken monitor was black .
2. Once I powered on the laptop and got no results on the screen or external monitors, I noticed that both the Caps Lock key and the Num Lock key were blinking. At this point, I considered the possibility that I needed some personal guiance.
3. I am in the process of writing a book. To ensure that nothing gets lost, I have been emailing the most recent draft to various email addresses. I was in a new draft when the HDMI cable broken and had not yet sent that draft. Ihave another laptop and was hopeful that I could connect the laptop with the broken screen to my other laptop and retrieve the latest draft and save it on the other laptop. I have not been successful in accomplishing this.
I suspect that in today's world, I would not be considered even a little bit knowledgeable about my laptops' technical issues . I can, however, follow direction extremely well. I have little fear of exploring possible resolutions to most problems and am tenacious to a fault. I will exhaust evey avenue I can to resolve most issues. Essentially, I have no fear of trying anything new and so far, I have been very successful and have learned much, until now.
