Symptom: 

There is lag when I run some applications on my secondary monitor (laptop docked in station). For example, when I type text in a dialog, the text is not showing up on monitor immediately. The lag is repeatable.

The lag can be 10 seconds long and happens for multiple applications including Microsoft Lync. The lag disappear immediately if I switch application back and forth.

 

My settings:

HP ZBook 14

Intel i7-4600U CPU @2.1GHz @2.70GHz

Memory: 16GB

Secondary Monitor: LG LA2405wg; connected to docking station via DisplayPort 

OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit

Primary Video Card: Intel HD Graphics 

Secondary Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 8500M/8700M

 

 

We also know that:

1. there is no lag when laptop built-in monitor is the only monitor

2. there IS lag when secondary monitor is the only monitor (laptop monitor disabled)

 

I have tried the following:

1. Upgrade BIOS firmware

2. Enable/disable Hybrid Display Mode in BIOS

3. Resize video memory to 512MB

4. Uninstall/reinstall device drivers for video card / chipsets

5. Uninstall/reinstall AMD Catalyst Control Center

 

Any suggestions?

I had the same issue, tried reset the screen came up once.  After tuned it off and restarted the same issue happened again, the screen is black and I tried hard reset again.  I think it should work but was wrong...I tried hard reset over 100 times for  a chance but it continued to fail, I do not know if the CMOS battery has anything to do with this.  Anyway, please help, my laptop is HP Pavilion dv6, serial number [Personal Information Removed]. Additionally, I tried to hook up with an external screen via HDMI but nothing showed up in this screen either.  I do not know what else to do.  It is weird.  Please help again. Thanks.

When watching movies great sound but no picture, or message stating error with windows media player check updates for windows and drivers.  States all updated.

On power up the laptop display shows 2 copies of the bios/boot screen, one on top of the other. Windows then starts up and shows approx a 5x3 grid of 640x480 resolution login screens, all the same copy with some minor variations in color and some flicker. Trying to change the resolution on the display above 640x480 doesn't work as 640x480 is the max on the control panel. Hooking up an external display works fine unless you try to mirror the displays in which case the external is also stuck at 640x480. The warranty expired in March 2015. Help?

Hello I've got a problem with my laptops screen. The screen is completely black. Everything else works ok I connected it to another screen and alls well. The day before there was a small black area near the clock in the bottom left corner ( don't know if that's relevant).  Today everything was fine then the screen went black. What can I do?

I have had my laptop a couple months now,no issues Today when I restarted it, after turning on and the hp logo shows up and the bald turn Ina circle under it, it just goes to a black screen It is running and on and I can the start up music it makes at the sign on screen I did a hard reset and systems test and that did not help. If I hit f4 the screen for it to project does pop up on the laptop, but that is the only thing that does. I tried plugging it into external monitor via hdmi and I can see my mouse cursor but it fades away into the black screen really quick even though it still shows up on my laptop. Any ideas?

Hi there!

 

I have a Pavilion g6 1211eh notebook - I bought it used - after buying this prouct, I reinstalled the system, and installed all the drivers again. Until that I tried to use the HDMI output, but it don't want to work, whatever I do. Installed AMD again, disable and enable the video card reinstalled driver etc, but no.  If someone may know the solution I would be really happy, I tried EVERYTHING and still not works.

 

The HDMI cable is OK it works with a Pavilion G62

In my hp pavilion 15-ab027tx after downgrading on windows 7 ultimate 64bit switchable amd graphic is not working saying "amd catalyst control center can not start there are no setting that can vonfigured amd catalyst control center" plz help matherboard intel graphic driver is working fine and in device manger in other video controller and ethernet controller is shoeing plz help.....

Hi bought my mum a stream, keep getting green screen, have updated drivers and turned gpu off but it works for a short time then reverts back. Any long term ideas?

Hello. I just started having the same issue about 3 hours ago. I have done a hard reset and ran a system test and it says everything is fine. Then j go to start up again and after the spinning circle under go logo the laptop stays on and it's running but my screen just stays black. Only response it gets is hitting f4 for project but I have nothing to project it to. I have 13-A010DX

Hi , 

So , I have a problem with catalyst control center , 

Ihave AMD RADEON with switchable graphics , drivers installed and Intel HD 4000 for graphic cards ,

The catalyst control center and the configure switchable graphics option both detect just the Intel HD card , ignoring the Radeon , 

this is causing my computer to run slower when playing games , which I do most of the time , 

please help ,

The screen/display keeps expanding and contracting.  This is the second notebook I've purchased.  The sales clerk told me that problem as well as screen freezes, updates taking way too long, and delays in typing were due to downloading Windows 10.  I did not do that on this computer, only Windows 8.1.  This my second day with this one and the screen has expanded to that this box for texting has taken up the entire window.  All internet displays are mammoth.  1/8 page on a server home page takes up the whole screen.

Hoping someone can help me, have had a frustrating time trying to get my touchscreen to work once again, after searching the forum and trying everything I could find there, hoping there is something else I can do.

 

Here is what I have tried:

 

• Updating all drivers
• Running the hardware diagnostic (does not give me the option to test a touchscreen)
• Enabling the display in Tablet PC settings (all options grayed out)
• Flashing the BIOS
• Looking in the BIOS for any option to enable/disable touchscreen (none found)
• Using a clean install of Windows (HP option was not  available since I am using Windows 10 now)
• Removing and reinstalling display in device manager

I have a new Probook - this month. I tried to install the Windows 8.1 Disk that came with the computer but i get the error message: the screen resolution is not high enough for windows 8.1. Can i change this in order to get it installed? It didn't make sense that i couldn't install the disk... Thanks.

My spectere x360 tablet mode and auto rotation do not work.

 

I'm running Windows 8.1

 

When I put the PC in tablet mode, the keyboard does not disable.

 

Screen rotation does not work.

 

On other posts on this forum, I have seen others say that screen rotation stopped working after the PC recieved a new motherboard from HP. I suspect that my problems started after my motherboard was replaced by HP warranty (since the PC went in for warranty service almost right after I purchased it, I am not sure if those functions worked before).

Hello, I have an HP ProBook G1 450 laptop, Windows 7 64-bit, using an extended display on HDMI to an LG E2381 monitor. When opening "Screen resolution" window, Mobile PC Display number 1 is placed on the left, and the second display E2381 is set on the right but with coordinates of "2100,0" instead of "1367,0". Dragging the second display near the first display, the top left corner of the second display snaps as magnet near the first display, but when I hit "Apply" button the second display jumps back to the 2100,0 coordinate. It wouldn't be an issue if some of the programs wouldn't open in the gap between these 2 screens, between 1366 and 2100 pixels, where I cannot see nor control them to drag to visible screen, making them unaccessible.

Any hope to put the second screen from 1367,0 coordinates?

Hi

 

I have got a HP Pavilion 15 Notebook p261sa by my hand. The operation system is Windows 8.1 (64-bit). The problem is that there is one device that cannot be detected. Maybe missing a driver.

 

In the device manager, it is shown as "Unknown device". ACPI\SMB0001\3&11583659&0

Hardware IDs:

ACPI\VEN_SMB&DEV_0001

ACPI\SMB0001

*SMB0001

 

I searched the previous post in the HP support center. Some of them stating that it is Wireless Button driver, I downloaded from HP official website and iafter installation, it does not work. Some of them said it is AMD Chipset driver. I downloaded from AMD website it does not work either. Maybe there is something wrong with my understanding, or I downloaded the drivers which is not correct. Maybe the other drivers are missing or I just failed to configered it in some way.

 

Could someone help me to solve this problem? I have been stucked for a coule of days. I would be really appreciated if someone could provide any help.

I bought this chromebook around March of 2015 and just this month (september 2015) it won't turn on. I tried to charge it and the light that shows that it's charging turns on but when I try to turn it on it's unresponsive. Not a single light will turn on. I've let it charge for hours to see if that would work. I let it rest for a few days. I tried holding the power botton. I'm not sure what else I can do for it.

Hello,

I have a Pavilion 15-n251sa notebook which has only one video output, HDMI. I need to connect two monitors for dual display . Both displays have a VGA and a DVI port. I understand I can't use a spliiter because it would only show me the same display on both screens when I need to extend my desktop. 

How can I get this sorted? is there a cable that would connect one HDMI to 2 DVI? Do I need a new graphcs card and in which case, how can I fit it in?
