When I flash light on the screen I can see the display, but it is very dark. I have tried to adjust the screen brightness but that doesn't help. This has never happened before. In order for me to operate my laptop, I have it conneted to my Hd Tv through a HDMI cord. Do anyone know what the problem might be?

I bought a pair of Bose OE Soundlink headphones and can't get them to pair to my pc. I updated from Windows 8 to Windows 10. I was able to pair them to a friend's pc running windows 8 without any problems, but can't get them to work on mine. Do I need to install any driver(s) to connet to my headphones? What kind of driver would I need to install in order for bluetooth to work on my pc properly?

Hello folks.

I have replaced the software on my  HP Pavillion 15-N267SA with Windows 7, and have discovered that my HDMI connection to an external TV no longer works. The wire and TV worked when the laptop carried windows 8, so I have to assume I'm missing a driver, which I;m struggling to find. Can anyone help?

Cheers

Automatic Display On battery

Hi,

A few days ago i bought this HP Notebook (HP 15-ac018na Laptop) with an Intel processor & Intel graphics, now the probelm I'm facing is that On Battery the laptop will dim/brighten the display according to the page i'm currently on, so for example I go to the start screen that is quite dark and the display will dim itself and then if i go onto a bright program such as PC Settings the display is all washed out, the display will not long after re calibrate the brightness but to speed that up i just press the brightness key to stop it, but its a massive nucence as you can imagine..

Now please note that I have tried the following with no luck:

  1. Change battery plans
  2. Update drivers
  3. Perform a Windows Refresh
  4. Re install the graphics driver - IF i uninstall the intel driver and replace it with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, it works, but then i can't ever adjust brightness...
  5. The Intel HD Graphics centre doesn't have an option to turn off automatic brightness...

Please help since this is driving me mad and i might end up taking the laptop back if i can't find a solution.

Switching to Windows 10 disabledd F2 & F3 brightness control buttons

After switching to WIndows 10 (from 7 Home Premium) the wifi turn on/turn off button (F12) and brightness control buttons (F2 & F3) stopped working. I have already come across a driver package to activate wireless button, but I cannot find any for handling brightness level (there are other ways to control it, I know, but none so convenient). I have already tried out the hard reset solution. Is there any way to solve this problem?

Does HP 3D video software work in Wondows 10?

Hi everyone,

I recently updated my HP Envy 17 laptop form Windows 7 to the new Windows 10 version. Before doing it, I could use my device to watch 3D movies thanks to the MediaSmart software that was installed originally.

However, after the update the MeidaSmart software is gone entirely and I can't no longer use my laptop to watch 3D movies (and that's something I payed for).

Is there any Windows 10 software I can use to solve this problem?

Thanks for helping me out.

Elitebook 8730 LCD brightness

The display seems dim. This machine has the Quadro 2700m graphics processor and the standard 1920 x 1200 display (no dreamcolor). I see measurements for light output everywhere in reviews for new machines, but how is this being measured. Am I looking for a piece of equipment, or can this be done via software. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Hi HP,

I recently bought this machine and I really need a compatible pen to drawing on it, could you please advice me which stylus pen with sensitive touch would work on this display specifications? I am afraid I can not find any information about it but the specificaions on the product descriptions looks like it is the same screen as the spectre x360. Please let me know as soon as possible as I need to order a pen and I dont want to spend more money and it does not work.

External CRT refresh rate at Win10 & EliteBook 840 G2

$

Question in short:  How to make EliteBook 840 laptop support higher than 60 Hz refresh rate for an external Cathode Ray Tube monitor?

Longer version:

I have an external 19" CRT as my main display, with desktop extended to the laptop built-in panel.  I was using Windows 8.1, which nicely supported 1024 x 768 resolution at 85 Hz refresh rate for the CRT.  The built-in display panel is at 1920 x 1080 resolution, with the laptop on a docking station next to the CRT.  Nice setup.

Now I upgraded to Windows 10, and the same setup is still possible, but the CRT can be driven at 60 Hz refresh rate (progressive) only, which makes the image flicker, so it is not usable for continuous work.  (CRT display image geometry I can correct with the CRT monitor settings.)

I called a local Microsoft support person (in Finland), and he suggested that the proper display driver is not yet available for the display controller in Win10 (not with the Win 8-to-10 upgrade pack itself at least), while it has been available for Windows 8.1.  Is this the problem, or is the problem elsewhere?  Assuming that this is the problem:  Can the driver be downloaded from somewhere now?  If not, can I expect to get the driver some day later?

If the flickering i.e. CRT refresh rate cannot be fixed, I suppose I will revert back to Windows 8.1.  However, I only have one month to do so ...

Miscellaneous data

Product Name:  HP EliteBook 840 G2 14"

Operating System:  Microsoft Windows 10 (64 bit)

Display adapter for both panel and CRT:  Intel HD Graphics 5500

Monitor Type for built-in panel:  Generic PnP Monitor

Monitor Type for CRT:  Generic Non-PnP Monitor

(Intel HD Graphics Control Panel says "Digital Display".)

CRT monitor:  Nokia Multigraph 446Xpro (old but still excellent, they seem to last forever, and support high resolutions when needed – flickering is a problem at the daily use on 1024 x 768 resolution)

I would very much appreciate any hints, thank you.  For instance, "Win10 does not support CRTs any more and that's it" would solve my problem, although not in the preferred way:  I would then revert back to Windows 8.1 during the one month "changed my mind" time window.

Touchscreen display problem? "bubbles" appearing on screen

I'm trying to figure out if this is a software, hardware or component problem.  Bubbles appear on the screen down the left hand side and these bubbles can activate icons and app tiles.  Touchscreen is inoperative when this is happening.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05y6kVZOy3A

I have tried restoring and resetting the laptop to factory settings but still this is happening.  Is there a way to deactivate the touch function and just use the screen as a monitor?  Thanks in advance.

Touchscreen going berserk

The $1,500 HP Spectre x360 Convertable lasted just 6 weeks of non-travel, desktop use before the touchscreen decided to take of and go berserk.  Once the touchscreen takes off - you have to hard reset to get the system back on, until it decides to take off again.

I've loaded the latest HP updates including multiple bios updates (in under 2 weeks) from the HP website.  I've kept it just long enough that I cannot return it to Best Buys for a refund/exchange.  After an hour of frustration on the HP "help" pages I finally found a phone number to call, wait 30 minutes and talk to a real human.  I now have to ship it off for 3+ weeks for repair.  As an added insult, they will not back-up anything on your system - a complete noob wipe and reload.  Very poor customer service for their flagship laptop.

This is the worst laptop I've ever purchased with the worst service - HP has lost me as a future customer.
