I have the same problem as others here:
sometimes the icon "volume" is dissapiring.... Why? I do not hide it for a purpose....
So annoying...
I tried to do what you say, it does not work.
And I do not have a button "start".
How to get icon "volume" back, please?
My laptop HP True Vision HD
I have Intel 15 with i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GH and 4gb ram. With dedicated Video card Geforce 820m.
But the computer is ultra slow. It takes 30 secs for a word document to open. I am fearing the low memory due to shared memory usage from Intel video card. I tried to disable Intel video card but it didn't help. Even though I close all my programs %50 of memory constanly used by Video card.
So I wonder is there another problem i should look for or is the shared memory causing this slow operation. If it is the shared memory how can disable shared memory?
Please help me on that issue. I have a desktop far more worse than this ones hardware but its way more faster.
My HP Pavilion dv6 always used to go into sleep mode everytime I closed the lid as it's supposed too. However recently when I close the lid it just loops the login screen as if you've locked your laptop. It makes the sound it used to make when I'd open the lid to wake it up.
As far as I am aware there have been no software changes recently that could have caused this.

since the update to the actual driver versions (Intel: sp70951 and AMD: sp71151) I have problems with my ZBook.
Intel WiDi doesn't work and I can't play videos from Youtube (the video is black). Now I installed the old drivers and all works fine.
Another thing that irritates me is that the HP Support Assistant shows the "new" drivers with the date from 2013 and 2014.
Whats the problem?
My only solution is to install the old drivers but thats not the best solution.

My screen is dimmed down all the way. It will fix if I unplug it, take out the battery, press the start button for a few minutes, put the battery back in, and restart. BUT the second I plug it back in to charge - the screen goes dim again.
the f2 f3 buttons don't work, I have the brightness turned all the way up in "edit plan settings."
The "power options" screen brightness slider is stuck on dark, and won't move.

I was working on my assingments, and after some time my screens brightness has gone very low. I just cannot see my desktop, but my laptop is working just fine. Please fix this display issue.
So, now I work on my laptop by connecting a HDMI cable from my Laptop to TV.
My HP Pavilion will not play any videos from my iphone as it says windows media player has stopped working.
It is not the phone as this does not happen on other laptops.
Hi, I want to ask for a solution for my broken screen. I dropped my envy touchsmart and the LED panel and touchscreen panel cracked. I bought the laptop for around $1,050, when I ask for a replacement at HP service center, it cost me around $550 (so expensive, more than half price of the brand new one) to replace both the LED and touchscreen panel. But they also give me an option to replace the LED by myself (it cost me around $80), and buy the touchscreen panel only for around $100, but I will lose the touchscreen capability.
Is it true that if I only buy the touchscreen panel, the touchscreen won't work again? As far as I know, in the panel, there is some connector to make the touchscreen capability work again. Or maybe the service center want to rip their customer off?
Does anyone have the model number to replace the screen and any other place where I can buy the part cheaper?
My hp probook laptop (4540s) Screen flickers and simultaneuosly get stuck. It remians stuck till the flicker stops. Flickering only happen at the top edge of teh screen.
Initally there was this flickering at the top of the screen and now simulataneuos to the flickering computer get stuck.
Please advice where the root cause is.

This horizontal dotted line has appeared across my screen. It doesn't show when connected to an external monitor so it is definitely a problem with the screen. Is there any solution to this other than changing the screen?
Maddening. When I click some software icons, e.g. MEGA (cloud storage), in lower right of Windows 8.1 x64, the text font is so small I can not read it. I already have gone into Personalization, Display and chosen make text larger, turned off the checkbox of making one display size for all displays. This happens whether I am at default 2660x1440 or 1920x1080 display. Is there anything I can do to remedy this issue, because it is maddening to try and almost not be able to read the dialog box text of some applications like MEGA; or is the fault simply with MEGA? If this what super high def laptops do for usability I rather go back a normal laptop with maximum 1920x1080 as I have not seen this issue with my previous laptop, nor on my desktop PC also running Windows 8.1 x64 and super high resolution and MEGA software.
I want a 3 monitor setup (laptop screen and 2 external monitors). I have the EliteBook 6930p and I am using the docking station. I have one external monitor hooked up to VGA and the other external monitor hooked up via DVI. The laptop sees all 3 monitors, but I can only get 2 to be active at one time.
How do I enable all 3 to be active at one time so they can act as indenpendant displays?
I was typing an assignment when my pc suddenly froze and produced this loud noise, which lasted for about 30sec. It then went to a bright blue screen telling me my PC has crashed and will restart soon. It loaded to 100% then restarted, but the screen came up black; only the LCD light is present. It runs normal as the screen blinks as it would after the HP screen loads on boot up, and all the lights are on. Furthermore, I use the finger print scan to log in and it works as I can hear my Skype login.
I tried the hard reset and nothing. I tried HDMI and it worked. However, I foolishly uninstalled the graphics from device manager thinking that it would reinstall upon reboot and solve my problem: it didn't. Now I have a blank screen and I can't use HDMI as I uninstalled the graphics thing. When I press f4 the screen doesn't do anything, it doesn't source to external physically output. I can't even adjust screen brightness anymore and I previously could before I deleted the graphics. I am out of ideas.
Please help me. My assignment is due a day from now and I need to complete it. :cry:
I own a newly bought HP Pavilion 15 Notebook, less than a month old.
For a couple of days now I've been trying to tweak with the display because I'm kind of meticulous and I like my displays in
high resolutions. I do not understand why, although this laptop(15.6") is geared with an nVidia GeForce 840M - 2GB, it can only display up to 1366x768, I want eveything in my screen to fit and this resolution doesn't allow me.
I checked my laptop's settings and it says that it's using Intel as the default display adaptor. Is there a way to switch and use nVidia as my default? And I do not mean just switching GPU for softwares/programs, I actually want my laptop to use nVidia as it's adaptor just like the way desktops do, becuase I doubt that an nVidia GeForce 840M with 2GB memory can only go up to 1366x768, I believe it can go higher.
So, if anyone here knows how to deal with this, please post your ideas!
