I recently replaced my pavilion dv6 3240ca mainboard with a new one that I purchased online. The difference between the two main boards are the factory board(3240ca) had a hd radeon 6370m and 4250(switchable). The new board purchased (mainboard #631082-001) uses HD radeon 6550m with the same energy saving 4250.

 

I am not sure which model the new board came from. In BIOS  have found the Product number to be #XB531EA#ABU if that helps determining the model. Also the AMD phenom II N870 processor swapped over as both boards have the same s1 socket.

 

Basically when I attempt to install a driver from another dv6 3XXX series notebook(tried 3286ca graphics driver as I found out it has the 6550m/4250 combo), the AMD installer prompts windows update which detects HD radeon 5650m.

 

5650m is not the correct graphics card however the two are closely related. The main difference being 6550m supports directX 11 and 5650m does not. Would like to install the correct driver for my graphics card, so is there a way around windows update insalling the wrong driver??

hi i have a hp pavilion dm4-2100ex and it has 2 display adapters intel and amd but now i notice the amd catalyst is gone and when i checked display adapters in device manager the only one left there is intel. i tried installing the amd graphics but when it is installed it is still not there... i also tried reinstalling the amd using recovery manager drivers and application reinstal and was told installed success but when i check again in the device manager the amd display adapter is still missing what to do please help me

i HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY SCREEN APPEARS TO SHORT OUT?  IT HAPPENS MORE SO WHEN THERE IS ACTIVITIY ON THE SCREEN, LIKE VIDEO OR MULTIPLE WINDOWS......OTHERWISE IT IS MOSTLY EVIDENT DURING INITIAL BOOT UP ONCE USER SETTINGS ARE BEING LOADED INTO  WINDOWS ENVIROMENT.  ALSO CAN'T REGISTER MY LAPTOP SAYS IT DON'T EXIST?

Hi, i got HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-b109wm Sleekbook . I tried to update my Intel Graphics HD with a version of 9.17.10.2857, with an updated version of 15.28.22.64.3517, after installing the driver software, i restarted my pc, when i get back and check the device manager, looks like this:

 

 

It also said that i should try re-installing the driver, after trying to reinstall the driver it says:

 

 

I also used the HP Recovery Manager hoping that the reinstall of driver Intel Graphics HD will be fine, but after installing and restart, no luck still the same results in the image 1. No matter what versions of Intel Graphics HD i install, there's no luck to it. I hope some of you guys could help me.

1. problem, when i type product number in "find my product", this apears "
We were unable to locate the Drivers & Software downloads page for 'J4U29ES"
2. I installd all drivers from HP 355 G2 Notebook PC. My graphics card is AMD Radeon R5 M240, and my procesor is AMD Beema APU Quad Core Processor A8-6410. I have 4 GB dd3 ram memory, 750 GB HDD, and still cannot play movie smooth in popcorn time and bs player, and all other programs are slow.

 

I have switchable graphics and i cannot instal AMD OMEGA driver for my GPU,what should i do ???

HI

 

I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1235dx Entertainment Notebook PC.

 

My LCD screen has had a 'flickering' problem since 2011.

As I soon understood,the problem is with the LCD Video Cable (display cable).

Every six months or so the problem would return and I would,

yet again, have to play around with the cable inside the computer.

The flickering would stop but it was only a matter of time before it began again.

 

I found a referance to this problem in the following link:

I bought a cable on ebay that appeared to be the correct one, but it didn't fix the problem.

Vise versa, I had almost no display at all.

 

I bought a very similar product-

How, then, can I find the exact same cable for my computer?

When I upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1 my DVD quit working.  I have tried EVERYTHING listed on this site as well as a few others short of doing a refresh back to 8.0.  Nothing has solved the problem.  When I try to play a DVD it doesn't recognize any software that will play it.  States I need to buy a program??  However, I don't have any issues when playing youtube videos or doing live streaming of movies from Amazon.

 

Had to do a refresh once before with 8.0 to get the audio back up after an update and would rather not go there again.

I recently received my laptop that customizable about 1 week ago. And at first I've been noticing a white spot (kind of blurry and only is really visible on a white screen) on my screen. I thought that it would eventually disappear but it didn't. I really want to get this fixed and I don't think I should be paying for this due to the fact that it wasn't even my fault for this defect. But the problem is, that I really can't send the laptop away for weeks because I have school and really need a computer at the moment. Is there any ways to fix this fast, can I send this to an authorized hp repair center, which is nearby (under warranty)?  Or do I really have to ship my laptop and wait for a really long time?

I play a DVD movie and it does fine.  Replay it and the screen freezes on certain scenes or sections.  I have to eject start all over and it happens consistently at the same screen.  This has happened with mulitiple movies.  They run fine and then they don't.

After reinstall/recovery from the system, I installed all the latest drivers. Since than the screen does not respond when the laptop restart after sleeping mode.

 

I tried to go to the default BIOS setup with F10 and F9 but no change.

 

I think I need to go back to an older BIOS but do not know how.

 

Hope someone can help.

I recently had used my NVIDIA graphics card yesterday and it was working fine,since I turned off my laptop the day after that my PC couldn't detect my NVIDIA Geforce 740/750m quite not sure about it.
When opening the nvidia control panel nothing comes out,and the geforce experience keeps telling me it couldn't find a driver in this PC. Everything was running well the day before this happened.

Hoping to find some help and solutions for this.

No display and no harddisk respond... Tried several times power off and on... Once it has opened... But now it wont...when I press on button... Capslock linght blinks once but the screen goes on blank... If any solution for this... Please comment fast...

My notebook is too slow, i don't know the reasons why.

CPU: AMD Beema APU Quad Core Processor A8-6410

GPU: AMD Radeon R5 M240 (i have switchable graphics)
RAM: 4 GB ddr3

 

I installed latest drivers from HP Supprot Center, then I tried to install  AMD Catalyst™ Notebook Display Driver (omega 14.12), that was even worse. Swichable graphics app setting has disappeared and my pc worked more slowly. Than i bring back driver from HP Support. What shoud i do?

I even cannot watch movie smoothly.

So I bought a new system board for my laptop online without knowing which model it came from, so I checked the Bios for the product number which is XB531EA#ABU. Then I checked HP drivers website and entered the product number which said the model number is Dv6-3031sa. When I researched the specifications for that model, it says the GPU in this board should be Radeon HD 5470m. However driver updates detected Radeon 5650m, hardware Ids in device manager confirms it is a 5650m

Press power buttom - hear fan - f12 key lights - caps lock key blinks once every two seconds

 

Tried hard reset - removed and replaced ram one strip at a time.

 

Repeated sequence several times and nothing changes.

 

Please help me recover data.

Opened a MPEG video file in HP MediaSmart video Main program and edited the file name. Now when I try to open the file it will not open in Windows Media player or my other video edit/programs.  I did not make a copy of the file or do I have a backup, it's the original.  How can I fix this?

HP ENVY TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx touch screen has stopped working.  This has just happened for no apparent reason.  I can see some similar posts recently, but no solutions.  Can anyone advise?  Thanks.

My Laptop screen (15.6) appears to work fine during boot up and displays the windows boot screen without any problems. Then just as the boot sequence finishes the screen starts flickering and I don't mean the backlight. It looks very similar to an old TV that has lost vertical sync, I can just about make out the correct desktop screen but there are several others flickering up and down in a ghost like effect.

The laptop works fine on an external monitor, is this the screen itself or graphics GPU, I have not updated the driver so I'm assuming it's a hardware fault....any ideas?
