help with green screen on videos

There must be some bug in the HP laptops that causes so many complaints about the green screen. I had to reinstall my system because there was some problem that my anti virus and malwarebytes couldn't fix. So, low and behold the old green screen on videos reappeared. I tried a former solution given to me by one of HP techs on here. I went to tools, internet options, advanced and then clicked on Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering. Wasn't working. So I download HP Support assistant. In the search I put Green screen on videos. The only thing that came up was to fix a video card. I don't have a video card. I looked at the suggestion on the forum to update Flash player. I got the message that Flash  player is installed with 8.1 so not install for it.  I realize a great deal of problems are caused by Microsoft negligent creation of 8.1 but hopefully the HP techs can do a better job of addressing this. BTW don'l look forward to updating to Windows 10 if you are paying for an extended warrenty. Microsoft say's if you upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8 or 8.1, you warrenty is invalidated.

Dear Expert,

I am having problem with my HP entertainement notebook. I was using windows 8 and one day it stopped / showed black screen after booting while logging into windows. When I booted it in safe mode I disabled the AMD 6490m graphics card and booted again , It logged into windows. Since then I have Unistalled previous windows, Updated bios, Installed windows 7 and Installed the orignal video drivers but I am facing the same problem.

Windows does boot when I disable the AMD graphics and enable the Intel HD 3000 graphics. As soon as I enable the AMD graphics and install switchabale graphcis driver , The screen freezes and windows won't boot. I have tried hard resetting, Bios Updating and rollbacks but the problem presists.

Right now my System Is on intel graphics and I have disabled the AMD graphics processor from the device manager. As soon as I enable it or install the drivers system does not boot.

I shall be very thankful for any help. PLEASE.

Regards

Sudden black screen on HP Pavilion dv7-4173us

I have tow HP Pavilion dv7-4173us.

This happened before on one HP Pavilion dv7-4173us and I have to replace the motherboard.

And now it happened again on the other HP Pavilion dv7-4173us.

Sounds like it has a built-in defect.

It has been running fine for a long time.

in fact is completed full virus scan yesteray.

First when I try to use the laptop that was in sleppp mode, the screen remains black.

Then I rebooted, I see a black screen.

I rebooted multiple times, same black screen.

However, I noticed the light on caps lock kept blinking.

Is there a manual to trouble shoot?

What is causing the problem?

Thanks.

Screen colours inverted, also flickers back to normal

When the laptop is turned on the screen colurs are inverted i.e. blue becomes orange, white becomes black etc. at times it flickers back to normal colours i.e blue shows as blue etc.

I have checked magnifers invert colours isn't turned on but when I do turn it on the inverted colours switch to normal colours obviously. There is also a vertical shimmer like every other vertical line is missing or phases in and out.

I have booted into safe mode to see if its a driver issue but the colours are still inverted, I've booted into the BIOS and again the colours are inverted and just to cover all bases I booted a live DVD of Mint Linux 17.1 and the legendary green of the mint distro was a lovely lilac. I've also tried high contrast i.e. Left ALt + left Shift + Print Screen.

My feeling is its the graphic chip or the monitor and I'm hedging more towards the monitor. Tomorrow I'll do a screengrab to see how that comes out and will also connect to an external monitor to see if the flicker and shimmer is still present.

Considering this is literally a month and 6 days out of guarantee it pretty bad, I would have expected a bit longer from a laptop before it started failing.

Envy 4-1118TU Notebook HDMI video during early startup and BIOS setup

My HP Envy Touchsmart model 4-1118TU has suffered some damage.   The screen is cracked and unreadable, and the notebook no longer appears to boot Windows.  However, the notebook harddrive is active for about a second after powerup, and the notebook does respond to some key sequences.  If I could see what the notebook is displaying during the early startup using an external monitor, I may be able to recover this notebook and convert it to a desktop.  Does the Envy 4-1118TU model have the ability to output HDMI video during the early startup and BIOS setup?
