Hello,

I am having an issue with my laptop HP pavilion dv4 (windows 7)When I turn it on there is a black screen. The lights are all normal and when I plug it up to a different monitor it works perfectly fine I have no error messages or anything. I have tried taking the battery and ac adaptor out for thirty seconds and it still does the same thing I just cannot get anything to show on the laptop screen. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My webcam picture appears blurry when using SKYPE....the person I call sees a blurry picture and I see a blurry picture when I test the camera....HP said its not a camera problem.....drivers?

I have a HP Envy dv7 Notebook PC. It recently just downloaded the new HP Assistant and I wanted to adjust the brightness because it was too bright for the dark room I was in. I tried using the F2 and F3 keys to lower the brightness and I tried to adjust it from settings and control panal but the brightness doesn't adjust when I move it up or down. I tried shutting down my computer and restarting it but I still can't adjust the brightness. Help!

Hey,

 

I used to connect my video app to my xbox360, but since I have taking my xbox to a friend one night he can't connect anymore. Does onyone know how I can fix this?

I have Hp G42, and recently a problem has created. all the black colour of my screen turn into red colur. i check the driver and update that also. no improvement.  startup screen also shows red colour. Difficult to deal with this problem. please provide me a solution.

Sleep mode, Windows 7 on lap top dv5 model.  A few days ago, the system started going into the sleep mode after a few minutes of inactivity.  Otherwise, it worked fine for 2 years.

 

I explored power options.  Even when I changed the sleep and off functions, the same going into the sleep mode after a few minutes happens.  This despite, choosing differen power options, changing the timing within the  options and verifying that they are still there after shutdown and rebootI

 

I did look at recently loaded software, addons and extentions and will look there again.  I will  also do a full shut down and take out the lithium battery for a few minuates as well.

 

Daily I run Essentials, Malware bytes, AVG and/or Panda.  I also run Glary and Wise Register.

Error, camera not detected when using yahoo messenger on my HP ENVY X2.

 

I tried already to followed instruction on yahoo messenger issues and problems, but still not working.

 

It appears "camera not detectred" always.

 

Please help!

My wife's mini 1000 behaved like a key was stuck with the display scrolling continuously, like a key was stuck.  In rolling my finger over the keys, I caused the display to get out of kilter.  In trying to reset it, I inadvertantly changed the resolution or some other parameter so that the screen shows very big letters but only the top portion of the content that the computer is trying to display.

 

Now I can't get back to the portion of the "display" screen to change the parameters back to where they should be (what ever those numbers are).  Is there a way to either scroll the content or reset the display parameters back to the set that the mini came with???

 

Help!!!

Very odd problem. My laptop power profile is set to dim the screen after 1 minute, and turn the screen off after 2 minutes. It will dim the screen, but after 2 minutes, it goes back to full brightness. This will repeat indefinitly. I've asked for help over at the MS Community forum but so far haven't made progress. This is more or less a repeat of that post in the hopes someone here knows more.

 

System:

HP 4540s laptop (6 months old)

Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics

Windows 7 Pro 64

No external devices attached

 

Problem: (started a week or two ago, doesn't correspond to any hardware/software change than I can think of)

Screen will not turn off after no activity. It will dim after the set delay, it will enter sleep after the set delay, but it will not turn off the screen after the set delay. I'm talking about power profile settings here.

 

If I make the screen turn off, using Autohotkey for example, it will turn off, but come back on on its own after 10 to 15 seconds. Sometimes it will stay off longer—up to a minute. Seemingly at random.

 

So far I've tried:

1. Changing power profile settings for screen turn off time.
2. Changing power profiles, playing with on battery, on AC power, etc.
3. Running Control Panel→Troubleshooter→power category
4. Event Viewer Kernel-Power and Power-Troubleshooter, nothing but regular 'entering sleep' messages
5. Closing all programs.
6. Disabling all startup items in msconfig.
7. Disabling all non-MS services in msconfig.
8. Deleting the graphics driver, reverting to generic VGA driver which Windows installs automatically.
9. Reinstalling the graphics driver downloaded from the HP site for the 4540s. (Intel HD 3000, 8.15.10.2712)
10. Installing all Windows updates and latest HP drivers (DO NOT install the latest sound driver, it will break the audio output, so I rolled that back)
11. Restarting many times.
12. Disabling ability to wake the computer of network cards, track pad and other devices I could think of.
13. Ran powercfg /lastwake in elevated cmd prompt. Didn't show anything.
14. Checking the graphics driver—it's the latest for my chipset (Intel HD 3000, 8.15.10.2712)

Short of reinstalling Windows I have tried everything I can thikn of. I used to use this feature nearly every day so it's driving me nuts. I keep thinking event viewer or powercfg might be able to show events related to screen off but I don't know what they are and haven't been able to find them on google.

 

If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them! Thanks!

I can't even tell what driver I need, because it doesn't tell what Graphics model I have. Can anyone link me to the latest graphics driver?

I have three dv7 computers and all three no longer play Flash in IE since updating to IE 9 than 10.  We have done the unistall and reinstall of Flash, the disabling and enabling of add ons.

These copmuters have two (hybrid) graphics cards by Radeon.  The Intel HD and the 7470M.

We updated the Intel HD through intel and Flash and all other graphics worked, but the screens stay blank when waking from sleep. 

We rolled the drivers back and tried to use the update diver throuh HP website but get the error "this computer does net meet the minimum requirements to install The software".

We have a website we have to use with IE so Chrome and Firefox are not an option (though flash does work with these).

Curren driver is 8.882.2.3000 for both the 7470M and the Intel HD.

Any ideas how to get the updated driver from HP website to install?

I am trying to install 8.15.10.2476 which has solved the WHQL issue.

Just received an HP ENVY 17t Quad TouchSmart, Serial Number: 5CG333071S after the shipment had been delayed from the 6th to the 20th, apparently because of an issue with the touchscreen. I was told it would be resolved by the 20th and fully tested before shipping. Unfornately this doesn't appear to be the case. Is this resolveable?

Is there a quick way of disabling/enabling the touch screen on the HP Envy model# m7-j078ca?

 

There isn't an option to disable the finger touch on the Pen & Touch tab on Control Panel

I've upgraded my laptop from Win7 home premium to Win8 pro, everything in good condition but I still have a big problem  with my VGA graphics, my VGA graphics was AMD radeon mobility 5470 and it couldn't recognize the driver, so I try everything to fix it, nothing done!! I installed intel HD graphics again with older version from HP, nothing change, so some body tell me how to fix it, thank all of you so much.

I chose to turn off the display  after 10 minutes not using the laptop. When I play the video I downloaded from the internet , the display turn off after playing 10 minutes. How can fix it ?

I have an HP Mini 210t -1100 that I purchased in late 2010. When my computer tries to boot up it comes up with a black screen. The Caps lockbutton lights up, and it sounds like the fan comes on, but nothing else. I have tried the hard reset and the problem has still persisted. I do not have an external monitor that I can connect it to. There is no way that I can see for me to take off the back of the notebook to look at the hard drives and what not. I tried to do the testing using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI and I press the F2 key, with and without pressing th fn key, once a second for a full minute and it pulls up no screen at all. Same with th F8, and F11 key. Also, my computer does not have a CD drive, nor do I have the discs.

I got a new HP Envy touch screen and I am having this Ghost touch problem on the right side of the screen.  There are random touches that happens on the right side of the screen - with out my intervention and because of it so many clicks happen on the application I am in e.g. Automatically the fonts gets bigger new apps open etc.

Friends; I own a HP Mini 2140 with an integrated webcam. I recently installed new programs, Now the webcam simply does not work in skype, facebook, etc.. It does not appear in the control panel; what appears is "video usb device". Not even directly clicking on the video device an image appears. My operating system is: Microsoft Windows XP Professional version 2002 service pack 3". I know it`s an old machine but right now I can`t get a new one and I really need the webcam, ¿what is wrong? Hi guys just checked on my laptop today and its default display interl 4000 I think. Some says it has a "switching" video card (or controller). Just want to ask if it is possible to make the radeon graphics the default one because I don't want to use the build it intel display adapter.
