Busted motherboar/screen cable
So I was travelling back from a short trip a couple months ago, had my Envy Dv6 with me on the plane, it was bumpy. Didn't think much of it until I saw a cracked and distorted screen a couple days later. Finally got the time to get it fixed, so I took it to Best Buy Geek Squad to get the screen replaced two days ago. They called and said the new screen was fine but that there was still distortion and that the cable that goes from the motherboard to the screen was no good.
Is that true? If so, how can I fix it? Guess I need a new cable, maybe? Where can I get one? Help!

Flickering line on envy dv7 monitor
This is a repost from yesterday. For the past several days a narrow horizontal line appears in the lower part of the screen on my Envy dv7 laptop - Windows 8, Intel i5 processor - that I purchased in Janurary 2013.The line flickers in various colors and is very annoying. I pulled up the BIOS screen and the line does not appear. I don't have another monitor to plug into, so I can't run that test. Everything else is functioning normally. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Had to reformatt now video card will not install.not sure what graphics card i have.

Laptop won't maintain external monitor as sole display

Applications "refreshed" after Bluetooth malfunction
I have an external monitor connected to my laptop by VGA. Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers and Display Settings for the monitor allows me to select "Show desktop only on 2", which is the external display. Apply > OK creates a display on the external monitor only, which is my preferred setup.
Unfortunately, this setting won't persist. If the laptop sleeps or I power off, I have to repeat the process and select the external monitor again.
Prior to the "refresh", I did not have to select the external display every event of a power cycle. Prior to this laptop, I had a Lenovo that allowed me to select an external monitor as desktop. I find it hard to conceive that a driver that allows you to project a display on one of multiple monitors would be written to apply to the current session only. Any information on how to make this setting persist would be appreciated.

AMD Radeon HD 6770M - 2 GB GDDR5 out of ~6GB dedicated
Installed the latest version of Win 8.1 + all it's updates + the update 1. So it's as latest as possible. Even installed those Win Updates that MS threatened they will only offer to a certain point it time in May and not later than that. So it's all updated.
However, the GPU drivers don't work. Tried different forums too and even tried those brightness registry fix files, but still to no avail. Will HP ever provide a meaningful GPU driver both for Win7 and Win8? I am saying Win7 too, cos the one offered currently for my HP Pavilion dv7-6b76eo is ridiculously old ....

Hi to all , i've upgraded my laptop to the last version of windows 8.1. Windows update found some drivers and i've downloaded it.. My laptop (pavilion dv6-3135el ) have a switchable graphic card ( an ati radeon hd 5470 , and an ati radeon hd 4xxx series) but whit the win8's drivers i haven't the function to swith my graphic mode (high/low performance) , i 've searched for some nwe driver ( on amd site , and here on hp , last haven't a win 8 driver for my laptop..) but i can't find something that can work fine.. :( can someone help me ?

Graphic card drivers
I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4223ca with Windows 8.1. I try to update my drivers for my 2 video cards (AMD Radeon HD 6300 M Series and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series. Where I can found the drivers for those cards. I can't update those drivers from AMD.com. I don't think that the AMD driver package works properly.

The glass on my HP Envy Touchsmart 15 Notebook (15-J021TX) E3B17PA has cracked (yes - someone stood on it).
What is the replacement part code. The Screen is OK - its just the glass.
How do I replace it also. Cant find the exact instruction in the Maintenance and Service Guide. The one I have does not mention the Glass - only the screen and the Bezel.

hp pavilion e030sa touch screen problems
Recently bought a hp pavilion e030sa it's only 4 months old! The touch screen is playing up its clicking everything and anything and no one is touching the laptop at all, it's just going off by itself! I'm a student and use this for work and It's getting to the point where you can't use it let alone switch it on because it's randomly clicking everything in its path and you can't navigate in the laptop at all. Please please can someone help.

Why does my screen shrink when I am using it?
I just bought an HP noteook and my screen starts shrinking while I am using it - I have never used Windows 8 before but I am not changing anything when this happens and cannot find anywhere that allows me to change the zoom ...... HELP - this is very frustrating....

sluggish playback on EliteBook 8740w while editing HD video in AE Premier CS5
I use my EliteBook 8740w, running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 to edit video in Adobe Premier CS5. It works well in SD, however I recently I started a project in HD and the playback in Premier is so slow and/or jittery that it is impossible to match video and audio.
In Premier, when I hit the space bar to play the video, it takes several seconds to start and the audio plays, but the video skips around, missing frames and often just freezing.
The project files are on a WD Passport 1TB portable drive connected to a USB port.
Does anyone have any ideas about what's happening?
