    I have bought HP Pavailion 14 for a week already. I have been using Ubuntu 18.04 from the start. I have installed Nvidia driver 390 a couple days ago. Immediately, I found my laptop's monitor showed garbage which indicated my laptop had freezed after I tried to wake my laptop up from sleep mode.


    I upgraded to driver 396 afterwards. But I still have this issue.


    I tested the freeze issue again by closing the lid and reopening it. It freezes every time I do it.


    Please provide a fix. I know I am not the only one having this issue. I found another guy posted a similar issue on a different HP laptop in this forum.

    Hi, I recently bought 2 HP Z27n G2 27" monitor and therefore I installed the "HP Display Assistant" software on my machine.

    This youtube video briefly shows the software I am talking about:

    I am used to have everything set to English on my machine (although my native language is Italian and so my  main Keyboard is set to Italian)
    Although I selected English as installation language for the HP Display Assistant, the software UI appears in Italian: it  seems to me that the software detects the keyboard main language (in my case Italian) or the region (mine is set to Italy) and then sets the UI language accordingly.

    In the software options there are no settings to change the language, so I was wondering if it possible to change the language editing a registry key or changing a config file setting. I already searched for both occurences on my machine but without much luck.
    I also searched the internet for additional info and solution regarding this "issue" but  even in this case I haven't found any reference or any solution.

    I accidentally cracked my screen when bending it backwards. I need the laptop's touchsceen for my business and so need it replacing. The touchsceen works on half the screen, but not the side it's cracked and recalibrating only works for half of the screen. What part do i need to replace it and where can i get this from? Thanks

    Got a very strange issue. I can't tell which model of radeon I have.


    If i install old oem catalyst Drivers, like what i have on now, under Device Manager it's RADEON (TM) HD 7690 XT.

    Under GPU-Z, the same.


    If i install the last crimson drivers for legacy GPUs, i get AMD Radeon HD 6770M M2 (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated).

    Under GPU-Z and AMD Settings, it's 6770M.




    I would really like to know which GPU i am using. i can see 2GB dedicated memory, both are part of switchable graphics (the internal being Intel HD 3000). also why this is happening, because i feel the old oem catalyst drivers are more suitable, but at the same time, i believe it is more likely to be a 6770M... this laptop was purchased in 2011 ...

     I have an HP laptop (Pavilion touchsmart 14 sleekbook), and whenever I plug it in, it turns on, but it does not charge. The battery level is at 0 percent but it shows 'plugged in, charging'.

  • I recently bought an HP Pavillion x360 and it came with an active stylus pen. Every few days the pen stops working. I know the pen is compatible with my computer, I have replaced the battery and I do not store it in a position that keeps the pen active while it's not in use. The specs for pen are as follows:
    HP Pen (Microsoft)
    SPS: 910942-001 (Natural Silver)
    I have looked for troubleshooting help and this article is not helpful. Can someone please help me figure out how to get my pen to start working again (I have only had it for less than two months) so that I do not have to buy a new pen for almost $100.

    I'm using an older HP Compaq nx9420 laptop with Intel T7200 processor and 4 meg ram for testing Skip Ahead releases with Windows Pro 64.
    The  PC won't display the screen after wake from sleep with normal methods [mouse movement, track pad swipe, any key press, troubleshooting power, power options reset to default, etc].  It does wake, but does not display the screen.  If I set it to never sleep and the screen blanks after 10 minutes (the default), it will still not display the screen.
    From Start, everything works normally. 
    Any known key press combinations to enable display?
    Note:  This question was also posted in the Microsoft Community Insider Release forum.  There have not been any solutions offered.

  • 08/23/18--10:53: HP AMD A8 will not charge
  • When I opened my laptop, the screen went white and then it turned off. I assumed the battery had died, but now when I plug in the laptop, the charging light does not come on and the laptop will not charge. I bought a new power cord and this did not help. I’ve removed the battery as well with no luck. This laptop is only 3 years old and very well taken care of.

  • My left button stopped working on my internal mouse.  When I ran the dianostic it showed ID Failure Code Q8E4R9-88H979-XD7X7F-G1UE03.  Is this a hardware failure or software glitch?

    I've been looking into this for half of the day so I have a pretty solid feel for what's going on but I figured I'd post regardless to see if there's any more info I could get.

    The notebook I'm using is a Pavilion 11-n010dx x360. The problem has been escalating over the past month I believe. What happens is sometimes if the screen is bumped, tilted, or moved a certain way it'll just turn into horizontal white and black lines. It's escalated to the point we're sometimes it just goes black. The notebook is about 4 years old and has been through some average wear and use.

    From what I've gathered, the problem is most likely a faulty LCD Flex Cable. I'm not 100% sure on that, but from what I've read it sounds the most accurate while comparing issues.

    If anyone has any different ideas on the cause please let me know. Also, if this is actually the cause of the issues, where can I purchase a replacement cable?

    I purchased my HP Notebook a little over a year ago from Costco Wholesale, and there were no issues out of the box. After about a month, I took the computer on two short round-trip flights (in a protective case) and although the computer was handled very carefully, the issue was noticed when I got back home. Essentially, a blue streak appeared in the top right corner of the screen with no explanation. I tried several "removing stuck pixel fix" programs over the area and on the entire screen, but nothing worked.


    The line does not seem to be dead pixels, as I can still see text, graphics, and my mouse when I move it over the line. It is blue, but transparent. Additionally, since the line was first noticed, it has moved from the very top right corner of the screen to slightly left of its origin. Now, less than a year later, it has made its way down to the bottom right of the screen, almost as if it "fell" down. This was again after a short-distance flight, in the same case and still being handled very delicately. 


    If anyone knows what in the world this line could be, or what caused it, I would greatly appreciate it.

  • I have an HP Elitebook x360  (4 months old) and have been using the HP active pen (which came with it) for 4 months.

    It suddenly stopped working. I have changed the battery and the nib though this hasn't changed the situation.

    The pc says it is connected/paired with the pen. However, the pen does not work - it cannot write on the sketchpad, it cannot select anything on the screen or scroll etc.

    Please help as I use this pen all the time.

    Love the vibrancy of this Spectre 15.6 (2018) screen but admittely the constant reflection by the digitizer can be a bit annoying. 


    I would like to reduce the reflection by adding an anti-glare layer which in turn will add a slight roughness to the screen. 


    Do you know any professional grade quality produc that will do the job?

    After reformat of my OS the screen display or resolution is not good quality. It is set on generic pnp monitor on standard VGA graphics Adapter with only 2 resolution option 1024 x 768 high and 800 x 600 low. 


    How can I have a better graphics?

    2 usb hub is not functioning i need a driver installer where can i find the driver?

    Updating display drivers didn't help. Brightness can be adjusted in display settings. Other FN-buttons such as volume works.
