While typing with the laptop keyboard, the cursor will randomly jump to the location of the mouse pointer.
The issue DOES NOT happen when using an external keyboard, the issue ONLY happens when using the laptop keyboard.
I have tested with an external mouse and the issue persists.
I have tested by disabling the touchpad when connecting an external mouse and the issue persists.
To confirm my suspicion that the cursor jumps to wherever the mouse pointer is, I performed the following test:
1) Unplug external keyboard, use laptop keyboard only
2) Test 1 (Use external mouse), Test 2 (Use internal mouse - external removed)
3) Opened document - Tested on (google doc, word doc, web site)
4) Selected start location for typing using the mouse.
5) Begin typing "Hello World .."
6) Move mouse pointer to specific location on screen that may be a text box. Do NOT select location with mouse, just move the pointer.
7) Continue typing in original location "Hello World, blah blah..."
8) At some random point, your cursor location (focus) will jump to the location of the mouse pointer and your text would have continued into that location.
This test was repeated multiple times using: different editors, different mouse, different mouse drivers, disabling of touchpad. All had the same end result of the cursor jumping to the mouse pointer location.
If the mouse pointer was not at a text box location, the typing would not be accepted. It is as though the "focus" or selected control has changed.
Once again, this ONLY happens when using the laptop keyboard, it does not happen when typing on an external keyboard.
NOTE: If an external keyboard is plugged in, the issue still happens if you are typing on the laptop keyboard.
