"Display connection might be limited"

$

I recently purchased this laptop; HP Pavillion x360 Convertible 14m-ba1xx.  I am trying to connect an external display (HP Elite Display E231i) which I also use with my work HP laptop without issue.  I have tried two ways; first using a Targus USB-C Display adapter to connect the monitors VGA cable,  the second using HDMI.  I get the same error in both cases; "Display connection might be limited".  The canned support solutions are not helpful.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks.

My hp 24er display won't turn on.

My display doesn't turn on. The led in the back is on, so it is receiving current. However the led in the front is off and the screen black. At the beginning the settings wouldn't stop poping up so I pressed the On/Off button for 10 seconds and since then the monitor doesn't work.

computer cursor jumps to mouse pointer location

While typing with the laptop keyboard, the cursor will randomly jump to the location of the mouse pointer.

The issue DOES NOT happen when using an external keyboard, the issue ONLY happens when using the laptop keyboard.

I have tested with an external mouse and the issue persists.

I have tested by disabling the touchpad when connecting an external mouse and the issue persists.

To confirm my suspicion that the cursor jumps to wherever the mouse pointer is, I performed the following test:

1) Unplug external keyboard, use laptop keyboard only

2) Test 1 (Use external mouse), Test 2 (Use internal mouse - external removed)

3) Opened document - Tested on (google doc, word doc, web site)

4) Selected start location for typing using the mouse.

5) Begin typing "Hello World .."

6) Move mouse pointer to specific location on screen that may be a text box. Do NOT select location with mouse, just move the pointer.

7) Continue typing in original location "Hello World, blah blah..."

8) At some random point, your cursor location (focus) will jump to the location of the mouse pointer and your text would have continued into that location.

This test was repeated multiple times using: different editors, different mouse, different mouse drivers, disabling of touchpad.  All had the same end result of the cursor jumping to the mouse pointer location.

If the mouse pointer was not at a text box location, the typing would not be accepted.  It is as though the "focus" or selected control has changed.

Once again, this ONLY happens when using the laptop keyboard, it does not happen when typing on an external keyboard.

NOTE: If an external keyboard is plugged in, the issue still happens if you are typing on the laptop keyboard.

Elitebook 850 G1 Displayport does not work

Hello -

I have an older Elitebook 850 G1 that I need to run with an external monitor. No external monitor connections will work:

  1. Not the onboard DisplayPort
  2. When docked in the 2013 UltraSlim Dockingstation, not the
    1. VGA port
    2. DisplayPort 1
    3. DisplayPort 2

I've seen posts here where the docking station needs a firmware update, but even that update seems to rely on some ability to have an external monitor

I've also used the HP update process, and the graphics drivers are at the latest revision.

I've purchased the Plugable USB 3.0 to VGA adapter, and the install for this product fails because the "Onboard Graphics do not support an external monitor". Further research there suggests that bare-bones Intel Graphics processors are not supported, but I guess I would be surprised if this HP Elitebook had a bare-boned graphics processor.

Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Hello guys,
I set up a workstation with Windows 10 x32 and I keep trying from more than a week to install a video driver but I don't find a compatible one..
I tried on HP support web site and I didn't find any drivers for OS Windows 10 32 bit. I installed HP Softpaq Manager and can't find me any driver.
In this moment on the station is installed "Microsoft basic diplay adapter" but I can't set up more than one monitor which is not ok.

I just not belive that HP doesn't have support for Windows 10 32 bit..

Do you have any idee how to fix it?

Thanks a lot,
Raul

The video on my notebook has been messed up for a while, using Chrome I can watch videos on Netflix and Youtube with no problem but on other sites, the video is often discolored, with a gray tint to it. On other browsers and the Hulu and Netflix apps it is zoomed in very far and is also discolored. If anyone has an answer, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.

I talked with AMD support and they said that in DxDiag I have the 43 error but the Windows' forum isn't help.

When I installed the HP graphic drivers, in the past, I can see 2 AMD options in the deskotp when I press right button on my mouse but today I see only one.

Any update on this ? I'm having the issue and it is very frustrating. All of the proper settings are checked and everything is up to date. If I have an active window in front of chrome, I can't scroll on chrome either.

My hp stream laptop turns on; the power button lights up. But the screen remains black.

Does HP Pavilion 15-bc302nm have an IPS screen?

$

I've just ordered HP Pavilion 15-bc302nm. Turns out when I was taking over the boxed laptop that it says on the box that display is just FHD LED, there is no mention of IPS which was stated on the dealers website and which is why I choose this particular model. Even on HP website specs say it is SVA not IPS display and nowhere can I find a version with IPS display, except on dealers website.

Is there anyway someone from HP can give me an exact information if this is IPS screen or not, I mean is there even such screen on this model, and if it is how can I be sure of that. How can I check it, because I am not at all trusting the dealer at this point.

Thank you!

What exact screen models in Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15?

$

I am interested in the new Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15 with 1060 Max-Q graphics, but I am very picky about the display quality. In the configurator I have three options for the display:

1)15.6" diagonal FHD IPS anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)

2) 15.6" diagonal FHD 144 Hz IPS anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)
3) 15.6" diagonal 4K IPS anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit (3840 x 2160)

I don't care for 144Hz or 4k, I just want good uniformity, contrast, close to 100% sRGB. Can you tell me what are exact models of the panels? Are they from AOC or LG?

recently i had my laptops screen bent by a football. as my laptop is insured i took it to the tech shop i bought it from and they said that they would let the insurance company know and that they would then come and get my laptop and take it to a HP factory in spain (i live in Portugal). after receiving my laptop back i have noticed that they have messed it up. the entire screen frame is coming off and the glue is failing, they also forgot to put a piece of the hinge back. my laptop is now falling to pieces. What can i do?
