I want to connect my laptop(envy 13 ad000) to an external monitor, using usb-c.
I bought an adapter from usb-c to hdmi but the tv, and the external monitor, don't show anything.
I tried different adapters but the result remain the same.
On the product page is explicity shown that I can connect two monitors to my pc.
Any suggest to solve the issue?

I want to use a Mixed Reality headset but my graphics driver (HP June 2017) is not compatible. There is an Intel update for the 520 dated 28th December but it won't finish the install as it says it has not been validated for this computer and demands HP's own driver. There doesn't seem to be any newer HP driver to enable Mixed Reality.
How can I force the Intel driver to install (and should I do that?)
Any advice welcomed.

I cannot get any pen to work with my machine. I have reset to factory with recovery media created on this machine. HP BIOS update and up to date drivers installed and tried 1 at a time without change in behavior. every pen I have works on other ,in store exact LOOKING machines. How do I check digitizer function??
I have a new Dell XPS 13 Convertible laptop that is running Linux Fedora. I currently have it hooked up to an HP LP3065 monitor through an HDMI cable that is attached to a Tripp-Lite adapter because the laptop does not have any standard USB or HDMI ports. The adapter is attached to an USB 3.0 port.
The laptop sees the monitor, but the monitor screen is blank. The power light on the monitor is glowing amber. When I go into the computer settings, the HP monitor shows up as being connected and running. In addition, I can blindly move the mouse to the other monitor and drag windows from the HP onto the laptop screen.
I previously had this monitor hooked up to an old SonyVAIO running Fedora and it worked fine. The VIAO had a built-in HDMI port.
The laptop definitely sees the monitor and thinks that the monitor is working. Can anyone help me? Thank you.
So i have had this laptop for months now looking for a solution. My gpu = NVIDIA 940MX. The fps drops happen on all games and the higher the settings are the less the drops will happen, but if i have the settings too high not only will i still have fps drops but i'll have low fps. I have changed settings in NVIDIA control panel more times than i can count, i even switched to Integrated graphics (Intel(R) 620 HD graphics) and even that has problems. The intel card has half a second freezes every now and then, especially when i'm in combat on my game. I have updated drivers, i have done BIOS update i have changed windows settings to performance, i have turned off game DVR and i have read through nearly every forum i could find that i searched. Another ting to know, when the fps drops happen my cpu and gpu percentage also drops with it, and i'm certain that it is not an overheating problem because from what i've felt it does not get any hotter 50-60c. I just bought the same laptop brand new at Best Buy and it has the exact same issue. Very poor quality display considering that my Toshiba Satellite from a decade ago still has a perfectly black screen whereas this HP piece of junk has tons of bleed around the edges. Really disgusted with this and plan on taking it back first thing in the morning.
How do I get access to the Device Manager when the initial swiping of the screen when I turn it on will not work?
In the past, (using a desktop) I had a hard drive for the programs and OS and a separate hard drive for all of the raw video, scratch and cache files. Now I have a ZBook 15 Mobile laptop. I am about to replace the 250GB hard drive with a 2TB hard drive, do I need to partition it to create the same concept of separating the programs and Operating System from the videos and graphics that will be used for video projects, or can all of it be on the same, unpartitioned drive these days.

Recently my internal screen stopped working. What I am now trying to do is getting an external display (connected over HDMI port) to show post message, bios, etc.
I have disassembled the laptop and unplugged the screen, some reported this would be enough to force display output to a secondary monitor, however that is not the case for me. I have also booted with the lid closed, as this is supposedly working for a number of people on different systems, sadly I am not one of them. The secondary monitor works just fine once my OS is loaded.
On many systems there is a BIOS setting that has to be made in order to use a secondary monitor as the default one, displaying BIOS and other pre-OS things. What I now need is either someone with the same model as mine who is willing to guide me through the BIOS, a set of screenshots of the BIOS for me to do it on my own, or maybe a hot key to force the output to the secondary monitor.
Any input is greatly appreciated.

this is the second time that a replaced Notebook screen does not switch on, and I have to attach the Notebook to an External Screen: and all functions work fine except the "internal screen".
The notebook screen has been replaced twice already! This is becoming an annoying "event".
How this happens:
- Notebook gets"shutdown"
- Packed in its carry pouch
- Travel
- Opened and restarted --> No screen! ---> No work out of office.
The Notebook is handled with care and no real schocks just closed and opened.
As stated this is the third time now!
Definitively there is a problem !
- Is machanical i.e. cliosing and opening functionality some "wiring" breaks?
or
- Is it a connector that loosens (this happened to me on another HP Notebook and it was a grafic card conection that would loosen because of the heat (in summer), in this case one the "hacked solution" was to place a pad beween the body and the connector so the connector would not jump out.
or
- is it a software issue -- BIOS -- versus screen installed
This is becoming very annyoing and also costly.

Yes I have pressed [fn] f4 and chose "Duplicate" .theefore I can see what I am writing!
Of course the [fn] f4 works as "Extended" and as "projector only"
BUT not "disconnect projector" obviously!
Thank you for explaining what can be going wrong on a "machine" and "sceen" which otherwise has/have been very relaible for many years!

i have HP 350 G1 Laptop, after Switching on my PC the touchpad works fine, but when i decide to close the lid ( which i set it to do nothing) and open it again the touch pad doesn't work, nothing works even the left and right buttons, until i restart the PC again.
I don't know how to figure it out, i am using windows 10.

Below is an example of the fuzziness of Win 10 compatible software when opened on my new 4k laptop.
In addition, Quicken layout is so messed up, I had to go to the properties of the qw.exec file and check a box to overide the high DPI resolution. It fixed most of the issues but still have viewing problems.
What Quicken support told me was that I would have to change the laptop video resolution to 1920x1080 for the software to work properly. Unfortunately, you can't just change an exec file for a specific resolution.
Any help for those that have figured this out would be greatly appreciated.
I need to connect my laptop to two external monitor (in addition to laptop monitor). The laptop hdmi port connects fine to my first monitor's hdmi port but I can't get the USB Type-C 3.1 Gen1 (the stated version) to connect to the other monitor. I've tried three different usb type to hdmi adaptors.
According to the user guide this is possible (see below). Please can you assist?

After a running an update to Windows 7 32-bit in November of 2017, my notebook display does not fill the entire screen anymore. Windows recognizes that the screen is capable of 800 x 600, but the software only allows resolution up to 600 X 480. The right 20% of the display is blank, and the top part of the display is shown again at the bottom of the screen. Help. Thanks.
Setting up new laptop. Was able to pair HP active pen with computer. Also when press the top button, it opens up the drawing app. However, it has no response when using it on the touchscreen. (Finger works fine on touch screen. It responds appropriately to touch). Problem occurs in tablet or laptop mode. This is the pen that was shipped in the box with the computer. New battery was put in pen. Computer was purchased Sep 2017. I do not see new drivers availble for input devices on HP website. Thanks for any thoughts.
I am using Google Earth pro on a 32 inch monitor and display settings are critical in order to see terrain contours.
My Zbook changes the gamma and RGB settings by itself every time the computer starts up or wakes up, resulting in a washed out display so bad that I cannot see the contours. I can rectify this by using the color calibrate command, which requires a small reduction in gamma setting and resetting the RGB sliders from 100% to about 30% but its a pain in the neck to do this ten or more times a day.
Is there a fix for this problem which seems to be common?
