I have seen tons of examples on HP forums and elsewhere on the Internet of HP's 360 (2-in-1) laptop screens cracking for no reason other than the stress of its advertised use. What is being done about these besides HP telling people to spend more money on the product they already bought, and is under warranty, by them repairing it?
The crack developed by the right side hinge. It started out with the cursor on the touchscreen just jumping into the corner.. then 2 days later after fighting it and disabling the touchscreen, a small crack appeared where the cursor was jumping to over the last several uses.
I have chatted with someone at HP on their browser chat that told me :
"As it is "accidental" (my quotes) damage it is not covered under the normal warranty"
I responded by saying that normal use of the laptop wasn't "accidental"
I was then told that I could send them my laptop where they would contact me back in several weeks to give me a quote. If I rejected the quote they would bill me $100+ dollars..
I then spoke with a phone representative that sounded like a broken record telling me about "customer incurred" damage.
Again I explained that regular usage over a 3 month period of a new product is not the customer damaging the product unless they manufactured a faulty product.
As I'm responsible for making decisions at my job on server and computer hardware, it is going to be hard for me to deal with HP in the future, now seeing how they treat their consumer customers.
If anyone can assist me with this on here, and not give me another person that will repeat the same thing to me, I would welcome the conversation.
Thanks,
Aaron
