Product number: F9J18UA#ABA

At first the touchscreen responded to touch.

I updated Windows yesterday morning.

The touchscreen did not respond to touch.

I ran HP Support Assistant/HP Updates.

The touchscreen responded to touch.

Last night there were additional Windows updates.

The touchscreen did not respond to touch.

I ran HP Support Assistant/HP Updates.

There were no updates available.

The touchscreen still does not respond to touch.

Device Manager/Human Interface Devices does not list a touch device.

What do I need to do to get my touchscreen running again?

Touchscreen on my Notebook N5Y90UA stopped working

A couple of days ago my Touchscreen stopped working. I went online to find solutions from the HP support site, but am unable to make progress. Perhaps I can get help here.

I checked the Device Manager Human Interface section. There are only two devices listed. None have to do with the Touch Screen.

Earlier I downloaded the Synaptics Touch Pad Driver (sp72088). This also did not resolve the isssue.

I did a System Restore to an earlier time (01/10/2017). That also did not resolve the issue.

Then I found the UEFI Hardware Diagnostic Test and did the specific Touchscreen  test. Oddly the Touchscreen worked through the test. I removed all the squares by touching them.

So, what else can I do to get this function back?

Thank you,

ink blots on screen

My laptop has what looks like ink blots on the screen, or like something is leaking and I'm just wondering if something like this is fixable or if Im better off buying a new laptop altogether? I am no longer covered under HP warranty, and the cause for this issue may or may not be cause I picked up my laptop and my fingers caused pressure points on the screen. Normally I'm very careful with my stuff, but I'm just looking for advice on what to do, thanks!

I've also attached a screen shot of the issue.

Webpages crashing when videos played

I bought my HP Pavilion laptop on Boxing Day, so it's still under warranty should I need to return it.

The device can cope with regular browsing (via Microsoft Edge) but malfunctions when it encounters videos. Usually the page will stop responding once I press play, and even when it recovers the sound output will mysteriously decrease over time until I can barely hear it (volume displays unchanged).

Google suggests there's an issue with Flash, but I paid to have the laptop set up so it seems unlikely that it wouldn't be properly installed.

Can this be resolved at home, or should I cart it back to the store to be looked at/replaced?

Dual monitors with Elitbook WA994AV Docking Station

Morning All,

I've got an Elitebook 2740 which I use mostly on a WA994AV docking station.

My primary monitor is the 12" screen on the laptop and I have a second monitor connected to the docking station which is monitor 2.

What I'd like to know (before I purchase a second screen), is if I can buy a VGA splitter, connect that to my docking station and run two external monitors from the docking station.

I find the 12" screen fine when travelling, but when working from home and need to use two screens I constatnly find myself dragging items onto the external monitor to work on due to it's larger size.

If the docking station will support two external monitors (or even 3 with the laptop lid openned) it would make my life a lot easier.

If anyone can tell me if this is posible it'd be great thanks.

ALso, if there's a way top permanently set it so that the external monitor(s) are set to Extend desktop when I start the laptop it would be great. Currently Windows 10 (64 bit) will start with extended desktop, then after about 30-60 seconds it will flip over to duplicating the laptop display onto the external monitor and I have to change the display outputs everytime.

HP 250 G5 - Jumpy mouse / trackpad

Hi all, this isn't a question but an answer to an issue*

Short Story: My touchpad wouldn't move around the screen smoothly, it was jumpy. Cause was an unofficial charger I bought off Ebay. Official charger worked fine.

Long Story: Bought this laptop recently and mousepad seemed to work fine (Apart from clicking (not clicking one of the 2 buttons but tapping anywhere on the mousepad) didn't always work). I began process of uninstalling all the 'crap' that comes preinstalled and also the huge 'Driver' programs that come preinstalled when all you want is the driver.

After I'd finished, I noticed that the mouse started to jump around the screen instead of smoothly gliding across it.

This is for my boss and there was no way he (or even I, who has a lot of patience) would put up with it. Found a post actually on this HP site (Same problem but for a different laptop) and the charger was mentioned. I'd been running the whole time with the Ebay charger (bought an extra charger to keep plugged in at the desk and the other one is for travel) and as soon as I unplugged it, the mousepad was perfect. I unboxed the official charger and tried that and mousepad was still perfect. Plugged in the Ebay one and back to jumpy.

Hope that helps someone

*As I said, I found the solution on another thread and wanted to simply reply to that one but couldn't see how I could add my own reply, maybe the thread was now locked (or more likely I'm too stupid!).

Cannot turn off screen saver.

I cannot switch off the screen saver funtion.  I've selected "none" on the personalization page but the screen saver still activates.  I've changed the time-out to 600 minutes and it still activates within 10-15 min.  I have a program for uploading video that takes time to run and once the screen saver activates the program is stopped.  Since I don't have much use for the screen saver I'd like to turn it off but can't.  thoughts?

Closing HP Stream 11 laptop and screen going black upon reopen. Also touchpad not working.

Two primary issues: 1. When closing computer after use (not powering off, just closing laptop) and then reopening, 15% of the time it is black when I reopen and I have to reboot (subsequently losing any unsaved work and needing to reload browsers. 2. The touchpad doesn't work 75% of the time, I have to use an external mouse.

Has anyone encountered these issues? I bought my HP Stream 11 in August 2015 and supposeduly my warranty expired Dec 2015. Does that seem right? Has anyone found success calling HP and avoiding paying the phone fee?

Problem with Graphics driver

Hi,

My laptop HP Notebook 15-ay503tx with Windows 7 64 bit is having AMD Radeon m430 graphics. However I am not able to find a suitable driver for that. The AMD auto detect facility says my laptop has only standard VGA Graphics adapter, however my Laptop specification mentions about AMD Radeon m430 graphics.

Can somebody help me on this.

Thanks,

Have to reboot laptop when using docking station in order to view screen on 2nd monitor

Hello,

When a user comes in to the office and places her laptop on the docking station, the 2nd monitor she uses turns completely white. The user has to reboot the laptop in order to get rid of the white screen. I have updated the graphics drivers (intel) and the BIOS for the laptop but the issue still persists. I have been searching on forums for awhile now but I can't seem to find any decent solutions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi Everyone, my touchpad on my brand new hp convertible does not work.  I have tried double clicking on the upper left corner, and I have tried to go to control panel, but when I get to the mouse window, there is no tab for the touchpad.  Does this mean there is no driver installed for it?

Touch Screen Stopped Working

My HP Pavillion laptop touch screen stopped working several months ago and I have not been able to fix it. I have gone into the device manager as I have seen on other forums and my touch screen didnt even show up under human interfacing. How can I get my touch screen to work again without having to take it in? I am not super tech savvy. I don't recall doing an update before it stopped working.

internal monitor shutdown dv9000

HP Pavilion dv9400 Entertainment Notebook PC series

I have an older HP laptop (DV9000) that is still useful as a file server and entertainment PC.  It has one problem that I suspect is a bug in the BIOS version.  The internal monitor works perfectly for about 60-120 minutes after power up.  No matter what I do however, even if I enter the BIOS, the monitor shuts off (completely black) after these short two minutes, and nothing I do seems to restore power to it (including pressing function F4).

I have worked around the problem by powering off and connecting an external display, and opening the lid just long enough to press the power button to turn it back on.  I am using the computer now to write this message, so everything else is perfect.

It would be nice to have use of the internal screen again, however.

I have flashed the most recent BIOS to the system and it hasn't fixed the problem.  The problem may in fact be traced back to an earlier BIOS upgrade, but I'm not 100% sure.  Can I get access to the original BIOS (circa 2007?) to see if this problem goes away if I revert the BIOS upgrades?

Or maybe someone can suggest another solution?
