Hello,

 

I've had this problem with my laptop display for about half a year.

 

When the laptop starts, the backlight turns on, but there is no display of Windows. When connected to an external monitor or projector, this displays the image with no problem. Thus, my question is: if my GPU and backlight are working, what component is causing the problem and how can I fix it?

 

It is worth mentoning that sometimes on start up the display came back to life, and then if no shutdown or battery depletion occured, it would function normally. However, if the battery ran out, the problem came back (since I very often just put the laptop on sleep, this system functioned for a while...) Then, a couple of weeks ago this happened again, and the display hasn't worked since. I am now working with an external monitor.

So my Netflix app on my laptop hasn't been working since it last updated in April. When I click on the app it will open for a second and then close right away. I don't have any connection problems, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling. The App Store says there is something that needs to be fixed on the app, and it has been trying to fix it for 20 minutes now. Please help.

I purchased this computer 4/2015 - have had this issue from the beginning.  I took it to Geek Squad @ Best Buy where I purchased it, and was told that it was a common problem  because of the layout of the mouse pad and the narrow area for navigation.. that the windows 10 upgrade should fix it, and to use an external mouse in the meantime.  Well, the windows upgrade did not fix it, and I have issues whether I'm using the external mouse or trying to use the mouse pad. 

 

First I start getting the right click menu over and over again... then, the mouse gets jittery and wont go where I direct it.. then it starts closing and opening programs, activating things, and eventually I just have to shut the computer down... reboot... I'm unable to save excel or word docs that are in process because I cannot get the mouse to do what I need it to do!   If I reboot, then it usually operates like it's supposed to for awhile, but it always happens again eventuall...

 

I just hung up with HP support - sadly I was not able to understand the tech, there was too much static on the line, and it felt like a sales negotiation when I didn't want to pay $99 to have it fixed.. I ended up hanging up - he kept offering better prices.. and it just felt sketchy - and I couldnt hear or understand him.    I've googled this mousepad problem and see that it's not uncommon - can I fix this on my own?  This laptop is great other than this extremely huge issue...

I am turning to you all, as I have been unable to get an answer from HP sales, HP tech and HP engineers refuse to give me an answer. Before possibly purchasing said laptop, I simply want to know how many nits brightness and what is the contrast ratio for the latest spec x360 15-ap007na 4k laptop. If no one out there knows, then maybe someone who i should get in touch with......thanks

the brightness controller or the brightness level display is  working but no effect on the brightness of screen it stays full.

it occured after demoting to win 8.1 from win 10. tried installing drivers but no effect

Bought this laptop 4 weeks ago and thought by paying out for a better "quality" one that it would go the distance. Used it on Saturday evening, closed the lid and left on my desk. Came down in the morning and when I opened it the screen had cracks in it - no force had been used and nothing had dropped on it - everyone else was in bed apart from me. From looking on the reviews here and speaking to my IT delaer, there is an obvious design flaw with the screen that needs some investigation from HP - there are literally hundreds of customers that have had this same problem - can someone help on this please - I am very unhappy after paying out £900 on this to break after only a month !!!!

Hi! I have a problem with some (but not all) text boxes (aka tooltips, I think) in Windows 7, the ones that pop-up when you hover over some elements like caption buttons in windows or the start orb in the taskbar. The fonts in text within are chopped or replaced by a thick black bar. The same happens with some (but, again, not all) of the text boxes belonging to icons' descriptions in different programs (e.g. Total Commander v8.52a, paint.net v4.0.10) and in drop down menus for font size in MS Word, Libreoffice Writer, etc. I added a screenshot at the bottom.

This problems started right after updating to 13.9 AMD Legacy driver (year: 2013) available here.

All is back to normal if I revert to the driver provided by HP, but it is an old one (available here), and, for example, some games and programs and functionalities that rely on newer OpenGL won't work.

Is there any way to update without the aforementioned problems? Any insights will be welcomed!

As stated in the question. And when I first started the computer touch screen was working fine. Then I shut it off, it received some updates and boom! Touch screen no longer works

My f310 cam corder worked for about three weeks, then started giving "storage i/o error" messages and switching to playback mode.  I formatted the card, using the device, twice.  I reset to factory settings.  I checked the SD card using my PC and it's perfect.  The only action which gives me any results is to remove then reinsert the SD card, after which the camera will record for no more than ten minutes, give me the error message and switch to playback mode.  Any ideas?

Hello i just want to know if i could in any way install a graphics card in my mini tower or my hp(260-a010) desktop cause i cant find any ports in the computer that could be able to connect to a gpu. Also i just got in to gaming, my friends told me this model was a good pc to start off with light gaming and i what to push in to another games but the stock gpu is holding me back plz i need anyones help.

Using a new HP stream 11 at school to connect to interactive whiteboard. I have purchased a new HDMI / VGA adaptor and it connects well. Using the function keys I get a display on both screens.....then the smartboard starts flashing. While still connected to the whiteboard I am unable to properly type anything while it is flashing on the screen.....

 

Am a desperate teacher who really wants to get this working....whole reason I bought thge machine in the first place......much appreciated!!

Recently Brought new Hp 15-ac-150tx laptop with dos and i install windows 10  and i installed "far cry 3"but everytime i try to launch this game, the system says something like "could not find suitable graphics settings"  and crashes.  I downloaded the graphics driver from the hp website but still no progress what will i do now please help me

I'd like to make this PC output at 1080p resolution, particularly because I want to watch video content in that quality like iTunes downloads or streamed YouTube content. But when I do try outputting higher than 1080i (1920x1080 resolution at 30Hz) the screen has noticeable green glitching and sometimes cuts out and in again on my TV display. I also put the HDMI cable through a sound device to convert it into optical audio to go into a sound system before connecting to the TV, but with 1080p I notice the sound only goes to the TV and not the sound system (it usually goes to both anyway but I simply turn down the volume of the TV to zero). Another thing is that the 1080p image tends to cut out less when the text size in the same display options is at its smallest, rather than the 150% or so size I normally use.

 

I also have a Wacom Cintiq 13HD I connect the Notebook to that may display outputted 1080p from the laptop, without having to also output the sound of course which stays coming out of the laptop itself. Is there some kind of way I could make the Notebook output 1080p to my TV without getting a new computer, even if it means finding a different ouput to the sound that the same HDMI cable?

I have a HP stream 7 which as windows 8. Whenever I go to the desktop, the screen seems to be zoomed in so you can parts of it. So when I go to change the resolution, it's says ' your resolution is below 2901×3868 some items may not fit on the screen'
What can I do to fix this, this is first time I have seen it
