Hi Forum,

 

All of sudden, the touchscreen stopped wokring on my laptop. I have browsed trough a number of posts on this problem, and  tried/found/noted/checked:

- restart laptop (no improvement)

- ran Windows Update (no improvement)

- ran HP Update (no improvement)

- check touchscreen settings: item not found in control panel

- checked PC information: "Pen- of aanraakscherm is niet beschikbaar voor dit beeldscherm" (in English roughly: Pen- or touchscreen is not available for this screen"

- checked device manager: There used to be a 'yellow esclamation mark' driver in both the HID section (disappeared when I tried to reinstall it) as well as in the USB section "Unknown USB device" which is still there

- shortly after bootup, there is a message in the system tray "USB device not recognized / the last USB device connected to this PC has caused an error, Windows does not recognize the device anymore" (translation form the original Dutch text)

- updating the video driver (no improvement)

- install and run "Intel Driver Update Utility" (no improvement

- running build in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI: doer not show the touchscreen option in the Component Test menu

 

My feeling is that this is a hardware failure, specifically becasue the HP diagnostics does not show the 'touchscreen' option anymore.

 

Any advice or help would be highly appreciated

I am using an external screen. But I can not change the screen to landscape for this screen. In the screen resolution configuration, there is no orientation option. Hot key does not work either.

 

I guess the reason is because of the system and driver.  (because I remember that I have orientation option when I bought the laptop, it was win7)

 

Currently, I am using win8.1 64 bit.

I am using the up-to-date driver from hp.com website for my graphic cards.  

 

I also tried to change the regedit 

 

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000

 

there are two Display1_RotationCaps and Display2_RotationCaps.  I 've tried to change the value from 0 to 1 or 7. Neither of them works. 

 

Could anyone help me to solve this problem?

Hi,

 

I have a Chromebook 11-2110nr that is still under warranty.  Somehow the screen has cracked.  Is this something I can get repaired via the warranty?  If not, can someone recommend where I can get a replacement screen?

My onboard monitor no longer works.  I have two external monitors hooked up through a docking station that represents 95% of the use but recently removed the laptop from the docking station and found that the onboard monitor isn't working.  I doubt that the monitor burned up since it is hardly used.  I suspect that it is software related but have no way of knowing for sure.  Has anyone lese had this issue and if so, how do I rectify it?  I will be traveling soon and need my laptop.  Help!!!

Intermitantly I get crazy color squares and paterns across my screen when viewing videos and a popup window will say that the Intel processor has stoped working or has recovered.

I have an Intel HD graphics 520 and am on windows 10. My processor is an i7 with 8g of ram so there is plenty of speed there

I have updated all the drivers I can and have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. It is very frustrating cause it is intermitant and there is no predicting when or how so where do you begin to find a solution?

I downloaded a movie which plays just fine, but when I go to vimeo or other sites the issue starts. I also reloaded flash player as someone said that may be the problem.

Please i realy need an urgent help, i got an Hp Envy 17 touch smart not 1 month ago, the touch creen has stopped working and i have done everything possible to make it work agian, but all proved abortive.. i have used Hp Support service, i have also downloaded the graphics drivers, yet it still not working.. 

 

NB, This issue started after i did bios update to F.65.

 

Please i really need urgent help to fix this. your suggestion will surely be appreciated

My dv6 has suddenly started to display an ultra dim screen on startup. I have tried multiple hard restarts and the screen goes to full brightness for about a second as the hp logo appears, then cuts to ultra dim. The same flicker of brightness also occurs from putting it in sleep mode. The screen is far too dark to be functional but does show faint outlines of open windows. My second monitor works fine through the hdmi port but all windows open in the dark screen so my laptop is still useless. Like I said I have tried hard restarts as well as unplugging the memory and hard drive as suggested in one forum

We just bought this computer for my daught for college 2 months ago and the screen is cracked.  She took it to the Geek Squad and they send they would need to send it somewhere and it would take 2-3 weeks to fix.  Can we purchase a new screen for this?  How much will it cost?  Can we do it ourselves?  If not, where can we take it that will not take so long?

Hi there! So I bought this Laptop a few days ago and everything is going fine so far. If i left it alone, the screen would go black and when i would touch it it'd go back, so I wanted to add my own PIN so my laptop wasn't so accesible. But now I have a Pin but it locks out too fast. I went to the settings and I saw that it was programmed to turn off after a minute so I changed it to 5 minutes on both battery and when it's charging. Again, in less than 2 minutes I left it and the screen went black again. It's really starting to bug me because i wanted to put my Pin in every 30 minutes or so when I don't use it, NOT every second it takes for the screen to turn off. I already went through every single setting, including the advanced power setting and nothing changes. It is probably a quick fix and I can't find it, so I'd appreciate it if someone knows how to fix this. Thanks!

My laptop takes a very long time for the screen to display. I have to on and off it about 20 times. when it hibernates, unless I off and on it again. There are times it doesn't on again at all. I have sent it to IT technicians but to no avail

Update: Screen Timeout Settings does not work as it's already set to 10 minutes each.

Upgraded to Windows 10 Pro and HP 2211x Monitor that worked with Windows 8.1 is now not able to connect.  Laptop is Lenovo X1 Carbon.  Checked for HP Driver and not showing.  Is there a work around or do I need to buy a new monitor.  Could not find where or when the driver would be updated.  Thanks in advance for the help.

Firstly, I install windows 10, and everything work well, but after I reset this windows. I got some problem such as the key f2 & f3 use a adjusting the brigtness not work, and the display adapter does not work too, it got default screen default of window 10, it not interesting. have any idea for (f2&f3) brigtness key and driver for display adapter. I am so sick about this problem. thank in advance,

after updating my laptop from windows 8.1 to windows 10 I have the following problem.  When I put the laptom on the A-C adapter the screen of the laptop is getting black. When I pull out the adapter the screen will be normal en is working without any problem.  I read on the website of Microsoft to try solving the problem with deleting the screenadapter and to reinstall it.  But this is not helping.
I noticed that under Windows 8.1 I had the driver "intel hd graphics 10.18.10.3958" after updating to windows 10 I see that I have the driver 10.18.10.4276 and when I return to the previous driver I see de installed driver 10.18.10.4252

Is there anybody who perhaps can help me solving the problem. Do have HP a new correct driver for this problem in windows 10 ?

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 3169-wm entertainment laptop. It's several years old. I upgraded to Windows 10 shortly before my problem began. After upgrading everything was incredibly slow and often the computer just froze. A few days later it started working a little better after an update. I didn't use it much after that and after a move decided to use it again. Plugged it in, turned it on and after it began to boot walked away only to return to a black screen. Since then nothing I've tried has been of any use. The computer turns on, the screen stays completely dark, the power light is on, the battery light flashes (the battery has been completely dead for sometime it has to be plugged in to work), no lights on the hdd at all, no sounds other than the fan running. The caps lock blinks once a few seconds after pressing the power button but then stays dark. I've tried every solution I could find from removing the battery to every combo of keys to an external monitor and nothing. I'm not very technical so I apologize if this is all non helpful information but I am quite desperate as I can not afford a replacement right now as we are recovering from the move and count on this computer for homeschooling my children. Any ideas what could be wrong? It's been a month or so now and I've read countless forums and no luck thus far.

I just bought a new HP Pavilion Notebook and I have connected it to a Dell Monitor via an HDMI cable.   I want to use the Dell Monitor display and close the HP Notebook while using the larger Dell Display.   When I close the HP Notebook, it turns off the Dell Monitor display.   How to I not have both displays running at the same time and be able to not have the HP Notebook open?
