I'm using a HP Pavillon dv6, running windows 7 Home preimum 64x. Recently I've formatted my HP laptops for some reasons. Before my laptop was formatted, I used to turn off my screen using F7 so it can run programs without displaying it, then turn it back on using F8. But after I formatted my HP laptops, I can only use the F7 to dim the display, not to fully turn it off. Any solutions?

recntly i chnged by os to win 8 64bit.so i lost my graphics card driver.now i got windows driver which is not working properly. i tried to download driver from amd.com . i downloaded corect driver but it is showing tat got some compatibility issues
.so i cant instal it. am using hp pavilion dv6-6119tx and my card is AMD Radeon HD 7400m Series.

My computer turns on (LED lights are on & fans going) however the screen is still dark, if you hold it up to the light you can just about make out the HP sign, I have tried taking out the battery & AC adaptor & held the power button for a minute and then reconnected but it has made no change. Please can anyone help? Thanks

I have a Presario CQ57-489WM Compaq laptop. For two days, whenever I turn it on, the screen goes black and it says "Disk read error occurred. Press ctrl alt del to restart". I pressed F2 and it brought me to a HP Advanced System Diagnostics page.
The options show: System information, Start-up test, Run-in test, System Tune-up, Hard Disk Test, Memory test, Battery test, BIOS managment test, Error log, Language and Exit.
I ran a Start-up test and it said that it failed the Short DST. (whatever that is)
I'm a high schooler and I have a LOT of writing assignments on there! HELP!
I have Envy 6 Sleekbook 1126ea
with AMD A6 processor and 7500G GPU.
I recently had a "recovery to factory state" task to revert my pc back to original OEM state.
All of the drivers and programs seem to been re-installed. No problems so far.
Its just that I could swear that I remembered me model coming with a WiDi option somewhere. :smileyindifferent:
Can someone who owns Envy 6 Sleekbook AMD A6 tell me if this model even came with WiDi??

Because I vividly remember seeing that option somewhere.
(I had the latest AMD "stock" driver installed) for some time til it started to make problems (hence my recovery process)
I cant remember if my model came with WiDi option (as stock driver) or it was introduced when I updated to the new STOCK driver???
HP Pavilion dv 2000. Blank screen, fan & hard drive running. All LED indicator lights on. Was getting very hot before this blank screen crash.
When my computer starts up, the screen is red, and anything that is supposed to be black is a blood red, including the black backgroud on my actual DESKTOP.
Anything that is supposed to be white is like a cyan color.
Anyone know what is wrong?
I have never dropped it, bumped it, or spilled anything on it!

I am not a massive computer whizz but I am having issues updating my AMD Radeon drivers (5470)... Downloading drivers off the AMD website is all very well but it seems my HP Pavilion dv6-3112sa laptop does not support them... So I instead checked out the HP website for current drivers, but I can only download the 2010 driver version 8. AMD is now at version 13, why can't I install any of these later drivers?? I find it unacceptable that HP do not allow this. Is there a workaround?

I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6050ea, and I've connected it to my Samsung UE32D6100 HD TV. Unfortunately, the colour looks awful, and I've tried my best to adjust it. I have tried playing with th settings of the TV, but I can't get it to where display well. I tried using the 'calibrate color' option in the display settings of Windows settings, and I found a configuration that works, though it's not perfect. The problem is, every time the screen saver comes on, the settings revert to default.
Any ideas?

when i open catalyst control center the switchable graphics it doest show applications even if i pressed "browse" it will just click on the programe and shows nothing and the apply buttons shines and can be pressed.

I have a HP Pavilion G6. Before, when I unplugged my laptop, a pop-up appeared saying I could lose data if I switched, and I had to click accept to perform the switch. A couple of days ago, something happened (was there a "don't ask me this any more" checkbox I accidentally ticked?), and now the switch happens automatically as soon as mains power isn't present. It's really annoying, because I get occasional power outages, and the switch makes certain programs, like Firefox, not work properly until restarted. I can't find this anywhere in the CCC options.

No matter what video card I throw at it, the computer does not seem to recognize the video card. Do I need to perform a bios update, disable intel onboard graphics which it seemed to create problems. So is there any solutions to my current very frustrating problem?

I have an HP ProBook 4540s (Dual GPU:Intel HD 4000 + ATI Radeon HD 7650M).
When I bought the laptop there was no OS installed, So I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit.
I downloaded all the drivers from hp.com support and driver page and installed them.
But the problem is I had BSOD almost every night (at midnight when the laptop was idle). I've analyzed the BSOD dump files and realized that CCC.exe (Catalyst Control Center) caused the BSOD everytime.
So I decided to download the latest ATI Radeon HD 7650M driver from ati.com (AMD Catalyst 13.4 WHQL) considering that the driver on hp.com was a little old (AMD Video Driver and Control Panel Ver 8.951.6-120329B).
I uninstalled the old one and installed the new one. I had less BSOD during nights (maybe one each 7 days), but when the machine was trying to wake up from sleep the screen went blank and after a few seconds rebooted and Windows reported BSOD (It didn't happen with the hp.com driver).
So I decided to install a fresh copy of windows. This time I installed hp.com driver, but didn't install Catalyst Control Center, Only HD 7650M display driver.
So far there is no problem, sleep mode works fine and no BSOD during nights.
But the question is I think that ATI 7650M is not working, and kinda like it's always idle, and only Intel HD 4000 is working (Photoshop doesn't show ATI, but when Catalyst Control Center was installed Photoshop showed ATI 7650M in performance menu as detected GPU).
How can I know if there is any hardware failure with GPU or is it a driver problem?
And how can I know if the ATI GPU is working or not?
BTW: I have the latest BIOS update (F.40, 1 Feb 2013).
