Ok had this laptop for awhile, had windows 7 on it before i decided to upgrade to windows 10.

I cant change the screen brightness now, the option is there to adjust it but nothing works. Both the hot keys and the pop up are there but neither of them work. Even the on screen adjustment moves but nothing changes the brightness of the screen. Ive tried to disable the adaptive display and ive even unistalled both display drivers and reinstalled them. Used hp and microsofts updators and still nothing.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

AMD error AMD Radeon HD 6300m driver / Catalyst software? Need my DUAL MONITORS TO WORK

I realize this is an older laptop and so the graphics card/s are also older. I just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7. In 7, I could use dual monitors with the second being an extension of the other. After upgrading to Windows 10, the second monitor, a desktop flat screen monitor is not detected. Everything that is on the laptop screen is exact on the second screen. It workd in Windows 7 just fine.

Graphics = AMD Radeon HD 6300m series and

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series

The 6300m had the little yellow triangle on it after I was through upgrading. I went to you, Windows Update and then AMD seeking help to get the dual screen setup correctly with the secondary as extended of the laptop screen. So far, nothing I have done has made it work correctly. I get an error message that says something like.... "No AMD graphics driver is installed or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the appropriate driver for your AMD hardware.?

I have tried several times using "detect" at the AMD site. I wonder if there is some kind of workaround or an appropriate driver that would work.

Thanks,

Sherry

HP Envy TS 17 Notebook Touchscreen Functionality in Windows 10

When in Windows 8.1 the touchscreen worked without issue.  When Windows 10 was initially installed the touchscreen was fully functional (scrolling, selection, magnification, scrolling from the right to open the action center, etc.).

Following the first major update to Windows 10 (KB3081424), which was installed on 8/6/15, the touchscreen functionality is restriced in many Windows functions/Microsoft Programs.  For instance, the action center can no longer be opened by swiping from the right side of the screen, the material on the screen can no longer be scrolled using touch (the touchpad still works for this function) and the magnifier (pinch/expand) function does not work on the touchscreen (it still works on the touchpad).  In Adobe Acrobat DC, when enabled in that program, the touchscreen is functional for scrolling through a document.  In the various Microsoft programs (e.g. Outlook; Edge browser, etc.) the touchscreen functions only to locate the cursor/select text, but that is all - except that the touchscreen functionality to click on something to select it is fully functional in all situations.

On the day after the installation of Windows 10 update KB3081424 an update was installed to the touchscreen controller (eGalaxy USB Touchscreen Controller update A80F) - but this has had no impact on touchscreen functionality.  Since then the next major Windows 10 update (KB3081436) was installed on 8/11 with no impact.

How do i restore full touchscreen functionality.

Laptop shutting off & overheating issues

Hello,

my product name is Pavilion g6 Notebook PC& its Operating System is Microsoft Windows 7(64-bit). Whenever I turn off this laptop, it doesn't boot up normally when I turn it back on, instead, I have to place a cloth over the vents and heat up the system. Process takes about 25-30 minutes before I can try to reboot it successfully. FYI: Saw this in a video on YouTube. But other than that problem, Shockwave has been causing my laptop to just shut off out of the blue! I use Firefox but my relative says they don't have this problem with Google Chrome, which it has shut off on them before. On top of all this, I was informed that this all might've been (including the heating situation) due to the laptop's adaptor overheating. When it shut off on me recently, I instantly checked the temperature of the adaptor near me and the vents on the laptop, neither were extremely hot. So what's going on, aside from the heat issue, is Shockwave corrupted within Firefox and/or Chrome and is causing harm to my poor laptop?

I can't do this on windows 10 because it sais is not compatible.

Upgraded to Windows 10 on 07/29 since then the touch scrren on my HP Envy m6 is not active or detected. Device manager shows

Under Mice and Other Pointing Devices

USB Touch Screen Controller (A103)

Under Human Interface Device

No HID-compiant Touch Screen device shows

This I beleive is the problem.

Scan for new harware does not find any new hardware.

I checked HP support for drivers and did not find anything.   I did delete an EGalaxy driver as another support site indicated it was bad.   Any help is appreciated.

Im having the famous black screen problem.  I can shine a flash light in to the screen and see everything thats supposed to be there.  It works fine with an external monitor so Im sure it is an inverter issue.  The entertainment pc is different and I cannot figure out how to change the inverter board.  Where is it?

hi there, ive had my hp 15-j113ea for over a year and its been great so far.

the only question i have, for this particualr model is, can i upgrade the graphics card?

not so long after i bought the laptop, the newer model with Nvidia 840m (mine is 740M) was released, and i want to still continue running al my games at max/high settings. with the increase of graphic output by games, i dont really want to completely buy a new laptop, but want to make sure i still have a graphics card that runs high performance games.

thanks

USB-to-DVI monitor cuts out DisplayPort monitor on EliteBook 8560w

I just purchased a StarTech USB3-to-DVI adapter (USB32DVIPRO) from Amazon and received it Friday. Experiencing a slight issue that I hope someone can help with.

Computer - HP EliteBook 8560w ( AMD FirePro M5950) w/ Advanced Docking Station running Windows 10

Screen Setup (prior to adapter): Built-in + 2 DisplayPort + 1 VGA = 4 total, all worked)

Desired Screen Setup: Built-in + 2 DisplayPort + 1 VGA + 1 DVI (via USB) = 5 total, only 4 will work at a time (see below)

When I plug in the USB-2-DVI, that monitor turns on, but one of my DisplayPort monitors turns off. When I unplug the USB-2-DVI, the DisplayPort monitor turns back on.

Has anyone else tried this configuration before? I'm wondering if it is a limitation of the laptop/dock, or the adapter itself. I found this forum posting, and am thinking this may be what I am running into: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-HP-ProBook-ZBook/EliteBook-8560w-advanced-docking-station-using-more-than-2/td-p/5354281?notmigrated#.Vc4tzeSFOhc

HP- dv4 Notebook

I have a HP dv4 laptop that I have been using for a few years. I had replaced the battery a couple of years ago and all worked fine, except the battery that made a loud noise out of the box, when purchased at Best Buy.

Recently, there is a persistent issue with the screen. It blanks out (black) randomly and displays again after a while. This can happen from a cold boot or after a few hours of activity. I took it to a local computer store and the technician advised it can be due to multiple reasons.

a) Heat due to blocked vents - Air dusted the vents from outside. So this too is ruled out.

b) Video card is faulty - Not sure if this is the cause. If yes how to detect?

c) Motherboard - The HDMI and VGA works even when the screen is blank. So this is ruled out.

I 'm not sure on the advise as I believe it is a software issue rather than a hardware as the screen can randomly disappear or appear on boot / from stanby or period of activity.

What is the probably cause?

Video driver for AMD Radeon HD 7340 Graphics

$

I have recently updated my HP Pavilion g6-2361eo Notebook PC from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 - there were no warnings about hardware incompability.

But now I cannot watch many video formats (mp4, flv and others), or I can watch a video once and thereafter only hear the sound from the  video but not see the video untill I reboot.

My system has a AMD Radeon HD 7340 Graphics card, and the latest AMD Catalyst15.7.1 update cannot install  an updated driver for the graphics card - not surprising since the card is not listed in the drivers .inf file.

So I am stuck with a faulty driver version 15.200.1045.1 installed by Windows 10 where the latest driver should be 15.200.1062.1004.

First of all I find it highly objectionable that Microsoft lets Windows 10 install without proper drivers!

Secondly is there any chance that there will ever be a fully functioning Windows 10 driver for  AMD Radeon HD 7340 Graphics?

Third - If I let Windows 10 reinstall my old windows 8.1 in order for me to wait for a proper driver, wil I then be entitled to the free Windows 10 upgrade later?

Are they already available for some models? I went ahead and installed the windows 10 update because I noticed a "windows 10" option was now present in the drivers and support section of HP website.

Well after windows 10 installed, I went there to look for drivers, and all it says was to check windows update....how lame. Now I wish I hadnt upgraded to windows 10

SCREEN GOES BLACK DURING VIDEO PLAYBACK

I am haaving trouble when watching streaming video the screen goes blank less than 5 minutes into programming.  I checked to see if there was some sort of power saving setting that was making this happen but there is nothing that I can find that would lead me to believe that that is the problem at this point.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Convertible display features lost with Windows 10

$

Since upgrading to Windows 10 from 8, the "convertible" features of my x360 (the whole reason I bought this notebook) no longer work. When I open it to "tent mode" for example, the screen does not flip upside down. When I turn it on its side, the screen does not reorient 90 degrees.

I have tried fiddling with the Windows 10 feature of "tablet mode" -- turning it off, turning it on, playing with the various options of whether I want Windows to automatically detect and adjust the mode, etc. Nothing gets it right. With the automatic detection on, when I flip to tent, it does switch to "tablet mode," yet everything remains oriented the same (meaning it is now upside down).

Anyone else have this issue? Any fixes out there? I have tried downloading new BIOS, event utility, etc... as instructed by HP Support Assistant, so everything is updated I think. Yet still no dice.

Would love to hear any suggestions!

Tim
