White Blotch on HP Pavillion

Hello everyone, I just received a problem regarding a "white blotch" on my laptop. I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC that I have had for a few months shy of 3 years. I have never had a problem with the laptop display, even after carrying it around every day for those three years (in a case of course).

However, just yesterday I pulled it out as normally as ever and I noticed a "white blotch" NOT a white dot in the upper-left corner (see picture below; blotch is just a touch brighter than shown.)

Screen Picture

No water damage, no pressure, no drop, or anything. Just as normal a day as any other. Does anyone have any proposed causes and solutions? Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information from me. I am extremely grateful for any and all advice. I take care of my things so this worries me.

Thank you and hopefully this can get sorted out!

Sincerely,

HP truevision HD webcam no picture but light still shows next to camera

I got this laptop last month and the webcam worked perfectly fine in all programmes - skype, youcam, online etc, and now it doesn't work. It doesn't tell me there isn't a webcam, it just has no picture. The light even comes on next to the camera on top of my screen to notify me that it is turned on, there's just no evidence of that on the screen. Any suggestions?

Unable to project to second screen

I am having trouble getting a Revolve I recently began using to project to a second screen.  I checked, and my driver, Intel HD Graphics 4000, is installed and up to date. However, in the properties window, it displays "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver. A co-worker told me that there is no driver available that supports projection on my device on Windows 8.1. Can that be true? Any ideas?

Windows 7 32 Bit Display Drivers for HP 15-r248TU

I downgraded from Windows 8.1 64 Bit to Windows 7 32 Bit. I have found all the drivers except the display ones. There was a drivers folder in the SWSetup which was helpful but the display drivers included in that does not install. I tried downloading the Intel HD Graphics drivers for 32 Bit from the Intel website. But it gives an error saying "Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements".

Thank you for the support

Pink/Green Pixelation

My laptop recently slid to the floor (It fell maybe a foot, if that) off of my bed. Since then any white screens have pink/red vertical lines across them, apart from around words/buttons/and some pictures, and most other screens have green pixels that shift around, almost like a tic or something. I was just wondering if it was a screen issue, or if it coud be the graphics card. I've included screenshots of the issue, in case it helps identify the problem. Thank you for your time.lines

HP envy 15 series modal , Screen turns white

Hello HP , I bought my laptop 3 months ago , But after using it for 3-4 weeks , it started turning white randomness ( on boot up or while working ) , I took it to HP technical support because it's still under warranty and they said they CAN NOT FIX IT , worst of all they said that the issue is caused by the laptop being exposed to Sunlight rays , Im not sure where they came up with that , I have never exposed it to sunlight ( not a single day ) , never spill anything on it.

I did some troubleshooting , on the moment it goes white , if adjusted or cooled down for a little while , the screen would come back normal , and it works well with an external monitor while laptop still shows white (I wrote this using an external monitor) .  as i said early adjusting forth and back the laptop fixes this temporarily but then comes back momentary after.

Please help me, the laptop is still under warranty , i think this is more like a device faulty than a human error,  then why do HP denie to fix my laptop

Hi!

I have a HP Laptop. I had a problem with display adapter. It used to work only in safe mode and when i disable intel HD graphic, then work in normal mode. I could not fixed the display problem and I tried to take in to Factory Restored position.

I run Factroy Restore. It got finnished and when computer restart, then after windows logo  appeared and then, black screen appears.  Now, I even can not go in to  safe mode as it says, Computer is opening for the first time, few set up to be completed,, it can not be done in safemode.

If I just try to run in normal mode, after windows logo, there is only black screen.

I did the start up Test, and it passed sucessfully.

How can I resolve my problem ?

Laptop Screen Replacement

Hi,

Recently, my laptop screen experienced some accdental damage resulting in a small crack on the left of the screen, inevitably expanding into large cracks across the screen. This wasn't such a problem until the screen pixels began turning green depending on the angle of the screen.

The screen is a 15.6-inch diagonal Full HD WLED-backlit Display (1920x1080) Touchscreen -

My question is; will I need to replace the whole screen or just the touchscreen?

Additionally, where would I be able to find replacements?

Thanks,

Craig

HP Envy - Brightness adjusting when switching between screens

Hi there,

Here are the specs of my new laptop:

  • Windows 8.1
  • Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ processor
  • Memory: 12 GB / 1TB HDD
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 840M

I am having a problem with the brightness on my new computer. I have researched this already online and found that you can turn off the auto dim feature, which I have. I have made a custom energy plan where I use maximum performance at all times because I do not want the brightness to change.

However, when my laptop is unplugged, the brightness is very erratic. When I am browsing the web, it is fairly consistent as the screen is bright. But if I open up the start menu, which is darker, the brightness goes down, about 1 notch per second, for five seconds. So when I switch between windows, I get a very slow, choppy adjustment in brightness.

If I switch back to a bright window, the brightness also goes up (similar to before, very slowly, about one brightness notch per second).

I have disabled all automatic brightness features. I am beginning to wonder if this is a setting on my graphics card?

It's not only super distracting but the slowness of the adjustment makes it impossible to even watch Netflix or stream videos as the brightness is constantly fluctuating.

Any help  would be greatly appreciated !

Please suggest me appropriate amd graphic driver for HP 431 Notebook, running Windows 8.1 64bit

I tried to install the drivers from autodetect utility provided by AMD, but as soon as the installation finishes my screen goes black and then display goes off. Then I have to either restore my PC back or to refresh it.

Is there any prerequisite that is needed before installing AMD driver, like updating chipset or BIOS or anything like that ? If yes, then please guide me with a way to do it.

Thank you.

Can't switch to my other graphics card.

Alright so I have two graphics card. The power saving Intel HD (that mostly can't handle much of anything). Then I have the Mobility Radeon HD 6370 graphics card (that I usually use for everything.) Previously I spilled soda onto my laptop and that caused the fan to have issues. The graphics card however still worked when that did happen. After taking months of getting a replacement fan I tried to replace it and that ended up being successful. But when I tried to turn my computer back on it switched itself to the Intel graphics for some odd reason.

The issue I have is, I can't right click the desktop and switch it back. I tried to go to the manufactuer site and even the hp support site, tried to install what I needed and still didn't come up with anything (Catalyst usually installed and switched it back to my graphics card but wouldn't do it this time.)

Finally when I used AMD detect it kept saying it could not detect my card which was weird. So I am wondering where is my graphics card when I took it apart and if that's not the problem how do I switch it back to the better graphics card?
