Laptop screen randomly stopped working.

I was using my laptop - HP G61-320CA no problem all day like I usually do, and I went to go eat dinner. So I closed the lid of the laptop and went to eat, when I came back to the laptop, opened it up and the screen was just all black. My first assumption was that it was just stuck in sleep mode because it ususally does do that. So I turned the power off and tried to boot up. The screen was still blank but the fan as running and the start up light & wifi button was lit up. Also the caps lock and numb lock was blinking once. I did some research and apparently one blink means CPU problems. My battery needs to be replaced and I kept getting a message saying to change it. Does anyone know if it's just the fact I need a new battery that's making the display not show up?

Any info is helpful.

Also... I have done the whole, take battery out, unplug the laptop and hold power for 60s and try to start up - same problem happened when I tried this mulitple times. I've also tried to hook it up to an external monitor and no picture comes up on that external monitor.

Hi,

 

I just had to reinstall windows 7 on my laptop due to a virus (when booting, after the "starting windows" screen the blue screen of death always showed up).

 

When reinstalling Windows 7, I let it update every single update by itsel but there is one who won't update. It's the ATI and Intel Graphic HD update.

 

After many searches, I discovered that on the BIOS, it must appear "Switchable Graphics", to change from "Fixed" to "Dynamic", but it doesn't appear.

 

Now, I didn't install the catalyst control center because when i installed it, when rebooting the laptop, after the "Starting Windows" screen, it would go black, and impossible to manipulate. And, when I right-click on desktop and click screen resolution, the graphic card that says it's in use it is the AMD Mobility HD 5470.

 

How must I proceed in order to have the Switchable Graphics back on the BIOS and the ATI Catalyst Control Center without crashing?

Hi,

 

What driver will enable the light that is displayed when pressing Function F8 to disable the microphone?

I've tried hotkey driver, touchpad driver,  and not sure what else would do that.

 

The Function numlock light is already working so I'm mystified what drives it.

I have a Pavilion g6 with windows 8.1 installed. (Sorry I'm not overly computer lit!) I had uninstalled the media player I had previously. I now need one installed. Please provide download suitable for DVD's and CD's. (We don't play games on computer). Thankyou.

Hi there, can anyone help.  I have a HP Spectre 13t-3000 running on Windows 8 with an integrated webcam.

 

When I tried to use Skype, this is the what the display looked like.  

 

 

 

Any ideas why that is, and how to fix it?

Hello,  I am using an HP 6460 laptop with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 graphics card.  Everything was working great until recently.   When i log into my device the screen is very distorted.  Sometimes it will only be this way for about a minute then it will return to the correct display, but it will randomly return.  The driver version that is installed is 9.17.10.3347.  Suggestions?

I have a hp envy ultrabook 6-1006sa it's had a recent Hing replacement but now the screens starting to go dim I put it on a external monitor and it's fine any ideas of what the problem could be . Thank you for your reply in advance

Hello,

My Pavilion dv 9700 starts (I hear the cooler, the DVD tray moves off and on, etc) but the display is completely black. I attached an external monitor, bot nothing is happened. I replaced HDD, DDR, batery, power adapter, reset the BIOS, removed wireless block, but nothing. What are you thinking? What is the solution?

Hi there, I'm having a lot of problems changing my brightness and it seems my audio features aren't as sharp as they used to be after downloading Windows 8.1. I think it may have something to do with an AMD download maybe, because I started noticing the problem when I unknowingly uninstalled my AMD from the new update, but according to my programs list it is still downloaded on my laptop. This has been going on for a week now and none of your answers to others questions with the same concerns are helping, as I've tried many downloads and different paths but my brightness remains at full which is quite blinding. 

I have an HP Pavillion, I'm not sure what the product number is or anything else you typically ask for. I'd really just like to know if there is something new I could download or what process I should go through to restore my brightness features. My f2 and f3 keys do not work either.

Hi, I have been getting this message "The Catalyst Control Centre is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your AMD graphics driver, or enable your AMD adapter using the Displays Manager."
I tried to update the graphics card and I get this message in the device status:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)."
I am using HP pavillion g4-2003tx

 win 7. Pls help. Thanks

Hello,

 

I have just purchased this nice monitor, it's connected to an ASUS notebook F550C with Nvidia Gforce 720M graphic. operating system Windows 8.1

 

Just connected to the notebook it has an evident yellow colour dominance.

Applying the default calibration or better a personal one (by My Display software) the issue seems to be solved.

 

Every time I restart the pc (even after a wake-up from the stand-by mode) I get the same issue and I have every time to recall the calibration settings.

 

I notice that the monitor has 2012 drivers and there is a latest version (2014) at HP website.

 

How can I solve this annoying issue ?

hello all. I'm just change my pavilion dv4 3110tx from win 7 to win 8.1. of course all the driver is gone. the problem is i cant change my monitor brightness and resolution. also the amd driver is gone. i check on the website for this laptop just support from win 7 to 8. can anybody help please?

it would be helpful if someone can point me to any driver that need to be installed. thx.

Hello,

I am experiencing non permanent screen burn ins, noticeable only on dark images (but not when the pc is turned off), which occupy the entire screen frame, with a width of about 2 centimeters. When I turn on the pc after it has been off for a while, no burn in is seeable; then, it only takes a few seconds after a new image gets "stuck" and is seeable in the dark areas of pictures of wallpapers. When I turn off the pc the burn ins disappear. I already updated the drivers and the BIOS and it didn't solve the problem.

 

What can I do?

HP Pavilion dm4-1150ea using Windows 7 

 

Started having problems with hdmi/vga ports not working, then the laptop would boot up with a blank screen, which would light up after about 5 minutes. Eventually the screen would not light up at all. The system seems to be booting OK because you can see faint images on the screen if you shine a light on it and the computer can be shut down by moving the mouse and clicking on the shut down icon. Have replaced the screen but still get the same problem.

My son's notebook display failed last night as you can see in the attached image.  This is an image on the screen, not a cracked screen.  When connected to a remote monitor the image is fine.

 

The machine is about 2 years old.

 

Any common causes or remedies?

One month ago I bought HP250G3 notebook for my friend. It costs 17 000 roubles. This morning it stop working (display doesn't work) and I called to HP support (№ 4738781800) they say to repare it In hp service cetntre. There was № [Personal Information Removed]
 and was sayed that it was my fault and screen replacement will cost 21000 roubles (much more then new notebook...)!

After such support I don't want to buy HP products in future.
