Pavilion G6 Notebook Screen Brightness
My 1 YR plus old G6 Notebook's Screen has just started intermittedly going from Bright to shady/dark
Is there a diagnostic I can self-run to determine the exact hardware problem? Or is this likely a common place screen lighting problem with a higly likely required fix?
Best Source to take my Laptop for a fix?

Notebook Brightness Control with Fedora Linux
I loaded Fedora 20 Linux on an HP g6-171nr Notebook. Linux operates very well on this PC except for one thing--the F2/F3 keys do not control display brightness.
Any suggestions please?

HP G71 Notebook pc, DVD player stopped on only one DVD
I was previewing a 60 min. DVD (made 2007) to watch in full later. DVD playing well. I wanted to skip ahead. I either paused or stopped the video, Went to DVD Menu and chose either "main menu" or "root title menu". No chapters titles or any other info appeared. Screen went gray. Tried to just resume play; DVD would not. Tried to start beginning again; would not do so. Ejected and reinserted DVD; no change. Inserted an altogether different video to see if it was the DVD or the DVD player issue, and the different DVD worked fine. It's almost as if I've erased or damaged somehow the DVD that I had been watching successfully up until I tried to skip ahead. I have often been able to preview DVD's via the main menu or root menu feature without a problem. Computer is working fine, and DVD player in computer works fine except on the one DVD, on which nothing now appears. Is there a simple fix for this? Did I damage the DVD? Thanks.

Product number is A6X69UA#ABA, has 2nd Gen Intel Core Processors with Intel HD Graphics 3000/2000. My question is, is it discrete or UMA? I need to get a new fan and there are two part numbers, one for discreet graphics and one for UMA.

no login screen in normal mode boots fine in safe mode
I have got a compaq persaio f700 went to turn it on to normal mode nothing I can hear the login alert but nothing
however I can boot it up in safe mode with no trouble . when I go into device manager i find a yellow triangle next to coprocessor. How or where can I find the coprocessor for this machine I am running vista 32

Updating Nvidia Drivers
Hello,
I have a question about updating drivers, I have Nvida 750m on my envy 15 Laptop. I noticed a few months ago the HP Support assistant updated nvidia drivers. However, in the past few months, numerous updates have been released by Nvidia, while nothing related to nvidia is updating through the support assistant.
Should I countinue letting the support assistant update nvidia drivers? Or should I get drivers from the nvidia website?
The drivers are becoming quite outdated.

pavillion x2 cant project to another creen try updating driver or try a different video card
I dont know if i could watch my laptop on my tv before hand but i assume i could as its a new pc ive just updated to windows 8.1 and plugged in my hdmi cable to my laptop pressed the f4 button and get a message "cant connect to another screen try updating drivers or use a different video card" my pc says driver is up to date any ideas please help!!!!

Issues with games, video card issue?
Hi,
I have been having issues with games lately. Mostly they are hidden object games from Big Fish, but they start up then minimize, it doesn't crash completely just minimizes, I click on it again and it works for a few seconds and minimizes itself again and again. I am unable to play the games because it keeps minimizing. could this be an issue with my video card? I have attempted updating it but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

Switchable Graphics Application Settings 840 G1

But it relates to only the Pavilion and ENVY range, yet I am having the same issue on my ElieteBook 840 G1 documented here:
Nothing I do seems to help, and it is very frustrating as I use the Unity Web Player, which does a lot of 3d rendering in a browser, yet my brand new laptop with a fairly powerful videocard thinks it needs to use the Intel GFX to render this because the ATI driver forces firefox to use the Intel Graphics instead of the Radeon card, anyone got any suggestions?

wireless display / miracast / widi / not connecting
My HP Envy laptop is a Model 15-j150us with Windows 8.1.
It clearly appears to have wireless display capability using Miracast/Intel Widi.
It detects wireless displays (or miracast/widi display dongles connect to displays) but will not connect to them. Sometimes it appears to be downloading something while attempting to connect the device, and after the download appears completed, it says "driver error". On some other dongles, it detects the miracast/midi device, says to follow instructions on the wireless monitor, but then it stops and fails to bring up a pin code box or go any further.
I have used the Intel Midi troubleshooter recommended by one of the HP guys on this forum, and the Intel troubleshooter says my laptop needs no updates and is ready to connect.
I know how to connect to wireless display devices because I have another laptop, and ASUS, and it connects easily.
Does anyone have a solution for me?

I cant connect my projector to my hp 655.
Last week I formatted my laptop (HP 655) and re-installed windows 7. I have some unknown driver (WiFi card-Ethernet-card read and Sm bus) so I installed hem from internet (internet explorer) now all are working properly but when I connect my projector (VGA) nothing happens and even if I press F4 button. Also brightness buttons aren't working. What should I do?

In the description it says I have video card Ati Radion R7 260
but when I run DirectX(dxdiag) it says I am with AMD ATOMBIOS 256 mb
I installed the drivers for Ati Radion R7 260(i think i did) nothing changed
To be sure that what dxdiag says is true i even installed Dota2 a game which need good video card
Please help
Am I doing something wrong or I am given different product?
If there is problem with the main(Ati Radion R7 260) card how i can start the APU card(Ati Radion R5)?

Touch screen not working

My computer has windows 8. Last week when I turned the pc on, the screen vibrated. Then touch screen seized to work. I have done the following:
I updated the touch driver - HID (Human Interface Devices) compliant touch device still it is not working.
I downloaded and installed all windows updates, still no news.
I reset the pc, but no any improvement.
Opening properties in my computer it says Full windows touch support with10 touch points. But if I want to calibrate touch screen it does not respond. Please, I berg your help.

Unable to use AMD card
I just bought HP 350 G1 laptop yesterday which has Intel HD 8400 graphic card and AMD radeon 8670M graphic card.When I bought it it had windows 7 installed and I had 2 GB radeon graphic card as dedicated video memory.But after installing windows 8.1, I can no longer use AMD card.The drivers are installed and the card is detected. But its not being used even when games are added on switchable graphics.
I even updated my bios but there's no settings to do anything with the graphic card.So how to solve this problem.I want to be ablet to use both cards as in windows 7 or only AMD if I have to.And also I cannot install USB 3.0 driver.It says that my computer does not meet the minimum requirement to install the software.But its supposed to support usb 3.0, isn't it?

Updating graphics card in a Go notebook
I would like to install a updated graphics card in my laptop NVIDIA GT720M, I have contact NVIDIA who referred me to HP the laptop manufacturer, I rang them and they won't give me any advice at all , ( some customer service) Can any one out there tell if I can put a GT720M in a HP Pavilion G60 notebook. I currently have 4gb of memory operating on a 32 bit system and my processor is a AMD AThlon Dual-Core QL-62. 2GHz running on windows VIsta service pack 2

HP2000 Laptop - Display not working - Still under manufacturers warranty
Have HP 2000-2d22DX and the screen all of a sudden stopped working. Rebooted several times and cannot get any display. Purchased in 12/13 and still under warranty. Submitted case with HP and was referred here as "Support Case Manager is not available" for this product. Please advise how we can get this laptop fixed.
