I am using a Notebook model: HPG42 Notebook PC,product number: XZ046UAR#ABA, the windows logo appears upon turning on, but then it freezes on a black screen. I've ran the hard drive and memory tests and both say ok. Do I need to use a recovery/repair disk? please help.

I have an HP G60- My screen started flickering and then it went totally black. I did the battery, powercord, hold the power button for one munute and it worked fine..... for a day. Today it flickered and now its so dim, I cannot work with it. So I took a shot and tried using the HDMI input and connected it to my TV... and it works fine. However, I need to know whats wrong with this laptop.

My HP Pavilion ea15-072 laptop has a black line which is getting thicker everytime going down the screen. It's very well looked after, still under warranty (6 months) but PC World where i purchased from wouldn't repair it under the warranty. It's never been knocked and shows no exterior damage whatsoever, and is opened as you would by pulling the lid upwards where the black line is now on the screen. It being reasonably new, it's still quite stiff to pull open. Could this have cracked the screen? How else are you supposed to open it without fear of damaging the screen?
How can i escalate this into a claim for a replacement screen please?
If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone and first of all I want to say sorry for my english if I write something wrong or etc.
I bought HP envy dv7 with Windows 8, but I wanted to use Ubuntu so I did. It was all ok, but then I decided to install Windows 7. It was a big problem for me to install Win 7 (there was no drivers even for USB and Wi-fi to download drivers! But Ubuntu liveCD helped me to access hard disk and download some of them.)
And now I can't still install video driver. In device manager I have two VGA graphic adapters.
I tried to install Intel VGA drivers from of. site first, but there was error. Even when I searched by device ID there was error "The system does notmeet the minimum requirements" or something like this. I can't install NVidia too.
Then I thought, maybe my video card is just off. I opened BIOS and...didn't find anything at all.
Please help me T____T
I have a pavilion F5B58EA touchscreen. One switched on and password entered I would normally see the windows 8 screen, for some reason its just flicking on and off the desktop screen and wont allow me to do anything other than ctrl alt delete to shut down ....?

I have had a HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j009wm Notebook PC for about 6 months now, and I love it. However, when I opened the laptop today and booted it, a white, thin, vertical line appeared on the right side of the screen, and has not gone away. Is there a way to fix this, or is something wrong with the internal components of the screen, requiring me to send it in to be repaired?

After installing Windows 7 64bit, i'm installed all drivers except driver for graphic card (display adapter) because i can't find it.

Awhile back I was messing around on my computer and ended up deleting the software for my internal webcam somehow. I think it was youcam but I'm not positive. I really need it for school and I can't afford to buy one. What can I do??
These are steps for everyone who will have such problems.
At ordinary day, the laptop or notebook begins to show defects on the screen or without any image on it while the bios and operating system loads.
First of all, try to connect another display using VGA or HDMI port to verify if the screen on laptop working well. If you have a clear image on the second screen (display) then you have problems with cable or the screen.
Second step is to blow with vacuum cleaner every hole in it to be sure nothing was getting inside it and to clean from the dust. If image coming back then I will advice to give laptop for the cleaning (it means to open and clean, but don't try to do it for youself).
If nothing helps then the chip responsable for image (video-chip) has burnt.
My question: Is there any possibility to return laptop and to get some money back or to change to the new one with lower price if only video-chip is burnt?
But I will prefer to repair it, cause it is a good one, but I don't think there are components for this model (TouchSmart tx2z).

My Sister has a HP Envy Touchsmart 17 with Win8.
It was working fine and then one day she said she turned it on and nothing shows up.
The PC starts, the HDD spins and the lights on the Keyboard flash once, but nothing shows up on the screen
I Tried to see if it would display on a HDTV by HDMI but I got nothing. I also Reseated the RAM and still nothing on screen not on the Laptop and not with a HDMI to HDTV.

I recently bought HP Pavilion Touch Smart 15-n240us Notebook from Amazon. it comes with windows 8.1 64 bit.
My touch screen is not working and it says it says No Pen and Touch Input available for this Display.
In control panel , there is no Mobil PC or Pen and Input Devices .
Please help me to enable this.

I have a HP Pavilion DV7-6014TX, and I've been having some issues ever since I upgraded to windows 8.1. My display is stuck on the minimum brightness setting, and I have found no successful way of fixing the issue, despite many hours of research.
It all started since I upgraded to Windows 8.1, the screen works fine on Windows 7. I've narrowed it down to the Intel Graphics card driver in my computer, as when I uninstall and reinstall the device, the screen will have normal brightness functionality until I restart my computer. I've tried an assortment of driver files and releases, from many different sources, and I was just wondering what alse can be done? If anything?

Im having this problem, i have a Pavilion DV6850el laptop, it comes with 512 Mb Video memory with Nvidia 8400 GS GPU, i have upgraded first to Windows 8 and then later to Windows 8.1 pro Update 1, both with clean installs and the latest version of NVidia drivers available for this GPU.
The problem is when i check the memory size, in both systems it tells me that i have only 256 Mb of video RAM and it bothers me, can someone tell me how can i correct this? It really bothers me.

Yesterday I got my new laptop, model shown in the topic. Somehow, maximun resolution available is 1366 x 768 ? I have windows 8.1, newest Nvidia drivers and newest Intel HD drivers. Also, every update availale from Windows Update and HP program are installed.
Surely, I should be able to choose FULL HD resolution, aka 1920 x 1080.
Please, can anyone help me with the issue?
