Laptop screen randomly goes black few seconds
Laptop screen randomly goes black few seconds and auto resume, sometime will also flashing. It already happen many times. I tried to install all the update HP Support Assistant suggested, installed the lastest driver that provide in HP website and updated the window version to 1809. But those action just slightly improve, the screen still randomly goes black and flashing. I just bought this laptop less than 5 days.

HP Elitebook 840 G4 and the LG Ultrafine 5k (27MD5KA) Display
Hi everyone,
I purchased the Ultrafine 5k (27MD5KA) monitor.There is only type-c output on the monitor.So, in particular, I checked my computer for type-c input.My HP Elitebook 840 G4 notebook has Windows 10 and has Type C, VGA, Display Port outputs.However, I cannot transfer images to the monitor ![]()
When I look at the specifications for the ports of the computer on HP's site ( https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-elitebook-840-g4-notebook-pc/11122291/document/c05349510#AbT12 ) , I find the following information:
- 1 USB-C (Up to 5 Gbps data transfer and 15 W power)
- 1 DisplayPort 1.2
- 1 VGA
For resolutions, HP's site ( https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-elitebook-840-g4-notebook-pc/11122291/document/c05349510#AbT3 ) includes the following information:
- VGA port: External resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz supported
- DisplayPort 1.2: Resolutions up to 4096 x 2304 at 60 Hz supported
The resolution recommendation for the monitor on LG's site ( http://gscs-b2c.lge.com/downloadFile?fileId=sWqq3wQh6LGs4uANX9gxMA , page:26) is 5120x2880. The minimum resolution supported by the monitor is 2560 x 1440. I cannot transfer an image to the monitor because the HP computer does not support these resolutions? or why can't I transfer the image to the monitor?
Kindly I need your support on how to transfer the image to the monitor. Thank you in advance for your support.

Split x360 tablet mode not enabling automatically
cannot enable tablet mode automatically. display does not rotate, keyboard and touch pad still enabled in 180 deg so hard to use asa tablet. how to fix this and automatically enable tablet mode. tried to do the following:
Win + R -> type 'regedit' and enter
Registry editor will open up.
Goto path -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation
Check the value of Enable file if it is 0 rotation will be OFF, if 1 rotation will be ON.
but everytime i restart enable goes back to 0 and autorotation doesnt work!!
Restart and Auto rotation will work.

Can the 'ProBook 450 G6' support 2 External Displays as well as the inbuilt screen simultaneously
I am newish to laptop display methods as I have always used desktops where you can easily add as many displays as you want to, but I was looking at getting a ProBook 450 G6 for work and noticed that it has a 'gen3.1' USB-C port that is also DisplayPort. I have heard that supposedly if you get a laptop with a DisplayPort USB-C you can connect a multiple monitor hub and use 2 external monitors at the same time as the inbuilt one (3 total at once). I thought you could only do this with Thunderbolt and USB-C 3.2 but is it also possible with 3.1 that has display port.

HP Envy Left Hinge Broken
I had bought the HP Envy 15 from my local Costco on 6/21/18 and everything works perfectly fine on my laptop and is a great laptop but on 1/15/19 the left hinge on my laptop broke while I was closing the laptop screen, which then resulted in the bottom left part of the screen to crack. I called HP and was told to send pictures of the screw that fell out from the hinge, and pictures of the screen where it is cracked. I sent the pictures through email and the HP worker told me there is nothing the warranty could cover because the damage is not a manufacturing issue, when in reality I did nothing wrong but tried to close my laptop. I need this laptop for my college and work and I cannot afford to pay the price they are asking for to repair the laptop although it is not even my fault and is clearly a manufacturing issue. I went on to do a little bit of research and sure enough, there were many, many other complaints of their HP Envy laptop’s hinge breaking through normal use. I am extremely upset with this issue.

Some keys on the keyboard is not working - cvmzx . etc.
Discovered this week that the laptop is not charging. Removed the battery and started the pc ... wanted to go into the bios and missed the cue ... pressed shift or alt F2 (cannot remember which one). Since then I have a problem with the random keys that is not working on my keyboard.
I have done a system restore, uninstalling of keyboard etc, but still nothing. I feel that it is a stupid setting or something.
Would appreciate some useful tips to get my pc in working order again ... need to use it for work urgently!

Replacement display screen
I am having a hard time finding a replacement lcd for my daughters notebook. On hp’s site, they show they replacement display will be like $500 or $400 with core placement and yet the laptop was only $380 brand new. I also can’t seem to find a generic that is the exact one for this laptop. The part number is 810319-001. Can anyone help because this doesn’t seem to be right?!

HP Elitebook doesn't recognise it has HDMI to display on second screen
I have a new HP Eiltebook and an ASUS large screen I want to project to. When I plug in either of the cables that came with the laptop it reads 'HDMI No Signal' any ideas please. I'm trying to save my eyes!

I need the Geforce 840M bios
My GPU hasnt been registering in the devica manager and yet I can see it in AIDA64 so I would like to try and flash the bios on the GPU except I cant find it online and HP customer service hasnt exactly been helpful so if someone on here can help out it would be much appreciated. The GPU is the Nvidia Geforce 840m.

in cq40 intel cpu, when intel vga installed blue screen appers
In cq40 601 tu, whenever intel graphics vga is installed, computer shows blue screen and restarts.
when driver is deleted and standard is installed , then computer works at resolution 1280x800.

cursor issues
Hello,
Lately the cursor or my HP Pavillion seems to have mind of its own. It hovers on the top left corner of the screen and clicks on pages all on its own, even when I am not touching the touchpad at all.
To make an example, I was watching something on Netflix earlier and every 10 minutes or so I would find myself back on the Netflix homepage because the cursor had clicked on the Netflix logo all of its own accord. My hands were no where near the touchpad. It looks as if I have two cursors, one that does what I want and another that just hovers on the top left handside of the screen and ends up clicking on things. I am not sure how to get rid of this phantom cursor.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Screen of HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13 jumps
I recieved my new laptop today and have just started up it for the first time and already noticed something strange; the screen "jumps" occasionally slightly upward to the right.
There doesn't seem to be a coherent pattern to when it does. Everything else works fine. The one thing I have done is updating the software and downloaded Google Chrome and the jumping-problem was present before the update and download of Chrome.
It's really annoying, what do I do?
