The scree on my lap top is cracked pretty bad so I opted to just go ahead and make it my home PC and connecto it to the tv. Well i had it hooked up and everything was working great. For some reason the battery wont charge im hoping thats a bios issue but wheatever, I was moving the laptop and it came unpluged and turned off. No big deal, well i was wrong....now I cant get any kind of dispaly exterally. You can see that everything still works on the laptop itself so I am not sure if I jacked up a setting or what. Is there anyway to fix this like a master reset. Ive unplugged the cmos batter but other then that I havent tried much else. ANy help would be greatly appreciated thank you

LCD damage, NON-CID

I'm reaching out in hopes of a possible explaination or acknowledgement of a strange issue that I have come across in my organization.

On three separate occasions I have had two Elitebook 850G3's and a Probook 650G2 returned to me with what appears to be a broken LCD. (Pictures included)

I understand there can be those anomaly's every once in a while. Somtimes trusting an end users explanation can be difficult however, when three different people have the exact recollection and explanation and more eerily, identical issue, I have to believe what they are telling me.

I attached two pictures of three systems, the first 850G3 I already sent off and paid for the repairs. These are the other two. As far as I can tell, opening and closing the panel, I do not see any stress surounding the damaged area given by the resistance of the right hinge. That said, I believe there could be an electrical problem somewhere in these panels and I would like to know if this is a known issue. These laptops have been in the field around 1 year or less, they have not been dropped, each user stated the laptop was not even being used or idle.

It seems coincidental that the new cost to replace the lcd panel is half of the cost of these laptops ($570), I think that is fairly expensive for a laptop < 2 years old.

Connecting the HP Spectre x2 to two external monitors...

$

Hi all,

I have purchased a HP Spectre x2 12-c009tu device. As the screen is small, I would like to connect this device to an external monitor...preferably to two external monitors. My intention is to purchase a multi-monitor splitter so that one of my USB-C port can output to two external monitors while the other USB-C port will be for charging / data transfer purposes.

The type of multi-monitor splitter I am intending to purchase is provided in the link here. It specifies that the USB-C equipped device must support video (DP Alt Mode) to work with this adapter.

I am wondering if this multi-monitor splitter will be compatible for the HP Spectre x2... Would anyone on this forum be able to offer any advice, or recommend a product is compatible? The HP product specifications page for my device quoted the ports having the following specifications..."USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s, Power Delivery, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge)".

Any advice would be very much appreciated, many thanks in advance!

Im am connecting my Zbook portable workstation to an HP LP3065 monitor through the HP 230W Docking Station (A7E34AA), and I can only get up to 1280x800 on the display resolution options of the  Control Panel.

This display has only three DVI input ports.

I am using a new Dual-link DVI cable (24+1 pins) male to male to connect the docking to the display.

I have an NVidia Quadro K2100M with up to date drivers.

How can I get the native resolution of the display (2560x1600)?

Envy x360 won’t wake up from sleep mode

Hi, I’m having issues. My Envy x360 won’t wake up from sleep mode. I have to power off and back on any time it goes into sleep mode. I’ve searched for solutions and can’t seem to find anything relating to the Envy x360. The notebook came with Windows 10 installed on it so I don’t think it has to do with the Windows 10 update or anything as I’ve seen this caused issues to other people. I also saw a solution to adjust keyboard settings to be able To use the keyboard to wake the notebook up but I could not follow the instructions because they weren’t relevant to the Envy x360. Any help would be appreciated.

In the device manager of my laptop, the nvidia graphics do not show up.  This laptop is supposed to have a discrete Nvidia GeForce 930 MX graphics and they do not show up in the device manager.  I have tried installing the driver for them, but the driver says that it could not find compatible hardware whenever I try.  All I have access to is the intel graphics.

Spectre x360 2018 screen flicking

Using it for couple of months. At the begining it had a coil whine sound but now it is gone completely, guess the brand new components finally settled down ))

HP Spectre x360 13-ae092nz Laptop i7, 16GB RAM, 1 TB SSD

I am comfortable with this laptop I tried the DELL XPS and ASUS Zenbook Deluxe, I want to stick with HP! Please provide a fix .... If fix is not available, provide information whether it would be possible to replace this model with the next years edition? I am ready to pay the depriciation cost (the difference) and hope that the next version won't have the screen flick issue.

This screen is annoying, a real pain in the ass. Flickering comes and goes from time to time.

Here are the following steps I already took:

- All possible and available drivers are installed to the latest version (I am using the HP driver tool that was preinstalled when I got the laptop, so all the drivers are dowloaded from your servers.)

-BIOS, Windows OS, Graphic card Drivers all are updated to the latest versions provided by HP.

-I removed the HP optimised graphic card drivers for Intel UHD 620 and installed a generic more up-to-date version through Intel's driver website. It didn't solve the flickering issue so I changed back to Drivers supported by HP.

Today is 18 of May 2018. I just ran a complete driver update checkup to ensure that no single driver is outdated on this laptop.

Troublshooting of all components. System optimization and disc defragment again through HP official software that you provided with this laptop.

Flickering still didn't disapear! It shows up from time to time.

Following list are the cases when I engaged with screen flickering:

-Whatsapp for desktop (flickering starts after sometime when the app is running, it flickers with every single letter I type in the chat. I don't have a technical background but may be this information would explain to you a lot more)

-Youtube, not olways but from time to time when I enter fullscreen to watch youtube video, the flickering would randomly come and go at the bottom of the screen.

-Happened couple of times when I was running a game with windowed mode (I was just testing if it would cause a flickering.... it did Cat Indifferent

-Browsing the internet, the only browser that didn't cause flickering so far is Firefox. Flickering started when I was using Google Chrome and Edge when I clicked to maximize the browser window to full screen.

-Very rarely flickering happened during Microsoft office word.  Again entering full screen mode and at random ocasions.

The screen resolution is set to 1080 and is fixed.

Suggestions, Solutions ? Please advise

Laptop display not working but external display works?

$

I'll start from the very beginning. The laptop has gone back and forth between the HP Repair Centre for a record 3rd time in 2 months for problems both parties shouldn't be wasting their time with. Here's the timeline so far:

  1. First send it contained:
    1. Intel CPU Patch for x64 Architecture for the vulnerability patch which was installed via HP Support Manager.
    2. Began process but never finished.
    3. Installation caused BIOS to corrupt rendering it a brick unless motherboard changed.
    4. Laptop sent in for replacement
    5. Comes back with Omen Motherboard and therefore incompatible systems rendering Trackpad, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Graphics Drivers unusable since someone though it was a good idea to use an incompatible motherboard with given hardware.
    6. Also comes installed with additional software for systems not available on my notebook
  2. Second time sent in contained:
    1. Laptop sent in a second time
    2. According to engineer, all parts including the display replaced. Plastic chasis not changed however.
    3. Receive laptop
    4. Chasis not connected properly but snaps into place when pressure applied.
    5. Touchpad not installed properly and can see insides of the computer.
    6. Display screen and chasis not connected properly. Chasis sometimes buckle.
    7. I ignored these things as I had work to do and stuck with it.
  3. Third time and most recently;
    1. Display suddenly stopped working on one fine day doing work.
    2. Initial though was laptop was out of battery. Placed to charge.
    3. Come back later to find that internal display stopped working sometimes. It works fine but some reason, connection between display and motherboard not working, yet works sometimes if I'm lucky.
    4. Tested with external display which automatically becomes primary display.
    5. Check device manager and shows only my external display as visible display. F4 doesn't do anything to fix the problem
    6. Tried theory that sensor for lid closing isn't working but external screen goes to sleep when lid is closed.
    7. Tried to update HP related drivers for display and whatnot, no changes.
    8. Tried to factory reset, no changes.
    9. Ocassionaly, display will suddenly pop up and work fine until it sleeps which then no longer can be detected and thus laptop becomes a desktop.
    10. Sent laptop in HP Repair Centre after 2 days of self diagnosis with instructions painfully conveyed to customer support.
    11. Laptop came back today with new display and reinstalled trackpad and started installing Adobe and Chrome along with Nvidia Graphics Card Driver.
    12. Works fine and a restart to apply changes.
    13. Reboots fine and can login as per normal.
    14. Leave it to text, computer goes to sleep.
    15. Interal display no longer works again. Hard reboot doesn't fix anything and only external display works now.

Look, I'm sick and tired of this mind game testing my patience with customer support at 3AM and this very expensive laptop I've gotton for school. I'll admit that the parts replacement and other services HP has provided to fix my problems are free and no questions asked if its a problem on their part. But for goodness sake, if your engineers can't fix a simple display issue which I'll add-on is still the big problem here, how the hell am I going to get any work done. If I wanted a second desktop, I would have gotton one. But I need this to do work on the move and this display problem is driving me nuts and wasting a lot of my time trying to get a work around just to recover my files from a computer that should be working fine. I've tested every working theory on how to fix this from page 1 to page 11 on google and none has seemed to work so far.

Look, I know its in the warrenty that no replacements are allowed whatsoever, but don't you think that after 5 chats, 2 calls and 3 visits to the Repair Centre meeting with 3 different engineers in the span of 2 months for the problems of a single laptop that this laptop has wasted too many's people time and something more drastic should be taken instead?

Any suggestions on how to counter this problem is greatly appreciated besides calling into Singapore HP Repair Centre for another repair problem that probably isn't going to work.

Screen flicker in new Stream 11

Bought a new Stream 11 a week ago and have noticed that there is an intermittant flickering/flash of the screen (happens when theEdge is being used and when not on the 'net.  Updated all drivers and software via the HP Support Assistant.  Current graphics driver is dated 10/16/17 (version 20.19.15.4835).  Have seen two other posts with the same issue and there seems to be no fix for this issue.  Is this an HP, Microsoft or Intel problem (cannot update graphic driver to latest version via Intel website).  Any help is appreciated.
