Certain keys on my keyboard are not working. The touchpad and the two buttons under it are not working. The letters that don't work at all are the v (copy pasted it). when holding shift and clicking m I get "YM" and when holding shift and clicking "v" I get a "T". The "alt" does not work either. 

 

this happened gradually. I hae had the "i" not working before but it soled it self after reinstalling windows 10. The computer worked properly before. The first problem that arised was the "v", then the touchpad graduallly stopped working (for some time it worked sometimes, but not always). I also hae problems with the computer not always reacting when typing in my password at the start, only certain keys. These keys seems to be random when the problem arise adn it is soled by me restarting the computer. tried reinstalling windows 10 but that didn't sole any of the problems aboe.

Hello, 

 

When purchasing my laptop i bought the hp 3 year support pack which included accidental damage protection. Having now had an accident and now needing my screen to be repaired, I called to book this in and was told that the support had been discontinued so I would have to pay!

 

While the support assistants were very helpful, they said that they were unable to do anything so I should post a question here.

these are the keys and other funkctions that are not working properly:

 The "v"

shift+v=T

"alt" does not work

"m" works fine as lower case letter,

but Shift+m=YM

touchpad not working

the two buttons underneath the touchpad are not working

 

The "v" was the first one to not work, the the touchpad gradually stopped working. It has sometimes worked at startup but just for a second before not reacting. then I started haing problems with the others. reinstalled windows but that did not sole anything.

Support, 

 

We have couple of sets of HP EB 1040 G3+ docking station + 3x HP ZR22w Monitors. Two of those screens are connected to Display Port  ( using DVI to Display Port adapter ) and one via VGA.  We set it up to use 3 external monitors with the notebook lid closed down ( not using notebook screen ). In majtority cases when turning on notebooks after sleep/hibernate/power-off state only the VGA monitor lights up. Both Display Port (DVI) screens are still in sleep mode. 

 

We haven't come up with one solution for the issue yet:

Sometimes opening the laptop lid and putting it back down wakes ramaingin 2 monitors.

Sometime unplugging and reattaching the  DVI cables from docking station wakes up screen. 

Sometimes the switch screen ( FN+F4 )  

Sometimse "playting arround" with Screen resolution option in Windows wakes them up. 

 

In general

1) we dont have issue only with VGA screen

2) this is not single case issue ( a least 5 cases )

Hi pals,

 

I'm just after some advice really.

 

I've had this laptop a while now - about two years. Within a couple of months of owning it, one of the hinges broke. Then after a while, the second one started to go as well. I really should of got it fixed earlier, but I haven't got round to it. The laptop still runs OK, but I've obviously a bit worried about it going kaput in the near future unless I manage to sort out the hinge issue.

 

My questions are really as follows:
Does every single HP laptop have different hinges? I'm looking on ebay at the minute for some used replacements and there's so many different options. I would of thought all HP Envy 17 laptops would have the same hinges...am I wrong to assume this? The touch pad on the my Probook 450 G3 stoped working. It does not show up in the device manager either. I have tried loading the updated driver with no change. I have also tried to load the defaults from the startup/bios menu, with no change. However it works when in the startup menu. sugestion?

Hi HP Team,

 

I tried to update the bios on my laptop, as the latest Win10 updates wouldn't install without it.

I went into the Bios and clicked to update, and it started downloading, went to 100%, and then froze to a screen saying "System Bios is being updated, do not shut down or remove external power, and verifing new Bios image..."

And it has been frozen ever since.

 

What do I do? Can anyone please help me? (A couple of hours now)

I purchased a USB-C to VGA dongle to connect to an external monitor, but the laptop is unable to connect to it. The same dongle was used without any problem on another laptop (Dell XPS15).

 

What do I need to do to make it work on my Spectre x360?

Like in the title. I have a feeling that switchable graphics just does not work and all and computer always uses the integrated intel one instead of better AMD GPU. I would like to completly turn off the intel GPU and always use the better one. How this can be done?

Hello dear forum and HP Suppot team.

I have recently bought an Envy 13t (2018 version) and am trying to find out if there is a compatible active stylus available. The model number does not appear on any compatability sheets etc. I can't find any reference anywhere to what sort of touchscreen technology this model uses in order to determine which stylus types will work.

 

Does anyone know if there is an active stylus option?

Hi,

When I connect my HP to my Sony Bravia TV using HDMI, I get no signal.

My TV just shows the message  "Unsupported signal. Check the device output" on the screen.

 

Apparently my HP can find the TV, as the HP shows "SONY 50%" when I hold my cursor above the sound icon.

 

My Hp do not appear at the HDMI-unit list on my TV, so it seems as my TV can't find my HP.

 

The HDMI cable is working find, as I can use it with an HP dv7-6110 (upgraded to w10 from w7) connected to the same TV without problems.

 

Both HP's are updated to W10 version 1709.

 

The screen solution is 1366 x 768.

 

I have tried all HDMI inputs on my TV, without any luck.

 

The screen on my HP is configured to dublicate.

 

I think I have been through all the settings i can imagine, but I still haven't found a solution.

 

I hope somebody can help me....

Hi,

 

With a startup sometimes the touchpad gestures don't work anymore (like turning it of and on again by tapping in the upper left corner, or scrolling with 2 fingers). I already updated all the drivers.

I think it may have something to do with a external usb mouse, that may be conflicting with te drivers, but then again if i reboot without that mouse plugged in, the touchpad drivers also won't start up properly. Also what i noticed is when the gestures don't work, I also don't see the touchpad Icon in the toolbar in the right corner in the toolbar.

What works for me now is just installing the driver all over again when the notebook is turned on, but this is not a sustainable solution for me.

 

Does anyone have an idea how to resolve this?

I have had this computer for about a month now and love everything about it except for this one problem... The trackpad is such a pain to work with! My biggest problem is finding the "sweet spot" for the right clicker. Most of the time i have to click around on the lower right corner of the trackpad until i can finally find the "sweet spot" in order to access the right click functions. On occasion, the left click will give me trouble and the scrolling mechanism will get jumpy on me. Everything else works like a charm but this right clicker is the biggest pain!! I am hoping this can be resolved because i cannot go much longer with this problem. Someone please help me resolve this!!

I have a hp probook with ubuntu and am trying to open the disk drive. the computer shows what looks like a disk drive but has no eject button. i have programmed a shortcut to eject and when i type eject in the terminal it says its unable to find. so does that mean i dont have a disk reader?

My laptop dv6 6119tx gets freeze after enabling Radeon driver 6490M. if i diable it and restarts the system it runs fine. Earlier once i saw notification display driver not responding but later on i stated getting regular problem of system freezing. I updated my driver even laer on reinstalled it then too i faced same problem. But fianlly i factory reset my system by using original system recovery disc but then too system was getting freeze when drivers were getting installed after removinf the disc but after trying number of times my recovery was completed successfully. Then i updated drivers and windows but still my system gets freeze when i enable display driver. I have performed all memory test result is pass , even no hardware changes in last 2 years. iahve checked all drivers which is up to date and windows it also upto date. Please specify the problem.

DV6 6119TX, WINDOWS 7 (64 Bit), i5 , Radeon graphics (6490M).

Hello and good day, 

 

 

My company purchased an HP ENVY 750-514 late last year along with an HP monitor 25es. 

 

I added a 2nd monitor through an ACER All-in-one and it was working fine. 

 

Just this week, the employee who uses the ENVY reported to me that the display turned to black and white (or grayscale) since mid-december. 

 

I took a look at it, uninstalled & reinstalled & updated drivers, switched out HDMI cables, tried different monitors, changed settings, erased unwanted software, checks for viruses and malware, checked BIOS (82F1 vF.11), ran diagnostics (F2), removed too much power charge (by disconnecting the power cable and pressing the power button for more than 5 seconds), etc., etc. I've ran out of options... unless I do a clean restore of drive C, but I don't really want to go there, yet. 

 

Has there been a solution to this? I know we are not the only ones with this problem as I have seen other forum users report this very same issue. 

 

I have included pictures so you could see what we are dealing with.

I'm confused. Used Windows Media Center for TV for years. Spectrum just switched to all digital, requiring a set-top box. I bought a USB IR receiver which does a good job of controlling the set-top box, but I want to watch TV on the computer. When  I repeat Set Up TV Signal I get "IR hardware not detected."

The screen is blank even when I turn it on. I do hear the fan going, LEDs lighting up and the caps lock light is blinking. I’m not sure why it’s like this but please help me out.
