Gedit in Windows Subsystem for Linux(WSL)
I have installed Ubuntu. I installed gedit using "sudo apt install gedit". And when i run gedit command it says -
"Failed to connect to Mir: Failed to connect to server socket: No such file or directory

Screen frequently freezes
Since buying this notebook, I have noticed the screen freezing. Everything gets blocked for a few seconds and then works fine again. This can happen reapeatedly every 5 seconds. Then, it freezes so badly that I need to close the screen and re open it. After doing this the notebook takes quite long to react but works well (until it freezes again...).
I have checked the errors in the event viewer, and have reduced them considerably. I have reinstalled windows but this did not help.
Should I replace it? If so, how?

Dont buy an HP computer
Don't ever buy an HP computer. I bought mine 8 months ago, and from right out of the box nothing but problems with double cursors, screen blowing up or scrolling all the way to the bottom, camera not working to sign in. Have called HP numerous times only to say the problem is fixed, and just recently had it sent to HP to be fixed, with a video of exactly what it was doing and this so called technician (A0804844) says it's fixed, but didnt fix a dam thing. HP is a horrible company and will never buy another HP computer again, should of went with Samsung or Toshiba like before, atleast their computers worked.

Touch Pad buttons AND keyboard randomly stop and start working
I'm using the laptop. Randomly, the touch pad buttons stop working. I can still move the pointer around but I cannot click anything. I can't click by tapping and I can't click by using the 2 buttons.
Here is another observation. If I have an application open, say Notepad, I noticed that if I move the pointer over one of the menus, say the File menu, the menu does not become highligted. Also, if I try typing in the application, say Notepad, no text appears.
I installed the latest relevant driver and updated the BIOS.
I read other posts but did not see exactly the same problem.
What else can I try?

Pen is recognized on screen but lags and doesn't click
Hello!
So I've used this active pen before on my HP spectre and it's worked just fine. But now, when I touch the pen to the screen, it shows the little diamond cursor but does not click. For instance, if I touch my pen on the X to exit my browser, the cursor shows up on the X and the area around the X is turned grey, but it doesn't close out of my browser. It doesn't work when I try dragging the bar to scroll down on a page, either.
Additionally, when I drag my pen across a page, there's quite a bit of a lag between the cursor and the pen tip.
The nib is secure in the pen and my battery isn't too old. A couple of months, maybe. But I rarely use the pen and now I want to use it for drawing.
I have a feeling the battery is just dying but I'd hate to put a new one in only to find out that battery isn't the issue.
My finger works fine, so I know it's not a problem with my screen, and I am positive that the model of pen works with the model of computer I have, as the pen worked in the past and came with my computer itself.
Please help ASAP!

Laptop Defetive
For a couple months now I have been trying to get a refund for an expensive laptop that I bought in August. This laptop was a HP 2 in 1, with the following specs, I7, 16gb ram, and 1tb hdd. This laptop was bought after my old lenovo went bad and I received a full refund for it. So after 2 weeks of owning the HP laptop the touch overlay cracked witch originated from the hinge mechanism. This caused the touch screen and pen not to work. So we called best buy of where we got it. The store manager screamed at us on the phone and said no refunds, and that it would be a nice 120$ for them to look at it to see what they could do. Mind you this laptop had never been dropped or mishandled and when it was transported it was in a padded backpack. So then we call HP for support, after being on hold for 2 hours I finally get someone to talk to. I tell him the problem and he says "the screen is not covered under warranty", I said it is a hardware component and it was a defect. He said no, not covered. He said that they could fix it for 400$, so naturally I asked how would I know that it had been fixed and the issue would not happen again, He replied when it is replaced it should be teased by a "technician" for a 24 hour period. Then he said you can pay over the phone with a credit card right now but the price can't be locked in so if you call back tomorrow the price could be 500$, mind you this was a 900$ laptop for my schooling. Witch I used up my savings to pay for in assistance with the money from the old laptop. I said I would call him back and I would figure out my options. He proceeded to call back every day for 2 months demanding payment and also yelled at me and screamed at me on the phone. It was very stressful emotionally. I continued to use the laptop and just disable the touchscreen and pen. After 2 weeks like that the laptop broke and the screen was just dark with no response. When I turned on the laptop I heard it boot up, I was the windows hello light come on then nothing at all on the screen. I pressed every key on the keyboard and every key pattern I could find on the internet and nothing would get the screen to come on. So I take it to best buy in person so that they can take a look at it my mom and I head straight to the customer service desk and get the process of a refined started (best buy leesburg store at 609 Potomac Station Dr, Leesburg, VA 20176). The first guy we talked to was very nice and had no problem starting the refund process he also said "I see a lot of HP come though they break all the time, I recommend apple because they don't have these problems". Then came the part for the manager to come over. She was not a nice person at all. We told her the story then we took out the laptop, then she said no we can't take this back and said that I could be fixed for 400$. Eventual there are 8 people surrounding us. I explain how a ips screen works and how there should at least be a back light that comes on. She proceeds to scream at my Mom and I. The "Geek Squad" guy said "We have sold hundreds of these and they come back all the time they are very delicate I have repaired 3 myself the first one was dropped, the second one had torque on it from OPENING THE SCREEN, and the 3rd one was crushed in a backpack", We then explains how we were long time customers and had bought all of our stuff from best buy since they opened. They said then "The screen is not covered because you only have a warranty on hardware, the screen is not hardware" I said how is the screen not hardware it a physical part of the laptop. The geek squad guy said it is not hardware or software. I then said what is it then, He said the same thing again. We then said that no one in our family would buy anything again from best buy unless the issue was fixed. They didn't care about that, so we left with a very sour taste in our mouths. Under VA law this violates consumer protection laws. So when we called HP aging they said "you are being emotional" when we brought up the consumer protection laws then hung up on us. So at this point all I want is a refund. I also learned that best buy of leesburg, Va doesn't care about its customers. It is really a shame we bought a washer / dryer set one week before we went in to the store. After these events I went to costco and bought a cheap laptop with money I didn’t have because I needed a laptop for school. The reason why we have been taking this so slow is because this process has been extremely stressful and heart breaking. That was the first time I bought a fancy high powered laptop and I was crushed when it broke. I was also shocked at how HP bullies it customers into paying over the phone with no website for repairs for its product's.

Spectre x360 remove palm rejection 1.5sec touch delay please
Hi I bought a HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-bl1XX (8gen MX150) and noticed a delay in the touch after using the stylus. I checked in your website and this is a specific feature but is very anoying thing and innecesary when windows 10 fall creator update supports system palm rejection.
A lot of people reports this like an error becase is inusable for touch/pen programs like onenote

"If your system supports palm rejection technology, when the active stylus is in use, the touch screen does not respond to input from your hand. Wait approximately 1.5 seconds between using the stylus and using your finger."
So the behavior is intentional.
but In the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-bl0XX , apparently, you fix it via firmware.

the bios don't have any "Advanced" setting in BIOS and in windows the mobility center doesnt have backlit keyboard stting.

HP Tilt Pen Not Compatible with Corel Painter 2017/18?
I've got a Spectre x360 15xxx, using with Corel Painter 2017. When I used to use the Spectre Pen that came with it, everything was hunky dory.
Misplaced that pen, so bought a new HP Tilt Pen (USB-C rechargeable, 4000+ degrees of pressure sensitivity, etc).
PROBLEM: I can't get the pressure senstivity to work in Corel, although it seems fine in the Microsoft Ink apps (which are pretty limited for professional illustration, naturally). Even trying to adjust the "expression" settings in Corel by changing the pressure settings does NOTHING.
Is there a way to "format" the pen or upgrade the firmware to make it compatible with the latest software?
There seems to be VERY little information on the Tilt Pen available online - I seem to be one of the three people who has managed to obtain one. Currently (Jan 2018) all websites including HP's are showing the Tilt Pen "Out of Stock". Hmmmm.
Anyone know how I can make it work?

Remove double tap
Here's what's happening i only use my touchscreen on this computer but on the last update now when i touch the screen most of the time i have to double tap it to open it or to collect my coins in games but with the built in pad i just touch it once and it opens.I just need to know how to get back to my single touch when i am normally using my computer in games or what not.

My laptop enter key keeps pressing even though it is disabled
I am not sure if this is the right category. I do not have the issue when it is safe mode. This is my sons computer and he has it in Italy with him. There is no place nearby to take it for tech support.

The HDMI port worksproperly.
What do I need to do to get the USB C port on this laptop to provide HDMI or VGA signal?
