Today on several leads and monitors my hdmi output stopped working completely, it was fine yesterday.
I've looked at all the diagnostic tests and nothing seems to cover this.
What else can I try? The product has 4 months left of its warranty and I've had to order an USB-C adapter for presentations next week.

I recently upgraded the o/s on the above mentioned laptop to Windows 10 64 bit as a result of a free offer.
The Resource Manager shows physical memory useage at 82%. Is this why the Laptop is now very slow?
1. Would upgrading memory on this 10 year old laptop be worth it? I believe the maximum would be 4 Gig of Ram OR?
2. Also looking for a Nvidia video card driver updates, presently the Video driver being used is the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter> and now the 17" display now sucks!

How do I project my laptop screen to another monitor using a HDMI to VGA adapter cable? I've tried the F4 function key as mentioned in the user guide and cycled through but the 2nd monitor doesn't project my laptop screen.
I plugged the HDMI end into my laptop and the VGA end to the Samsung monitor model B2030, model code LS20PUZKFYUZA, but the screen remains black even after making sure the power is on. When I select the Source button on the monitor, it cycles through Analog & Digital and it seems I've tried digital and it shows "check signal cable" and for analog it just stays black. The cable is a XF Times HDMI to VGA gold, X00172MQBH.
My laptop is 15-au123cl with Windows 10.
ok..I actually just didn't have the HDMI end plugged in far enough so it works just fine by cycling through using F4
HP Envy x360 (Ryzen) come with at least 2 different display panels:
BOE - BOE06F9 (returned this one for excessive bleeding problem)
and... dimmer, yellowish ones from:
Chi Mei - CMN15E9 (returned for excessive uncorrectable yellow tint and visibly low brightness)
They look very different. One has good white color, the other... not worth mentioning. Took some serious correction to minimize yellow tint and as a result screen is a lot (at least 20-25%) dimmer then its already dim appearance while still slighly yellow tinted. Returned it...
BOE displays, although not the brightest ~250 nits, are much brighter then Chi Mei displays.
It is very disingenuous from HP to freely swap display units, without any info on that, as the appearance could not be more different. As a result you are getting a different, visibly lower quality product then the one you may have seen on display.
I'll be replacing the unit that came with the ChiMei display panel. In my opinion they are much below the acceptable standard.
Is there any way to determine what display/batch/factory laptops come with? as I'll be looking for a BOE display only...
How to identify, without opening the box whether the units are equipped with BOE or Chi Mei display panel?
Lastly, these are very diffrent looking panels, they may be within HP specs but from the customer point of view they could not be more different. How's this possible that HP is using such dramatically different, and in case of Chi Mei substandard panels?
SD card reader has worked fine: assigned as (F). Card reader does not recognize the SD card (tried more than one card to make sure it is not the card itself). In settings, that slot, F, is not available to assign. The only change has been to change my printer access from wireless to using hardwire cable so a slot that has been previously unused is now occupied by the printer cable.
I removed the printer cable, restarted, also powered down completely and restarted with no change.
I own a HP Pavilion x360 13-u131tu which I purchased around 4 months back. Recently I upgraded my BIOS to version F31.Rev A which was released on 21 November 2017, since then my touch screen is not working(neither in BIOS nor in Windows). In the device manager there is an exclamation mark and an error message with code 10 stating that the device returned an invalid HID descriptor. When I try to install the firmware from HP's drivers website I get an error message stating - connection retry. I am on Windows 10 64 Bit v1709.

I bought this laptop around 560$(2100₺) 1 year ago. Games or programs does not detect the graphics card even at set to "High Performance" on AMD Additional Settings.Even the HP Support Framework does not. It says "Microsoft Basic Display" or "R5 Graphics"(Both dedicated and integrated video cards) .
guys please im having problem in progecting my laptop screen using RGB cable with TV or with progector,
buh if i connect other laptops to same devices, they work perfectly
and all my PnP drivers are up to date
with HDMI, it somtimes work.

Sent my Pavillion laptop in for repair Dec 26, with promise that it'd be back by year's end. Got a notification the next day that return time is pushed back to Jan 5th. Submitted email to HPtwice inquiring why it's taking so long, and have only received automated reply. This repair is impacting my work, as I use this machine exclusively for my job. The repair status update page has given no new information since the machine has been in HPs possession.
VERY DISAPPOINTED in customer service for this $400 repair to a screen that cracked on its own! My questions and concerns fall on deaf, uncaring ears, and I am being finacially impacted by not having my work computer back in the promised time.
It's too bad, too, because the machine has worked well overall, self-cracking screen witheld. Unfortunately, this is one HP customer that they will lose when the time comes for a new one. You can't treat your customers this way, HP!
My brand new laptop, two days old, is getting rebooted repeatedly every few minutes. It shows error VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (atikmpag.sys). It has Radeon R5 graphics card. In the chat forum of AMD , i came to know that it is due to this card and so i need to update driver of this card. However, the updated driver is not getting installed, even after downloading it from HP website and neither from AMD website. It shows Error 1603, and says, it is partially installed. I am able to use this laptop only because i have disabled the Radeon R5 card after going to device manager. Please suggest ways to resolve the issue without making the warranty void.
I have an HP856692-601 motherboard as a replacement for for an HP 856683-601 motherboard. Shortly after booting the graphics get all screwey (multicolored lines/ partial screen colors/pixels here and there) such that I can't really see anything. Ive plugged computer into an external source and the graphics are the same on the external source, so it's obviously something with the graphics processor. Im curious as to whether this could be a graphics driver issue. I contacted the individual I purchased the replacement board from and they were unable to tell me specifically what model HP 17 computer it came from, but from my own research it appears that both of the boards have the same graphics processors. Any idea what the issue could be other than a defective graphics module? Any way to test the graphics module? Thanks in advance

I had the monitor hooked up previously to a older laptop using a docking station, but on this new laptop with no docking station, I'm at a loss how to hook this up to work with the monitor.
Any suggestions most appreciated.
I have three USB ports on this laptop and a HDMI connection.
The monitor has VGA, DVI, DisplayPort inputs.

On the wondershare Filmora site, my data keeps disappearing. Finally downloaded a finished product (40 minute long) having re-done it 7 times! It plays on my computer but big deal since it was created to download to DVD to be mailed to far flung family/friends. Coped to DVD-R that shows the data has been used up, but will NOT play on a DVD player hooked up to TV. Wondershare just wants to take over my computer to "fix" the problem. This process is why I bought a new computer last Thanksgiving because the blame was being put on my operating system removing my data from their site. Still happens with this one.
Since Windows no longer has Movie Maker, anyone have any really good suggestions of another operating system / program that I could re-create this program that will transfer to DVD as easily as Movie Maker? PLEASE HELP!!!!
I have recently purchased an EliteBook 840 G4, a docking station and an EliteDisplay E240c video conferencing monitor. You'd think this was all designed to work together. Unfortunately, after much trial and error I still only get black on the EliteDisplay Webcam.
The EliteBook and docking station only have USB 3.1 ports and the monitor cables provided are DisplayPort and USB2.0 which I am both using. Is this the issue (ie USB 2.0 - 3.1), is there a fix??
Everything else is working, the monitor, the audio in the monitor, the webcam in the Elitebook. The webcam in the monitor is recognized but is black.

Have a late model 2017 Spectre x360 (15-BL112DX -- the 15inch 16GB ram 4k model)
Experienced periodic freezing of screen shortly after purchasing the laptop. Would have periods without, but always would return. Battery on or battery off. Wifi on or wifi off.
Updated all the drivers I could. Read about fixes; applied popular wifi fix noted on this forum.
Still freezing.
Finally did a few things:
1) Reset bios to factory default. May have still been a few freezes after this... might not be this.
2) ***Likely the fix*** Went to "Intel Graphics Settings" (from control panel or right click desktop)
Went to the power options. Disabled "Panel Refresh" in both battery and non. Disabled "Display Power Saving Technology" under "On Battery" options.
Haven't had a freeze since.
