Black screen after Windows update. Can only see the display when power lead is connected and power o
I have an HP Pavilion DV6 notebook running Windows 10.
Following Windows 10 update 3 days ago a problem occurred with my battery stating that it was plugged in and charging, when the power lead was not connected at all!!
Then the screen display went black!!
The only way that I can see the display screen contents now is if the AC power lead is connected and power is on.
The battery status show s 100% fully charged plugged in.
When I disconnect the ac power the screen goes black. Replace the actual power cord and switch on it works ok?
I have run HP battery check and calibrated the battery which displays that it is ok.
Any advice you could offer would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Frequent Frame drops for apparently no reason?
I recently purchased a lightly used Hp Pavillion and it worked pretty great for the first week or so. However after that I was confronted with a problem (that i have researched for some time) and still have not bested. My notebook handles games fine at a high fps like no problem, but every few seconds, the fps simply drops to 15 (even as low as 7) for what appears to be no reason. I have researched the problem and tried all sorts of solutions, but the only consistancy im getting now is the inevidable and disappointing frame drop. I have tried messing with the settings of my Nvidia and Intel gpus but the problem only got worse from there (complete freezing followed by a watchdog violation). There is no improvement whether my laptop is charging or not, and this happens on all games that require the use of 3d processing. ALL games that have any sort of 3d in them will trigger this issue. If I may request the aid of someone who might have a solution I would be quite greatful. Thanks for hearing meow-t.

HP Pavilion -- Colors are de-saturated/ Washed out
So I just recently bought this laptop, and its been workign relativley fine for a couple months now.
I have a seperate Tv monitor that I use for art projects and such, and ive come to noticed that the colors on my laptop display, are extremly washed out compared to the colors on my tv monitor, and even my cell phone.
Yes, I've tryed adjusting my display colors, but whenever i get to saturation. It doesn't give me the option to adjust it at all. I end up button mashing keys while it just stays the same. Which inevitably makes me skip it and move on to adjustmenst i dont need.
This is extremly inconveinent and disccorouging of an issue to have on a laptop that i spent so much money on.
Please help.
Several screen problems: Tearing, checkerboard pattern, freezing, letters not showing fully, and fan
My laptop has become useable in the past few days. I have no idea what as triggered this. I haven't been on any risky sites, no crazy downloads, and I haven't removed anything. I've had this problem before where games would'nt play and I kept getting "blah blah has been block from acessing grahpics hardware" but that was solved by updating my drivers (for some reason they refuse to update automatically). Now it's come back with a few.... A LOT other problems. The random checkerbaord patter still pops up when typing next, the screen still tears (Imagine tossing a thin layer of black ink on your screen). The screen freezes up randomly. And when I start up the laptop I get this random message about my fan not working properly. And for some reason I can't post pictures with my text so please reply with an email adress.

I want to warranty my laptop in VietNam
dear sir,
i have a problem with keyboard of the zbook. i'm live in VietNam. my laptop still under warranty. Unfortunately, the machine was purchased in America and I was donated by a relative so I did not have vouchers related to the purchase. so hp vnnam do not agree to warranty. but they told me if i emailed hp and they agreed then hp VietNam will accept my warranty.
Right now I am just a student, so I do not have much money to replace a new keyboard for this laptop. When I write code I'm very annoyed when I press the button many times to receive. I am now in the midst of a desire to create something that is useful to society.
I write this email looking forward to Hp please allow me a replacement warranty for another keyboard
HP Laptops and Intel UHD Graphics 620 HDMI Output
Hi there fellow system engineers and other people looking for solutions!
We found a solution for people who are having problems with Windows 10, after doing the update to Version 1709, and connecting screens or projectors connected to their HDMI output.
We have a lot of colleagues who are working with this laptop and when they connect a screen or projector to it, the screen says "mode not supported" or any other kind of message stating "not supported".
We tested this solution on HP Pavilion x360 laptops with an Intel UHD Graphics 620 graphics card build in.
Make sure to download the driver here: Download Intel UHD Graphics 620 (driver version 23.20.16.4877)
And make sure to download the *.zip file and not the *.exe file and also inzup it in a location of your choice !!
What to do:
(If you connect your second screen or projector via HDMI from Step 1 on, you will first see that it's not supported and thus won't see anything on that device).
- First go to "Device Manager" (RMB click on Start Button and click on Device Manager).
- Expand the "Display adapters" menu. You will see the Intel(R) HD Graphics 620 videocard.
- RMB click on it and click on "Properties". The Display Adapter properties will be opened.
- Then go to the tab called "Driver".
- Now click on "Update Driver" and click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
- In the next screen click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".
- Now you should click once on "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". And click "Next".
- It will now start Installing. When it's done click on Close.
- Now, if you closed the Display Adapter properties window, RMB click on it again and click on "Properties".
- Then go to the tab called "Driver".
- Click on "Update Driver" again and click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
- This time on the next screen click on the "Browse" button to browse to the folder where you unzipped the downloaded zipfile.
- The installation will begin.
- Click on "Finish" or "Close" to finish the installation.
- If you had a screen or projector connected via HDMI already from step 1 it will work immediately. Otherwise connect one to test it, it should work! Also after a restart, it still works...
I'm not sure if this has been solved elsewhere on this forum, but we couldn't find a solution until now on the forums.
All the driver updates directly from the HP site for at least the Pavilion x360 systems did not work.
So HP didn't test it good enough (or not yet at all)..
Also Microsoft did their part in screwing something up in the Windows 10 1709 update which screws ups the HDMI output..
VERY NICE!!
So at least for the Pavilion x360 laptops with Intel UHD Graphics 620 it is working. And probably other (HP) laptops with the same graphics card..
Hope you have a lot of fun with this fix!!

HP625 webcam not working
My webcam no longer works after a windows update.
I have checked the driver and told it is the most up to date.
I think windows did inform me at the time that the update no longer supports my webcam.
what can i do?

Spectre x360 Pen/Stylus compatibility model 13-w013dx.
I need to know which type to buy as I gather the X360 changed which would work based on pen technologies. Some use a digitizer but by somewhere near the start of 2017 they switched to blue tooth like a Surface Pro. Mine was made late Nov. 2016. Please advise
HP Envy HDMI port stopped working
I have a Samsung display that I use to extend the desktop, which has been working for months. Some time in the past month or two the display stopped working, displaying a black screen with the floating error message "Mode Not Supported - Resolution not supported. Change the resolution of the external device." I have tried the laptop on multiple Samsung displays in my home with the same results. The display works fine with other inputs. I have tried changing the resolution of the second display in the Windows System Settings, all of them have the same results. I have also gone throught HP Support Assistant and have updated drivers, all other system updates, restored BIOS to default settings, and run HP hardware diagnostics, both quick tests and extensive tests, all report as passed. I can move the mouse pointer off the screen onto the other display, and the primary display seems to indicate that the mouse moves on the second display as the mouse takes an equal amount of movement in the opposite direction to return the pointer to the primary display, but of course nothing is actually shown on the second display. I have also seen at least two other posts to HP forums with similar, if not identical, problems with no reported resolution. Would love HP's assistance on this! The laptop is less than a year old and should not have hardware failures already.
HP EliteBook 8460p - Switchable graphic not working (no Intel device)
Hi,
I bought Elitebook 8460p with following specs:
- Intel Core i5 2520M (with integrated Intel HD Graphic)
- 16GB RAM
- 256GB SSD + 320GB HDD in upgrade bay
- ATi Radeon HD6470M
Bios:
BIOS Date
04/06/2017
BIOS Version
68SCF Ver. F.65
I tried following OS confiugrations:
- Windows 7 PRO x64
- Windows 8.1 x64
- windows 10 x64 (for this I know that switchable graphic is not supported by Intel)
Currently I'm using Windows 7 (but for both Win7 and Win8.1) and I installed all necessary stuff from HP website (drivers / hp programs) and I'm not able to use Intel HD Graphics to increase battery life time.
Intel HD graphics not appear in Windows device manager (also there is no unrecognized devices), in ATI Catalyst Control Center I'm not able to "set profiles" for high / low performance applications in graphic card context (I had only general PowerPlay options in power section).
In BIOS I'm not able (there is no such function) to turn on / off discrete graphic card (or hybrid).
Bios configuration utility output below (current settings and detailed laptop info).
I tried installing Intel drivers before ATI but I got info that System doesn't meet minimal requirements to complete.
Could help with that?
