Hello everyone. I purchased an HP Stream 14 Laptop back in February of this year 2017. I installed norton antivirus software as soon as i got it home to keep updated with the latest antivirus software. About 3 weeks ago i was searching for an item at amazon.com and was reading the description of the item then all of a sudden i get this error message saying that it needs to shut down but please wait for the system to boot back up so it shut down but after a minute of waiting it didnt come back on. So i tried powering it back on. The system powered on but there was no display picture of my computer booting up so i tried unplugging it from wall socket and booting it up then i tried plugging it back into another wall socket and booting it back up and still no picture. I am computer swavy and know a great deal about them and what are the general problems with certain hardware pieces not functioning correctly. I do realize it could be one of a few problems. It could possibly be the video card burnt out and needs replacing, or it could simply be the hard drive stopped functioning, so i looked up on youtube the black screen of death and the responses i saw was mostly dealing with replacing the battery with a new one but to plug in the charger cord to a wall socket and take the battery out to see if that is the problem and if i get a display picture on screen then i just needed to change out the battery. Is there a step process that you can offer me in how to remove the battery correctly, what type of battery do i need to look for and which stores sell that particular battery? That is if indeed that is the problem. Theres a computer repair place here in town located inside the local wal-mart that just to look at the laptop to see what is wrong with it they charge $75.00. So if i can change it out myself without having to pay that ridiculous price and on top of that probably another 100 and something to actually fix the laptop, i am open to any and all suggestions. Nothing against the computer repair places for charging high prices cause i understand and know they are in the business to make money, but if i can get by with fixing it myself then i would rather go that route. Can someone please help?

I've been having the same problem with the same model number 15-u483cl.
Tried the suggestions, except for reinstalling Windows 10, which is going to require alot of work searching for the right install media - this pc has no optical drive, I have no idea where to find the install thumbdrive files, etc.
HP - any updates?

HP and Windows Ten - High Resolution Screens and DPI - Issues
Hi,
I've just yesterday upgraded my old windows 8.1 laptop (HP Envy) to the new line of HP Envy 13s - One of the latest envy models.
After setting things up, I noticed issues with the display and graphics. An example would be of the below:
I launch up a microsoft office application and the normal splash screen is absolutely tiny (The app is fine) but the starting screens are small. I am aware there is an issue with the DPI support and Windows because of the high resolution screens. I Have attached an image to show what I mean
So, I tried to change the resolution within the Settings module of Windows 10 and compatability to remove DPI support etcc, but nothing seems to work.
I have tried a couple of tools but everything is either too small, or text is large and often blurred, more common on Windows modules itself such as the device manager (attached also).
The current screen resolution is 3200 * 1800 (as recommended on the system)

Example of the blurred text in basic windows modules such as device manager: (The screenshot makes it appear fine, but in reality, it's blurred and not as crisp as other text.
Another example would be windows dialoge boxes - Again, on the screenshot, this looks a little better, but in reality, it's all blurred.
Do you have any suggestions. I am a little disappointed in HP because the device cost over £1000,00 and I expect top quality for this price, regardless of this is an OS issue. If this is something that is widely known, such high spec screens shouldn't be included on the devices.

Dead Pixel on new HP spectre x360 screen
My Spectre x360 13-ac0XX has a dead pixel. Pixel is black in appearance, ie not a stuck pixel. Haven’t tried any measured to cure it and would like to wait for HP's response.
I’m not sure if HP will still respect my warranty if I try any third party software or websites. Anyone know how/if HP offer help with dead pixels?

HP omen 17 - flickering black pixels
Recieved laptop 3 days ago - start to updating windows and for a while everything was fine but then black flickering dots(pixels) start to appear. If i delete graphic driver - they disappear, yesterday i installed BIOS and HP nvidia update and everything was fine for a while, but then problem started again.
Is it hardware or software issue?

Port Replicator 3005pr

I have 3005 pr port replicator connected to Lenovo yoga x260, when I share screen by teamviewer or Lync the other side see black screen, when I'm out of dock it works good no black screen, and when I tried with Lenovo dock its working too
seems that the problem with HP port replicator dock, I checked that the driver is latsest and still the same
