I've had a Pavilion dv6 3030tx (WX050PA#ABG) for a few years now. It's rarely used and has nothing malicious installed on it, and still works fine. However I can no longer change GPU! There's a dedicated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (High-performance GPU) and an Intel HD Graphics (Power-saving GPU) that I was normally able to switch between at any time but now whenever i click the power-saving gpu button nothing happens. I can play all my games and the laptop otherwise works fine (though its always very hot when using the stronger GPU) but I can't switch back to normal which reduces my battery life to 30 mins or so.
Drivers are up-to-date, as well as bio (was updated maybe a year ago; the 3030tx hasnt really had any upgrades released).
The HP detect device no longer detects it either! It just says no products can be found.
The Driver Manager isn't reporting any problems at all.
Catalyst Control Centre is missing a lot of options and sections (both basic and advanced mode) and I can't even get in to check Fixed graphics etc.
Again, I haven't installed anything that could cause problems - only things that work fine on my other PCs/laptops. I did click 'check for updates' on Catalys Control Centre before i noticed this problem (a couple of days ago) but it just referred me to older updates I already had.
I've never heard of this problem, but any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated! It seems like my graphics cards/something isn't being detected properly...
Thanks! Jarrah
