Greetings,
I have an HP Pavilion DV4 laptop, product number LH989AV, running windows 7. The other day I opened a bottle of soda whilst using the computer, the soda exploded and some hit the computer. I turned it off, tried to clean up the mess, and when I turned it on later that night, it had intermittent screen discoloration that flickered on the left half of the screen. Today, when I turned it on, the entire screen was discolored, and the discoloration no longer flickered, but will still sometimes show normally for a few minutes at a time. I connected the laptop to a TV via an HDMI cable, and the discoloration does not show up on the TV, which makes me think the issue is not with the graphics card. The computer is past warranty by about a year and a half. I opened the laptop up to see if the cable was somehow loose, but it appears to be just fine. Is this an issue with the connection cable to the screen or the screen itself, or something else entirely?
Many thanks for any help you are able to supply me.
Edited to add images. This is what the screen looks like discolored.
This is what the external monitor looks like, or what the laptop monitor looks like normally.
