Pavilion dv7 Screen black and volume/wifi lights red

Trying to start up our Pavillion dv7 and the screen is black. It boots up like it's running properly with fan noise, etc. The volume button to mute sound and the button to turn on/off wifi are red and won't respond back to white when pressed like when it's working properly.

I've tried hooking it up to external monitor and no display there and no change to the problem.
