I have a 15-j173cl that "whites out" at certain lid angles. If I push it around some it goes back to an image, but if I have it at "the wrong one" then the screen fills up with white (kind of a neat effect, if it weren't making the computer unusable!).
Any suggestions? I have the machine open now and was mainly wondering if there's a ribbon cable somewhere that could be culprit.
The left hinge for the screen on my laptop has become detached from the base. I'd like to know if HP can repair this. If this isn't offered by HP can you recommend an authorized repair center. I am not having any issues with the software, the computer runs fine.

Before I spend the money for an external monitor for my Notebook (TS 15 r254dx), does anyone know if the PC will still run the external monitor when closed? I just have the HDMI port, no docking station. I'm going to assume I can use it in expanded display mode, though that is not directly addressed anywhere I can find either.

WAS running OK with crackced screen but touchscreen was not responsive to touch. Then screen went black.
Replaced screen/digitizer with new, Updated BIOS to most current. Updated drivers except video. Get error message that it is not compatible. It's a Intel processor which HP supports and the update is for the Intel processor. Confused on that one. Not even sure if that is the problem at this point. Tried hard reset. Nada. Hate to think I just threw money away. Is there a "video card" that goes bad? Not a techie so ... just gutsy enough to try to fix with a lot of patience and courage!

I got this notbook from my mother on my birthday and i love it so far. One thing thats spoiling the whole experience is the fact that i can switch to tablet mode but it dosent activate. My my question is does this model(15-BaO19nr) have a touch screan, how can i activate it and if it has no touch can i activate it by updating the notebook since it has the touch mode function.
Got a new notebook about month ago.
Last few days while working (with no heavy loads) display can randomly flick and shake, see photo below.
Is it software bug or hardware? And can i solve it manually (and how)?
My touchscreen is broken (glass is cracked and shattered), after receiving assist from this location regarding the part number needed, i have more inquiries regarding the digitizer glass.
1) Will the LCD screen operate if the digitizer glass is damaged ( trying to determine if the screen is operational )?
2) Can the digitizer glass be purchased and installed separately?
3) Can a "non-touch" screen be installed with this model and if so, what software or hardware changes are required?

Trying to help a friend with this model, whose G&H key hve stopped working. Have tried....
1. Discharging any residual power
2. Unplugging mouse.
Also doesn't work in the bios hardware diagnostics testing.
Anyhting else he could try?.

So I had this laptop for about a year, I use it for Video editing, light gaming and basicly everything.
Now since about a month it would just shut down once the GPU reached 90°C, now there is no thermal throttleing happening at all and I've installed Coolsense, wich in the past prevented such high temps. But Coolsense won't work and I don't what to do.
So I don't know if this is enough infromation but basicly the GPU goes all in untill 90°C and then shuts down or puts on a black screen that won't stop and this occurs since I hooked up an extra monitor to it.
So thanks for reading I hope you can help me.

In my new laptop there is not a hotkey for disables and enables touchpad. So, I want to create it. Or a solution like "double-tapping the upper-left hand corner of the TouchPad", which is realized for previous laptop configuration, is alsow OK.
In fine, it should worke - disables AND enables - independently of external mouse presence.
I tried to find a touchpad advanced settings, like HP old instruction recomended. But they don't existe in specified section.
I tried a special external program which sets hot keys. It worked well with other functions (I created audio-functionality keys also), but don't find a touchpad functionality.

The mouse keys on this (new) laptop are making a very loud clicking noise when pushed. It's annoying and distracting to others in the room. Is there ANYTHING I can do or get to muffle the sound???????
Nothing happens when i click on the icons in the desktop taskbar, like internet connections, speakers, etc. I can right click & get those options but i can't launch it by either left clicking (single or double) or by touching it on the touchscreen. **bleep**? Pls help I'm going crazy...thanks!
My old notebook HP dv series (Windows 7) had a dropdown slider to expand or reduce the display (i.e. 100%, 125%, 150% etc) and you could type any value you wanted. My new notebook, Pavilion x360 (windows 10), aside from being a nightmare from day 1, has no dropdown. Only way to adjust screen size is in settings and there are only two...100% and 125%. Anyone know a way to get the old dropdown back?
There are games where I can play flawlessly with beautiful graphics and other games, that do work but with terrible lag/graphics such as "Dirty Bomb" where a simple movement with the mouse will have great delay (probally a whole second delay in movement) with terrible and slow graphics, and many other games. This laptop is a month old and great hardware, I had just reinstalled the HP HD graphics (Intel(R) HD graphics 620)

RAM-12.0 GB (11.9 GB useable)
The tv worked for all of 15 seconds, then stopped. I have downloaded the recommended drivers with no resolution to the issue.
It is as if the HDMI port no longer exists. I cannot find it anywhere in the device list.
HP, is this the kind of customer service you want to be known for? I see many comments on this thread for the same issue, yet you have not provided a solution.

When I start up my laptop and then dock it, the video monitor will only show my desktop background photo. My desktop icons do not display. If I undock my laptop, all the desktop icons are there. Why won't they display when docked?
Trying to connect my laptop to an Apple 30" cinema display that has a resolution of 2560 x 1600.
I have seen a post saying the spectre can only support up to 1900x1200
However, I have seen another reference saying that the Intel 5500 can support in excess of the resolution I need to run the Cinema Display.
Can you please advise, so I know which direction to go on an external monitor connection.
