WebCam Quality
I ordered an HP Laptop from Costco three weeks ago. When i received it, although it was suppose to be 1080P the video quality was very bad. I returned it to Costco today. After spending a few hours looking at the laptops at Costco today,
I bought an HP 15-AU123CL. In the store the video quality of the camera on the display model was very clear. The video quality of the one have is very grainy. Very poor quality.
Before I return this one, can anyone tell me how to fix this issue and what the reasoning for the poor video quailty on the webams.

HP 360 Pavilion Windows 10 - Touch Screen stopped working
I recently purchased a new HP Pavilion x360 with touchscreen (approximately two weeks ago). The touch screen stopped working. Root causes may be plugging in with HDMI into TV or switching to tablet mode.
Under hardware and software in the control panel, I only have the following options: devices and printers,autoplay, sound, power options, display (make text smaller/larger, adjust screen resolution, how to correct monitor flicker), windows mobility center, intel graphic settings, HPCoolSEnse, Energy STAR, Interl Rapid STorage Technology, Synaptics Clickpad, and B&O audio control.
I have tried everything I can find online, yet nothing has fixed the problem.

Getting the Most of High Performance GPU on HP Pavilion dv6t-6100
Afternoon Guys,
I recently got a used laptop and Im having some issues regarding the performance of my High Performance GPU. Alot of games that are supported by my GPU seems to be lagging and also im getting FPS drop of under 30 FPS with some. Now I posted a question in another forum about could it be my AC adpater. The one I currently have is a 65W which didnt come with the laptop but accordding to the service manual this specific one is compatible. Now Im pretty new to PC gaming with secondary and High Preformance GPU's so my question is....
For an AMD 6770m GPU does a 65w AC Adapter provide sufficient power for gaming or do I need to invest in a 120w AC adapter? Does it make a difference?

Doing alittle searching I found the answer to my question. The problem is is that for my model laptop OpenGL and I noticed DIrectX applications cannot use the discrete GPU in dynamic mode thats set in the BIOS... you have to set it to Fixed Mode via the BIOS. According to this support guide provided by HP

So thats what i did. I enabled Fixed mode in the BIOS and then in my favorite games I turned on V-Sync and viola the few I tested seem to work now. All it was was that fix.

Web pages displayed in very compressed size
Screen display resolution is normal until I connect (wirelessly) to the internet. Then web pages are displayed in an extremely compressed size. How do I get them back to normal size?

Spectre x360 not displaying 1029x1080
When setting resolution to 1920x1080, the actual dispalyed resolution is only 1396x785. Tried uninstalling display driver, reinstalling using HP provided driver, Intel driver, Microsoft driver. None work. When switching to lower resolution and back to 1920x1080, the screen briefly flashes to greater reoslution, but goes back to 1396x785. The setting still says 1920x1080. Coworker has same laptop, same drivers, but displays the real desires 1920 resolution. Help is GREATLY appreciated.

Problems with double tap touchpad disabling/enabling
I just recently swapped my old HDD with brand new SSD and did a clean instal of Win 7 home preamium 64 bit. After I downloaded synaptics v17.0.19 (appears as Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad in Device manager) straight from Synaptics homepage, I noticed that that most of the gestures work, BUT the orange LED that indicates a disabled touchpad, is glowing when the touchpad is actually on. I disabled the touchpad from settings and the LED turned off. The double tapping in the upper left corner does not work either. In Mouse properties -> device settings -> Synaptics LuxPad V7.5 settings -> Tapping I can only configure tap zones in each corner of the touchpad, but not enable the upper left side double tapping which should disable/enable the touchpad. Does anyone have any idea why is the LED on in vice versa situations and why doesn't the double tapping trick work?
I have tried uninstalling the driver, but no luck.

No backlight / dim screen
Hello!
I manage several hundred chromebooks and repair them as needed, and I've got one that I've seen twice now and not found a good solution for.
My issue is that we have a Chromebook 11 G3 that has a dark screen, very faintly you can see what should be displayed. Not a case of the brightness being turned down, but rather the LED backlighting on the screen appears not to be working.
I've now tried replacing, screen, motherboard and display cable in an attempt to fix this issue. The screens were brand new, as were the replacement screen cables, though the mother boards were second hand. HDMI is still functional in all cases.
I have called HP support and not gotten any information other than "replace the motherboard".
As I have now seen this twice in the past month and all of those devices were purchased at the same time I have concerns that this may be more frequent.
I guess my question would be if there is a schematic for testing the boards or information on fuses that might have blown and could be jumpered or replaced. I would also love to know if anyone else is running into this issue. I would also be thankful for any resources on testing procedures for components like the screen and output on the eDP connector. I have a little background in electronics and don't mind testing and/or soldering.
Also, I have already tried powerwashing/resetting the device to no avail, stating that as I know almost all of the support responses get that procedure pasted in as a fix. It is not for this issue.

touh screen driver is gone
I have had this lap top for over 9 months and my touch screen has always worked and two weeks ago it just quit working. i have done every step to the hp troubleshooting and the driver is gone too! What happened? It is under warrenty but I do not know who to contact to get some answers. I keep getting redirected to the troublseshooting pages and i have done all of those options without my touch screen working. please help.

How do i get my camera back to turn on at start up so my eye scan can work?
- All of a sudden I lost the camera at startup on my Omen Laptop Gaming 15t. I used the eye scan for logging in, and it now longer comes on when the machine is turned on. I looked at everything, but can not figure out how to turn it on. it boots up with the message like: can not turn camera on, use password.
Any help would be great.

Descrepencies with specs and device manager
I just recieved a Spectre x360 that I had chosen to customize. I chose to pay $10 more for the HP TrueVision Full HD WVA Webcam, the standard level at the time was HP TrueVision HD Webcam.
I got the laptop. The webcam doesn't look great. I checked device manager and it says the laptop has a " HP Wide Vision FHD Camera". I went to Best Buy and started poking around. The beautiful webcam on the Spectre x360 15t at the store shows a HP TrueVision Full HD webcam in its device manager. The not so great webcam on the Spectre x360 13t shows a Wide Vision, as does the Pavillion and the Envy. My quality matches the Wide Vision quality, so I'm feeling like this isn't just a device manager error.
I have now wasted 4 hours of my life trying to talk to HP about this, but I'll get back to that.
Here's my questions for the forum:
Can someone confirm for me that they have a 13 inch Spectre x360 that shows an installed "True Vision" camera?
Does anyone have one they got in the last 6 months from hp.com? Model number?
Does anyone else have a descrepency from what they ordered and what they got.. webcam wise..?
One of the things support said was that the speficiations I chose were modified by HP because they couldn't work. I'm still fighting/talking to them on how we'll fix the issue. But here's the thing, almost all the Spectre x360 13 on HP's site list the TrueVision in their specs, even the one sold by Best Buy (that also showed Wide Vision installed) listed TrueVision in its Specs...so is ALLL of that a lie? Is HP listing one thing but installing another?
Or is there a device manager glitch? Why does the 15t show the right name AND a better quality if it's just a miss-naming?
More info from other owners would be very helpful as I try to understand what's going on here.

Diagnosing LCD backlight inverter problem
I am having problems diagnosing the error with a notebook LCD display inverter.
Symptoms: After switching the notebook on, the LCD backlight comes on but the intensity oscillates rapidly (flickers). After about 1 second the backlight turns off completely. Once the backlight has turned off, the AC output of the inverter measured with a DVM is 0 Vac.
I visually checked the inverter board and there are no obvious faults.
Given the symptoms, can anybody venture a guess at the problem?
- On the one hand I am tempted to say that the backlight is ok (after all it ignites) and the problem is more likely to lie with the inverter.
- On the other hand I am wondering whether the flickering of the bulb (faulty bulb?) causes a open-circuit protection of the inverter to kick in after 1 second.
So in summary I am not quite sure whether the fault is more likely to lie with the bulb or the inverter.

black colour lines across horizontal on laptop screen
my laptop just expired waranty , and recently the laptop is giving problem . there is a black colour line across the screen of the laptop horizontally. I just want to know how do I clear the line or how should I do.
My waranty just passed, November 17th 2016 , so I would be appreciated if HP can offer a special price or half price for a new unit. it's so unworthy when then laptop face problem just after the warranty period. I believe may user is having problems immediately after warranty. wonder is it the way sould be , immediately after warranty the problem will arise?

Touchscreen malfunctioning on my HP Pavilion
I am having problem with my HP Pavilion X360 m3-u001dx 's touch screen. Well it works perfectly in the first few minutes of using the tablet mode then after 10mins, the touch screen will be slighty unresponsive like it doesn't work when i'm swiping the screen to scroll up and down. This happens everytime i'm using the touchscreen for more than 10mins even if the laptop is not on tablet mode. I tried calibrating but it did not do anything.

Faulty screen replacement - do I have to buy another touchscreen or can I replace with a non-touch?
I was using my laptop last week and closed the lid when I was finished and had shut it down. When I reopened it an hour later to work again I turned it on and got a screen that was all grey but changing in shade like it was spreading from left to right. Then a few seconds later when the HP logo usually appears the screen appeared to show 4 images of the screen (one in each quarter of the screen) and all are moving/vibrating with lines across them and incorrect colouring.

The laptop was not dropped and was barely even moved between the two times of usage. I don't know if it's just an internal cable connection or the screen itself that's faulty but I am abroad now in Namibia and having only just turned the power on to see the screen the repair center I went to said it needs a new screen but they only do non-touchscreens.
If they go ahead with replacing the touchscreen for a non-touch will the laptop be able to accept that? Obviously sadly I'll lose my touchscreen functionality...
