Touch screen stopped working

Hi friends,

New to the forum, and I'm hoping someone has a solution for me. I have been having an issue with my touchscreen... it doesn't respond at all. It had been working, and while I don't know exactly when it stopped, it's not working now. I have a Pavillion 15-n023cl, running on up-to-date Windows 10 64-bit.

 

Everything else is working fine...the display is in pristine condition, and there are no cracks, stray lines, scratches, or anything out of the ordinary on the screen that would make me believe it's a screen issue.

 

I've tried just about everything on the forums and on the Internet, including:

 

  • Cleaned off the screen with a microfiber screen-wipe 
  • Restarted the laptop...removed the power cord and battery, tried again...still not working
  • Updated all drivers via the HP driver app
  • Did a system restore back to a point where I knew the touch screen had been working
  • Reinstalled AMD drivers and input drivers
  • Flashed the bios to the most current version
  • I've looked in the setup for a setting that would control the touch screen
  • In Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices, there are only two drivers listed: HID- compliant wireless radio controls and HP Wireless Button Driver. Under Hidden Devices, there is an item HID-compliant touch screen. However, it's grayed out, and right clicking only gives me the options to Update Driver Software, Uninstall, Scan for hardware changes, and Properties. No Enable.   I've tried all of them..including uninstalling to attempt to force they system to re-install the drivers. Nothing has worked.

I've tried every item in Settings, and can't seem to get the the touch screen to work. 

 

Any new suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Then maybe I can get some sleep!

I bought this off a friend who who has windows 7 on it but the web cam does not work, or the wired mouse, or anything I plug in will not work. The touch pad is working fine everything looks like brand new. Please help want give as christmas present

Chromebook Ridiculously Slow

Have a Chromebook 14 for over a year. It has always run slowly - but I've persevered with it as conceptually I love the Chromebook idea - and believe I have a set up issue rather than a hardware problem.

 

Regularly, when I needed assistance, I went through the settings help prompts which took me to Chrome support not HP support! So I've effectively been receiving the wrong support while my HP warranty expired!

 

Anyway, tried powerwash etc which initially works (which gives me hope it's a set-up issue), but slows again within hours, wifi is fine as no other device in the house suffers lag, but my lovely Chromebook is p-a-i-n-f-u-l-l-y SLOW!

 

Very few extensions involved. Cleared cache history etc.

 

Really at a loss. Help!?!

 

 

Display flickers, low quality view = not detailed, bright colors change to dark grey

I did not noticed the exact moment when this problem occurred. The display flickers, brighter colors become darker grey. Also I see red color traces on brighter colors when I watch videos. The quality of everything I open looks lower than before. Even computer properties or other opened windows are lower quality and not detailed as before. The problem disappears when I adjust the screen and support it with wall or if i slightly bend it. I know that the problem might be because of the malfunction of the flat flex cable but I don't know exactly. 

 

It would be great if experts could help me or customers that have fixed this problem and know what to do.

Envy 17 touch - screen has streaks / bands

Hello,

 

I just got my new laptop yesterday. One thing that I noticed immediately is that the screen has faint streaks / bands vertically. I was able to take a pic of it below.

 

Look at the wording "hoose your picture" and notice the purple-ish band that goes vertically above the letters "ur" on the word "your" .

Also if you look at the middle area between the two black lines, to the right of the word "Picture", you can see alternating faint bands.

 

Display driver is up-to-date.

HP Spectre x360 - 13-w063nr docking station

I need a dual-display docking station that supports Display Port to connect to the newest HP Spectre x360 - 13-w063nr. I'm using the Spectre as a portable work station, so I need it to disconnect easily from the two monitors. Does anyone have suggestions about a docking station? I would need a brand name and model number of the docking station.

I can't adjust the screen brightness of my laptop. how can I solve it please help.

hello,i recently bought hp pavillion au084tx which i use mostly for gaming purpose.I am experiencing lagging when i run the game on battery(when i am not plugged in to power) but it works perfectly fine when i am plugged in.I basically play medium graphic range games which i think run perfect with my laptop specifaction. The gpu clock speed falls drastically when using on battery.Is this a battery issue or is there a solution for this

I am planning to buy HP Pavilion x360 13-u132tu. I have been told by someone that being multitouch enabled convertible, I will be able to write on it like I am writing on my notebook. Only the condition is I have to use special digital pen made by HP. Is it true?

How do I free up memory to run programs, when there aren't any programs running?

i cannot use an app:  the computer tells me to free up memory & system resources.   then try re-booting and re-installing the app.  i have a 64 bit windows 10.   i would appreciate any help or suggestions

 

 

Brightness no longer adjustable

Hey,

 

I do not know exactly when it started, but i can no longer set the brightness on my laptop. Not using the function keys, not in the energy management tab in the control panel.

 

A google search turns up something about reintalling video card drivers in device management, installing the driver from hp website and upgrading the video card drivers from device management. None of these options worked. Is there anything else i can try to fix this?

Chromebook screen rotation

I have a chromebook that is provisioned with Google apps that has a problem.  Whenever the Chromebook is used it has to be adjusted from a 90 degree right turn and a zoomed in resolution.  I can fix it with the Ctrl-shift-rotate keys and the ctrl-shift-minus keys, but the next time we go to use it the rotation and zoom is back.  How can I get it to hold the right orientation and resolution.

Hello. I need help with my laptop. I did fresh install of Win10, downloaded WIN updates, downloaded and installed all drivers form HP site, but my touchpad is not working.

 

When the instalation was fresh with no new drivers, touchpad worked, but after install of microsoft or HP drivers it stops working. I can see it in device manager, everything says that is working correctly, but there is no response to my touch. I tried uninstalling Synaptics driver from applications and also from device manager, after restart Touchpad is working, but than after instalation of any driver (HP, generic Microsoft or  newest Synaptics) and restart it stops working. 

 

Any idea of how to fix it? I tried even to replace touchpad with but it does the same. 

 

Thank you in advance. My laptop is not under warranty.


Intel/AMD Switchable Graphics - Is it ok to install latest drivers from AMD website?

Good Afternoon guys.

 

I have a problem with my laptop. Im trying play a few different games and emulators and for some reason they arent detecting my AMD 6770m GPU even though I assigned those games and emulators to High Preformance in the Catalyst Control Center. Of course Ive searched the web and HP's forums for answers but the only thing Ive seen was to install some custom drivers (which I prefer not to install). 

 

So my question is. Is it ok to install the latest drivers for my Intel and AMD GPU's from their own websites instead of installing the ones provided from HP? Would that solve my problem?

 

Im asking this because I bought this laptop specifically to play my favorite games and the AMD 6770m supports those games. But honestly whats the point of having this better GPU if I cant use it? 

Pavillion will not recognise HDMI connection

Hi,

 

I'm trying to connect my Pavillion X2 detachable to an external monitor via USB micro, but my pavillion just won't recognise that a cable has been connected.

 

There is no noise at all to signal that a cable has even been connected, and nothing happens on my machine at all. When I choose the source input on my TV, it just diaplays 'NO SIGNAL DETECTED'.

 

I've tried updating the audio and video drivers for my machine, and nothing.

 

All windows and HP updates are up to date.

 

I know that the HDMI cable works, as I've checked that on a different device, that DOES connect to the TV. I'm confident that the micro to HDMI adapter works, as it's brand new from the electronics store today.

 

Any ideas?

LCD Pixilating (SP) only during windows.

My laptop had water spilled on it...shut it down immediatly.  Replaced the Keyboard. still pixilating, replaced the Motherboard, still pixilating.  When I run the HP DIagnostics for the display, no problems, all of the utility screens do not have any problems with pixilation.  I updated all AMD drives, Bios, windows updates etc, still having the problem?  ANy thoughts other than trash it?

 

Screen blinks and freezes

I got this computer a month ago. Since the first day the screen goes black for like half a second and then comes back on at random, multiple times per day. After I allowed some windows 10 updates to install, the frequncy of blinking dropped dramatically from 50 times a day to once a week. But lately, the cursor and display freeze to where I end up turning off the computer using the power button and when it powers up again everything is fine. Are the drivers the problem? I see the following updates available on my HP support assistant but I'm not sure which would be helpful or harmful:

Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Client Driver
Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver

Should I just assume all drivers are helpful and downoad whatever shows up... all the time? I'm a little lost becuase I heard bad things about downloading the wrong drivers and I don't remember approving driver updates on my previous HP envy notebook.

The tablet has colorful vertical lines across the whole screen. The background is black with the colorful lines. It turns on and displays the lines then turns of.
