I have a dv9500 laptop. It worked wonderfully up to five months ago when the screen started having a bad connection due to the cable wearing out at the hinge. I replaced the cable and everything was fine. A week ago I turned the system off and the screens backlight turned on, but the screen did not. I pushed fn+F4 and nothing happened. I closed the monitor and reopened it, at which point the back light became a single line at the top of the screen. I turned the system off, waited and turned it back on. The screen and it's backlight never came on again.
The system works fine on a second monitor plugged into the HDMI port.
I don't use a battery since I hook the system to main power always. I unplugged and pushed power for 60 seconds. Plugged in, tried again, same problem.
I decided to replace the Inverted due to no one ever hearing of my problem. I assumed that perhapps that would fix the problem. It didn't. So I replaced the whole monitor. Monitor didn't turn on. I went ahead a took both monitor to a repair shop that tested both and determined that it wasn't the monitors. When I post this problem to general support forms I keep getting the 'replace the inverted' advise regardless if I mention already having done so.
I would call customer support, however as my warranty expired in '08... I can't. I love this laptop and I don't want to replace it since my next portable is going to be a stubby arm based tablet at 10". I'll be grateful for any assistance.
