Which active pen for the Spectre x360?

$

It should be an easy thing to do. Contact HP Sales with my computer information, order the accessory I would like to purchase. Turns out, not easy at all. So I'm asking here: does anyone know of an Active Pen that will work with the Spectre x360? I'm hesitant to order one via eBay if there's only a chance that it will work (HP Store and Amazon seem to be sold out.)

I contacted HP Sales. Not kidding, below is the transcript of the chat I had with a sales "consultant". To say that she is incompetent is an insult to incompetents. I can't find an email address for support to send this to, either.

Cracked Screen - Envy 15

I bought the Envy 15.6  at SGD1,599 in July 2016. The machine started to shut down on its on the 28th Sep. I thought it is some microsoft updating. Have to switch the system on a few times in a day. On the 30th of Sep, the screen cracked spider web style. The laptop was not moved at all from the previous day. Called HP Singapore for help and they said the screen is not covered under warranty. I continue to use it with the cracked screen by projecting it to an external  monitor as i need to finish my work and could not afford any downtime. Sent the machine for diagnosis on the 13Oct and they quoted SGD$321 for repair. I felt in duress because i needed the machine. There is no stress test done on screen panel or whatsoever test and i really felt taken advantage of by their customer-induced claims. In a way, HP or their servicing centre made me feel that I lied. And reading the forums here on cracked screen, HP stands firmly it is never their fault. This is abysmal attitude towards genuine customers. And my laptop is less than 3 months under warranty. Helpless in Singapore.

Unresponsive Mousepad

Hi,

I have bought a HP Pavilion Notebook 14-ab15ac six months ago and recently I've noticed my mousepad will sporatically become unresponsive until I restart the laptop once or twice. This is really inconvenient because I am always on the go, and having to pack an external usb mouse to overcome this issue is only just a temporary solution.

I think this might be a hardware problem because sometimes right before the mousepad becomes unresponsive I may be gently setting my laptop on my lap or on a desk. As well, I find that when I try to do fine movements on the mousepad such as a double click (finger tap) my mousepad registers it as a small movement instead of the light tap. This makes it difficult to select objects sometimes.

What should I do?

Should I be calling an HP warranty office since I still have half a year's manufacturing warranty left?

Thanks,

April

I have been using an HP Z display as an ext monitor, connected to my Pavilion 15 notebook using the hdmi port.

Following an update 2 days ago, the monitor no longer receives a signal from the hdmi port.  (I know the monitor and cable are ok as they work on another laptop).

Any help or suggestions how to resolve this issue will be great!

DISPLAY ERROR - red/blue/green box size of QR code showing up on display

I literally just purchased this device 3 days ago!!!!!!!!!

All of a sudden my device restarted and when it booted back up, it showed three little white dots near the middle - right side of my screen. By the time it had logged into my account, it was showing a box the size of a QR code on my screen in the same place (middle-right) it hasn't moved since. It's been about 10 minutes. Everything else is still functioning correctly. However, this display error is giving me issues as it seems to be fading in and out (brighter and bolder and then down to barely visible and back again).

I've even tried restarting my device and it is still there!!!!

*I have not received ANY error messages.

*I have only had one automatic update so far.

*I am on a wireless connection if that matters, though I doubt that has anything to do with my issue at hand.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!!!

*****Edit: After waiting a bit a restarting the device once more, the issue rresolved itself. :-D

I have an  HP ENVY Notebook - m7-n109dx running Windows 10. I am trying to use an LG 24MP48HQ-P external monitor via the HDMI port. I have tried troubleshooting the problem and have not found any solution.

Can't use graphics card

Hello, people of the internets. :3

I have a "Radeon (TM) HD 6770M"in the laptop, on the website it says i have a Radeon 330M or something like that, but in device manager it says 6770M. At first i thought i was on the wrong product, but i tried to let it identify, also tried serial, all gave me the same result with the wrong graphics card. Anywho, I'm trying to use said graphics card, but i can't. I don't know why, but the built in screen uses the intel graphics, which makes the graphics card pointless without an external screen. I was like okay, let me get an external moniter, NOPE. Still integrated graphics. I've used the VGA cable, and it didn't work, so it's either that you can only use the Radeon graphics card with only the HDMI port ( the only other video port ) Which seems odd to make it only usable by the HDMI, or you just can't use it at all.

obviously i'm doing something wrong here, so someone please save me cuz intel graphics can't game for **bleep**.

HP Pavilion TS Sleekbook 14, Windows 10, touchscreen not functioning, due to air bubbles in screen?

$

Product Name - HP Pavilion TS Sleekbook 14

Product Number - E0X70UA#ABA
Operating System - Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, Version 1607, OS Build, 14393.321

Problem - Touchscreen worked fine for years, but now no longer responds to touch and has what appear to be two pencil-eraser-sized air bubbles in it.

When I touch the screen, nothing happens. It no longer displays a round circular print when you hold a finger to the screen, although I have the box checked for the setting to display visual feedback when touching screen. Tapping, swiping, pinching, etc. also have no effect.

At the same time as the touchscreen stopped working, I noticed two blotches under the surface of the screen. They are irregular ovoid shapes, which when viewed from the side appear to have dimension, as if they are air bubbles inside the layer of the screen above the images on the screen. They are each about the size of a pencil eraser, and are transparent; images and colors on the screen show through them, but are slightly darker under them. In the few days since I have noticed them, they have not moved or changed size or shape. Touching or swiping on them has no effect.

'Print Screen' will not capture the blotches. I took an embarrassing amount of time to recreate the approximate appearance of them using 'Paint' program, and I will attempt to insert the picture below.

All other aspects of pc are functioning, including keyboard inputting, and selecting or dragging using the touchpad and its two buttons.

No error messages display.

Standard automatic updates done.

Screen is clean. Screen has only ever been cleaned with specially designed 'Electronics Wipes' which say 'SAFE ON SCREENS!' on package.

Screen has not been scratched, dropped, heated, cooled, exposed to liquid or mistreated in any way.

PC was sitting on hard, flat table when touchscreen stopped responding while I was using browser with my usual tabs open.

I wasn't doing any updating or downloading when the touchscreen stopped working; I was just reading a tab in the browser with my eyeballs and noticed I could no longer scroll up or down the page using the touchscreen.

Tried using HP Support Assistant to diagnose the problem causing the unresponsive touchscreen. None of its suggestions were useful.

I have NOT reset pc to factory settings or gone back to a previous restore point or changed the BIOS because I believe this is a hardware issue related to the blotches in the screen.

More information about what I've looked at and tried:

Device Manager > HID-compliant touch screen > General tab - shows ''Device status, This device is working properly.''

Device Manager > HID-compliant touch screen > Events tab - shows last event was ''9/25/2016 2:06:28 PM - Device configured (input.inf)''

Device Manager > HID-compliant touch screen > Driver tab - Driver Details says, ''No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device.''

Device Manager > HID-compliant touch screen > Driver tab - Update Driver says, ''The best driver software for your device is already installed.''

Updating/Uninstalling/Reinstalling drivers has had no effect.

Removed A/C power and battery from unit, held down power button for a minute to drain all power, reinstalled battery and A/C power and restarted. No effect.

When I tried running HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI program on the touchscreen, it did not display a 'Touchscreen' button under the component options for me to select, though HP's postings show a 'Touchscreen' button on their diagnostic screen shots. I ran diagnostics on other components and they found no errors.

To me, the fact that I get no 'Touchscreen' button diagnostic option implies that this pc's touchscreen is no longer recognized as existing.

However, the pc itself still KNOWS it has a touchscreen and will allow me to adjust settings for it. For example:
When I go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Pen and Touch, select 'Double-Tap' and click on its 'Settings...' button, a window pops up with a 'Test settings' option, showing a picture of a closed door. One is meant to double-tap the door image, at which point the image changes from a closed door to an open door. Tapping the image using the SCREEN has no effect for me now, but tapping the image using the TOUCHPAD surface or touchpad button 'opens' and 'closes' the door.

Similarly, when I go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings, with '1. Mobile PC Display' selected, I can still access the touchscreen 'Setup...' configuration, and, display options 'Calibrate...' windows, but I am unable to USE them because touching the screen has no effect.

Below is a picture I created (using 'Paint') about this issue:

Intel 5500 Graphics Card problems after anniversary update

$

0

Ever since I downloaded the Windows 10 anniversary update, my display has gone absolutely haywire. Weird dots all over the place, major screen tearing--it renders the pc basically unusable.

I've isolated the problem in the graphics card--Intel HD 5500, driver version 20.19.15.4360. Disabling the graphics card makes all of the problems go away instantly. However, disabling it also means I can't dim the screen, use HDMI, or my Flex anti-blue-light software; being unable to dim the screen at all also drains the battery.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, checking for driver updates, rolling back the driver to the previous version, all to no avail. I have contact Intel directly; they sent me a different, generic driver which I couldn't actually install because it said "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer."

I've been all over the forums and Google and I haven't come across anybody else with this exact problem. I have been dealing with this for weeks now and it's driving me crazy--every time my pc updates I hope this will be the one that fixes it, and then, nothing. I have been nothing but happy with my HP Envy up until now, so this is really frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.
