Your welcome box keeps popping up every five minutes. When I click on the DONE button it dissappears only to reappear minutes later. How can I shut it down? How many times can you welcome someone before they wish they never bought this **bleep** contraption?

Touchpad

I have a HP 15 Notebook . Product #:N5Y05UA#ABA operating on Windows 10 . Recently my touchpad and keyboard have been malfunctioning. The left mouse button has a sticky behavior. On whatever app and the desktop when the cursor is moved the whole page is highlighted as if I'm holding down the left clicker and moving it. There is also random clicks on whatever. I haven't gotten any error messages before or after the problem started. About 2 days after the it started I did a factory reset on the computer and had everything updated. The keyboard began misbehaving also with a very long delay with typing .

Touchpad and Keyboard

Ever since buying my HP Spectre x360 (Windows 10), I have encountered a problem where I can't use my trackpad (with synaptics driver) while holding down a key. This is annoying because I can't play games that use keys such as holding down "w" to run. I have researched this issue for a long time and found no solutions. Plus, HP tech support has found no solution. And please don't tell me to just turn off palm check, because you can't do that in Windows 10. Please, help me find an answer!

HP Spectre x360 Cracked Screen - Horrible Customer Service! Never buying HP again!!

$

I recently bought  in May, Hp's relatively new Spectre x360 Convertable Laptop 15.6" screen. I paid a whopping $2000 plus tax for it.

I use it everyday between work and home. Just couple weeks ago, I opened the screen to see a long crack across it! I am in no way rough or damaging to the device. I am always very careful with it.

To begin with, I only own 1 latop and having to send this one away for over 2 weeks, is causing me prblems with work.

As my device was still under warranty, I called HP to have it fixed thinking it would be no problem . Halfway through, they called me saying it is going to cost $500 to have the screen replaced!  ABSOLUTELY rediculous. I mean, I already  paid 2 grand for this and your telling me you won't fix my screen unless I fork over another $500?! The customer service was terrible as the woman on the other line was unsympathetic and rude and continued to repeat the same mumbo jumbo about how they can't do anything about it.

As of right now, theyre sending my laptop back - unrepaired. This means, I will be without a laptop for nother week or two until I can find someone else to fix it for a more reasonable price.

Needless to say, HP should be fixing screens for free ESPECIALLY since I am NOT the only person to have a screen crack for no reason. I have seen so many threads in regards to the same issue yet HP does nothing to help.

Regrdless, I will never be buying an HP laptop again - service is horrible and no dedication towards cutomers whatsoever.  When I get my laptop back, I am going to sell it and switch over to DELL.

So to make this long story short, I DO NOT reccommend HP products. I hope I am saving you the trouble I had.

The webcam  software supplied with the nothebook (YouCam 3.5) cannot be installed. When attempted (after d/l) the message says that software installation "is blocked because the publisher can't be verified.."   Again this seems to be because of Windows 10.

Any ideas???

S230tm touchscreen tap doesn't work

Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help. I have a desktop PC hooked up to a HP S230tm touch monitor.

Until a windows 10 anniversary update it worked flawless. multi-touch, gestures, and scrolling all work as expected.

After the Anniversary update the computer still has the touch listed in device manager (HID-compliant touch screen) and when I swipe on the screen I can see the dot that appears for touch events. However, the computer doesn't register the tap as mouse click. So I can scroll web pages, pinch to zoom, and even click and drag windows around but when I tap the screen the touch dot appears and then nothing happens. Curiously i can click/tab links in the chrome browser.

I'm unable to calibrate the screen as it doesn't register the touch (even though I see the dot appear on the screen). I tried to disable and re-enable the touch screen, uninstall and re-install the drivers (its a generic touch and uses built in drivers) and re-booted the PC. So far nothing worked.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Spectre x360 13-4196ms - touchscreen stopped functioning and HP support has hijacked my computer

Bought this computer at the first week of August.  Set it up and used it for 3 weeks.  Enjoyed the flexibility of the convertible funtion and regularly used the touch and active stylus features.

Then the touch screen and stylus functions stopped working. After multiple attempts to reactivate the features (i.e., restart, new pen battery, software updates) I contacted HP support.  My assumption was that the hardware was bad, the screen had failed in some way, because the software didn't even recongize the touch ability any more.  HP support ran me through the standard solutions, so again restart, etc.  Then they wanted to reset Windows, revert back to the shipped version of the software, erasing all my files, apps, and software that I had migrated from my old computer.  That computer had been recycled at this point.  So I would be left to start over.  My feel was that it was a hardware issue, so why go through the pain of having to reset up the machine.  After some coaxing by the rep, I relented and reset windows.  No help.  The software still could not recognize touch or pen functionality.

Next step was to send the machine in for repair.  They told me it would take 14 days.  That seemed like a long time to go without a computer.  I asked for a replacement machine.  The computer was only 3 weeks old.  They refused.  And no compensation was offered for my lost time.

Now 4 weeks later, I still do not have my computer back and have recieved no info directly from HP.  I called in 10 days ago  and after being hung up on and redialing the number 8 times, I finally got through to a live person.  She stated there was a backlog in parts needed to repair, that it would take another week.  Again I asked how I would be compensated for the fact that I paid full price for a working computer and was now going without one.  They gave me a number to call once the computer had been returned.

Now 10 days later, the HP Customer Support website still says that the computer will be shipped back to me on the 16th of September, no updates have been given to me via email or phone, and no computer has been sent to my home.

I called the number they gave me during my call 10 days earlier (I was guaranteed it was a direct line to customer service) It was a different number that went into the same automated call directory that hangs up on customers that have sent their machines in for repair.  I hit zero until someone picked up (at least 100 zeros).  They are now telling me that parts won't be in for my computer until October 24th.  That would be two months without a computer.  How is that customer service.  I asked them to just send me a brand new computer.  They said they couldn't, I did the usual and asked for a supervisor.  I'm on hold now.   If this was an apple product, it would have been replaced on the spot.

I really liked the computer while it was working, but am wondering why HP doesnt stand behind its own products and refuses to treat its existing customers with respect.

Connecting ProBook via HDMI to a Philips TV not working

I have a ProBook 430 G1 H6P58EA and an older Philips TV (http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=mx&ctn=26PF3321/12).

I can't get a signal on the TV when connecting the laptop via HDMI. I am sure I used the right port (there is only one), and I updated my drivers. Using the same TV and HDMI cable and a different laptop (tried both Windows 7 and Windows 10) works effortlessly. I have previously connected my laptop to other devices via HDMI successfully, but I have updated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 since. However, the connection to the Philips TV did not work before the update, either.

What else can I try?

It is like some one is constantly clicking on the far left of the screen without me interfering with the touchpad, mouse or touchscreen.

I have tried disabling the touch but it constantly happens.

It's really frustrating. I can post a vid on YouTube to describe the issue better

Hello, everyone!

For a couple of weeks ago my laptop keyboard started to give me two characters for some of my keys. This is what happens:

q becomes 1q
w - 2w
e - 3e
r - 4r
u - 7u
i - 8i
o - 9o
p - 0p
1 -1q
2 - 2w
3 - 3e
4 - 4r
7 - 7u
8 - 8i
9 - 9o
0 - 0p
And the arrows are acting strange.
Sometimes it does suddenly work correctly, but will soon go back to "the bad mode". My laptop (Compaq Presario CQ61) is just over one year old. What should I do? Should I do a recovery?

PS. 8I had a ha4rd t8im3e 2w4r8it8ing th8is.

8710w - Display-Brightness doesnt work

I have a similar problem which was posted to hp support an kept without answer, so i will just copy it again

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/8710w-Display-Brightness-vs-Audio-Muting/m-p/5043019/highlight/false#M175153

Hello, I recently purchased a professional refurbished HP/Compaq Mobile Workstation 8710w. My problem is: I cannot control the brightness of the display. When I use the function keys for increasing or decreasing the brightness (fn+f10 or fn+f9) an on-screen display with a bar indicating level of brightness apears, but the real brightness of the display remains unchanged at a low to average level. I also can enable or disable the brightness sensor using the function keys fn+f11. Then the systems tells me with an on screen message it has enabled or disabled the sensor, and the sensor works fine, the brightness increase and decrease depending on the light strength subjected over the sensor.

I also tried  through the battery icon, i get the brightness bar and move it to high and low, but still nothing happens.

Hopefully there will be a solution this time, i have win7 ultimate installed, and also had same problem with Vista!!

Pavilion g4-2149se (Butterfly): AMD/ATI Video Driver stops working

Hello Fellow Forum readers,

Ever since I've owned this refurbished Pavilion g4-2149se. I've had issues with what I thought was the Notebook rebooting itself. It usually fails after I click a video from either YouTube or Facebook. I get then get a blue count down screen, then list some programs and then choices of what mode I want to reboot.

As long as I don't watch any videos, I don't have an issue. I do notice that I can watch DVD's without any problems, too.

I finally noticed a message in the Action Center that read:

'Solve a problem with AMD/ATI Video Driver has stopped working 27 times last occuring on 12/09/2014'

Well, it's stopped over 100 times to date 2016. I'll include one of the many Problem Details from the Action Center:

I've come to this Suppot Center a couple of times, but I was reluctant to install any drivers because other folks were complaining about added issues AFTER they did. I return when I get fully irked with the problem.

This is my ONLY issue and I don't want to introduce any other problems into my Notebook.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light to point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.
