Using an HP EliteBook 8470p with Windows 7 and I cannot get the displayport to work. I am trying to duplicate my computer screen onto my LG HDTV. I am using a displayport to HDMI adaptor and then an HDMI cable to go into my TV. The TV recognizes the input but still says no signal. I tried downloading the additional drivers beacuse of the known issue with this particular computer and displayport with Windows 7, but still nothing.

My eyes are killing me - having updated my windows s/w to 8.1 from 8.0 the f2 and f3 keys have stopped working. I've run through the s/w scan on support to check drivers are up to date and this seems to be the case. Can anyone help - the laptop is all but useless for anything other than short periods of time because the screen is so **bleep** bright. This seems to have been a regular issue for several years (from other similar postings with earlier operating systems and I find it incredible that HP don't have a more robust solution for this by now.

My laptop is HP Touchsmart tmt2-1000 with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 (plus the "!" symbol) and Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family. It used to connect to HDTV thru HDMI normally on win7 2 years ago.
I installed windows 8 and then upgraded to windows 8.1. The two monitors I have can connect to other laptops thru HDMI. I can only connect them to my laptop thru VGA only (1920x1080) because HDMI is not recognized (no signal).
I had ths bright idea to try and use my tablet as a second monitor. I went to Personalize and chose to extend my display. Nothing happened. It didn't ak me to connect anything so I decided not to try to do it. For some reason that I can't explain right now, I went back in and chose to uncheck the "extend" option.
Well, to do that, I had to choose either the "Monitor" or the "Built-In" option. Being the half informed person I am and half asleep, I chose the wrong one. (I think I chose Monitor but I'm not 100% sure). The result is a black screen and I have no clue how to get the picture back.
When everyone is done laughing at me, could someone please tell me how to fix it? I have an article to publish in 13 hours and it's a whole lot easier to do it on my laptop than my tablet.

Sometimes when viewing dvd's on my hp dv7-3183cl laptop the screen goes gray. What could be causing this?
How can I get the screen (under the address etc part) go full page??? It has suddenly shrunk and you can click on anything as they think it is still a full screen.
I had a DV9205US, until last night when I tried to hook up an EXTERNAL MONITOR to the notebook, it started to smoke! No power was turned on for the notebook or monitor. The monitor had a power cord hooked up to it and the notebook had the power supplied with the unit! I'd had never hooked up an external monitor to the notebook since the day I bought it at FRY's.
I recall HP having problems with the video etc., from day one regarding this particular notebook! I believe this was one of those unfortunate units. As I stated NO POWER was turned on and yet it took a few seconds for me to smell that something was melting so as soon as I saw the smoke coming from the VGA port I knew something wasn't right! And there is NO way anyone is going to tell me that this is something that should have happened by connecting a monitor to an external VGA port. I expect to hear from HP to make arraigments for the shipment of this OUT OF WARRANTY but none the less DEFECTIVE NOTEBOOK WHICH I PAID OVER $1200.00 several years ago.

To say I'm pissed is an understatement! Had I have owned the unit for 50 years there is no way in HELL anyone is going to tell me that simply by pluggng in a VGA monitor cable into the notebook it should, would, could, have a melt down! That should never happen under any circumstances for the life of the notebook! Any computer a consumer purchases should never have what happened to me under any conditions. There was simply something faulty and the only company to blame is HP! This notebook operated great and ran likewise for the entire time I had it until last night! I don't care if it's replaced with the same model as long as the spec are the same or a different model! I just demand that it be replaced by HP! Let me also state that I'm the only user this notebook has ever had, and I've never modified or changed anything on this notebook since I boughtit! And YES I do have the original receipt!
One last note I came on the web site to look up all of the recalls etc., for this unit and now there aren't any? BULL**bleep**!

I've got HP ProBook 4740s with AMD Radeon HD 7650M.
I had some problems with video drivers when I bought it and installed Win 7 x64 on the laptop. To be exact, none of the fresh ATI drivers I downloaded from amd.com worked.
Finally the issue was resolved when I installed some old drivers dated 2012.
For the games I want to play these drivers are too old, so my question is how can I install the new ones from official AMD site? Previous time I had to reinstall Windows many times to finally achieve any performance at all.

I've just upgraded my daughter's Envy m6 from Windows 8 to 8.1 and HP Assistant has recommended installation of the driver package sp63641. However, after successfully downloading the package on several occasions the programme fails to install.

So Ive had lots of trouble with my built in webcam. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Now it is showing in devices in control panel, but cannot get it to work. Also the light that usually comes on when the webcam is on, is now always on. Please help, any advice appreciated.:)
I am trying to connect TV to my laptop using HDMI port, but when I connect TV is not detected by my laptop. As it cannot detect TV I cannot use the external monitor function to switch to TV.
I checked the used guide it says simply to connect TV using HDMI cable and it should work.
I tried to check in device manager but i cannot see anything related to HDMI there.

I would like my HP ENVY m6 to link with my HP Wireless TV Connect, QE389AA#ABC. I am using Windows 8.1
The PC Adaptor and TV adaptor are connected per instructions. Turned everything on and waited more that the recommended 5 minutes. On my flat screen TV I see the word “linking”. The blue light on the TV Adaptor is blinking. I assume that means the TV and the TV Adaptor are working together. After a few minutes the blinking stops. I see a blue screen with the words, “No Signal”.
I assume the computer recognized the PC Adaptor because in the control panel I see an image representing the HP Wireless Video Transmitter also when powered I hear a tone from the computer, but no blue light from the PC Adaptor.
My guess is that the PC Adaptor is not sending a signal.
I followed the directions from a Solution in the HP Support Forum to disable the HID-compliant vendor. Still not working. Transmitter and receiver are not working together.
I am at my wits end. Sure would be nice if these HP products worked together. Must be something simple I need to do. Any suggestions?
never will bye a hp laptop again got this 6 months ago.and it doesnt work at all. cant watch videos and watch tv had to recover it 3 times now. pictures are blury its awful and iam very upset wish i could return it
Pavillion dv6 7010us laptop, It comes up and is oscillating, the sys says to select an operating sys to boot up. The windows 7 selection is oscillating and I cannot select it. I have to power down and up again until it finally does boot up correctly. Also once up and running after about an hour the window I am in it starts to oscillate again and I annot do anything, have to power up and down again until it boots correctly. I cannot run sys diags it hangs, also cannot get into biod it beeps.
Anytime I try to stream a video it plays choppy and the sound cuts in and out as well as constantly not being in time with the video when it plays. This makes it very hard and annoying to watch anything. Any solutions?

Hello. I have an Hp DV6 laptop. About a month ago I closed the screen and I reopened it but it wouldn't start up. I first connected it to an external monitor and it did display. I've tried hard resetting it with no luck. I've ordered a new screen becuase I thought the backlight was out. It came in today. The screen wasn't that hard to put in since it only required disconnecting a cable. STILL no luck. Any other options? I'm out of warranty so I can't afford to send it in right now. Thank you
