I am working on my sister-in-law's laptop attempting to connect a 2nd monitor. I have just replaced her RAM to 8 GIG (factory was 4 GIG) and thought it would be easy to just hook up this second monitor. We purchased a DVI to HDMI cable, hook the cable up to the monitor. Make sure there was power to the monitor. Then I change the display settings to mirror the displays. The second monitor turns on and shows the display however it in a split second turns black. Power is still on for the 2nd display however it just displays black. The graphic card I have in the HP-15 touch screen is the amd radeon (tm) r4 graphics. I am wondering if I turn off the touch screen ability would it work or if anyone has any tips to get this second display to work please let me know.
i have no update download of touch pad
I am experiencing a pause in notebook display for about 1 second, occurring every time input starts. This occurs when typing, where the key presses are still being captured, just the display doesn't show my typing/delete, then spits it all out at once... interestingly, this doesn't seem to affect continuous scrolling using the arrow key to scroll back over the words I am typing. Nor does it occur if I hold down a key and type in a repeating character. in both scrolling and continuous charfacter, it pauses at first, then displays output from the key presses held in memory, then continues to display the normal arrow scroll movement or continuous characters display while the arrow/character key is held down.
This also affects scrollbar scrolling in the same way.
I have read quite a number of forum articles indicating this may be due to conflicting hardware drivers, but nothing for sure.
Is there a log file or diagnostic that I can run to indicate what is causing this behaviour?
Additional info is that I am running Win7 as a dual boot in addition to the store-bought installed Win10. There is no problem in the Win10 installation, which is why I believe this is software and not hardware. I purchased the machine about 1 month ago. This is super annoying and preventing me from creating video capture training materials, which was the purpose of purchasing it.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Regards, Randall.

I have the same issue, has a solution been found? I have a rather large mark, like the edges of a rounded square of around 5 cm high to the left of the centre of the screen, where the HP logo starts on the back. It looks like there is something behind the screen shimmering through...
I've been having various issues since I've had the laptop, one of them being that it is crooked, another is that on start-up, it'll flash some sort of static lines (like a screen/graphics malfunction) for a second or so before going to Windows. For a while it also flashed these lines at random while I was working, but I suspect that may have been a driver issue.
On the whole, I'm rather happy with the laptop, but the different issues are very worrying, I don't trust that it will last very long, especially because there seem to be issues with the build quality. For a laptop this expensive, I had expected much better, especially since my HP Pavilion dm1, which was only 400€ or so, lasted me a solid 4 yeard and never had any build issues whatsoever...

HOW DO I ENABLE CLOSED CAPTION WHILE WATCHING A MOVIE?
I just bought 2 new Envy 360 computer's, and neither of them will allow me to turn on the auto-rotate. Whether I'm in tablet mode or not, I cannot auto-rotate the screen. Any suggestions? I've seen other posts about people having this problem, but no one has received a solution... Does HP just not know how to make software that works?
Thanks,
Jessica
After the BIOS Update yesterday my secondary monitor has not been working. The computer fails to detect it in Device Settings. Since this has happened, I have:
Unplugged/Replugged Cables and made sure everything powers up (when plugging the HDMI from the monitor into the notebook the monitor cycles through Analog and HDMI a few times and goes to sleep so it's getting a connection)
Have tried two HDMI cables, one brand new
Attempted to update drivers, was told that they were updated
Downloaded new drivers from HP Support Assistant and Installed, Rebooted
Rolled back the BIOS to the previous version
I tested the monitor on my MacBook and it works, so it's not the monitor
and the notebook still does not pick up my monitor!
PLEASE HELP!
I've had this computer for a month and so many times I've almost thrown it out the window. I can be sitting across the room from this thing and for some unknown reason it just clicks onto websites on it's own. I dont even need to be near it. If this thing clicks onto some porn site, I'm going to get seriously mad. I'm going to get my old Vista machine running again, at least I felt some control over it.
I need a screen removal guide and replacement part number if possible.
My screen has been flickering and glitching up for about two months now. It is getting progressively worse. I think it is overheating, even though I'm using a laptop cooling board for airflow. This YouTube video demonstrates the same issue I'm having, except mine is more severe. Is my computer dying? I just bought it in Feb 2016. One of my hinges is also coming loose.
Additionally, I noticed my Spectre screen has a small crack in it as of today. I haven't dropped it or stepped on it or anything. I have been extremely careful, as this is by far the most expensive computer I've ever owned. Anyway, now the touch screen doesn't work on the side with the crack. A lot of people are having the same issue (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/cracked-screen-on-spectre-x360/td-p/5112381/page/1). Is this covered under warranty? If not, how much would it cost to repair and how long does it usually take.
I have a brand new HP Pavilion with a touch screen. Out of the box I noticed there was a white speck on the screen which I couldn't wipe off. When I turned the screen on the speck appears to be black. The speck returns to white when the screen is on, but displaying something dark. This seems to me to be strange behavior for a dead pixel, but I don't know anything about the new touch screens. I found a 'dead pixel test' online, and against red and green backgrounds the speck appeared black, while the test would indicate that it should appear white were it so. I think that the speck seems to be 'above' the rest of the screen slightly. Does anyone know what this is?
Just today, my laptop won't let me adjust the brightness, and has completely removed the option to. I am currently running on Windows 10 (64-bit) and again, just today out of nowhere does not let me adjust the brightness. The laptop battery is completely dead (it doesn't work without being plugged in) but this issue has never affected anything. I would really appreciate some help with this ASAP as the screen is damaged enough already.
Thanks
UPDATE: The laptop has now completely gotten rid of the option to sleep.
Two weeks ago I purchased an HP Laptop Note Book 15-ac 184 TU. I Tried to open Web Cam. I find is no Web Cam Device in the Device Manager. So I tried to install You Cam from HP Support site.
