I recently bought a HP Envy 13-D110TU notebook.  As this has no optical media drive I later bought an HP F2B56AA USB-connected external CD/DVD writer to go with it.  The drive shipped with a CD in the box containing a number of software tools - I don't have the disc with me but I think they were Cyberlink software, including Media Suite, Power DVD, and a couple of others. The problem is that nothing will install from the disc. When inserted in the drive it shakes and shudders as though the hole in the disc is off-centre, but that's all I get.

 

First off, I don't know whether I even need to install these - they may be necessary to use the drive but they might also just be bloatware.  If they are required, is there anywhere I can download them from?

My product is less than 3 months old, has not been mis-handled or abused in anyway, on the contrary as it was a very expensive purchase for me I have been exceptionally careful with it's use been mainly reserved to my desk. I am shocked and dissappointed to find it has developed a cracked screen overnight, virtally witout any apparent reason!! Upon reading this forum it appears to be a defect in this particular model. I am at a loss on the best way forward. Please help, this is definitely unexpectable for such a high end product.

Hi Everyone..

I've been using my HP 15-g049au since last one year. Few days before I got problem with my display.

When i switch on my laptop it boots normally, but the display is not coming. After several attempts, dispaly is coming properly.

I've tried connecting another desktop monitor with my laptop via HDMI cable and that's working fine.

When i contacted HP service center, they said there's an issue with mother board and I have to change it.

Is this really motherboard issue or display issue?? bcoz, i got proper display when i connected another monitor.

The LCD on Pavilion DV4-1131TX is not working light is too dim to read the content. I understand from my research that the most likely cause of death is either an inverter failure or a backlight failure.

 

The possible soluiton I got over the internet is LCD inverter is not working, now the question is how would I know the part number or if I go to HP care center how much approx they will charge me.

Some of the symptoms:

• The image is displayed on an external monitor.
• I can see the image on the laptop LCD when I point a flashlight at it.
• Other components in the display lid (the logo LED, the wireless antennas) are working.
• The backlight sometimes lights up for some milliseconds when It boots first time.
• The backlight lights up for some milliseconds while I open or close the lid (when the lid is opened at 20–30 degrees).
• There were no signs of a display failure prior to it going black.

By the way, I'm running Windows 10 32-bit i.e. running from past 7+ months.

Only change was to plug in monitor - it did ask if I wanted laptop screen to mirror monitor - said no - when I disconnected I just unscrewed connector and on repower got onscreen response. Can see screen only with flashlight shined at oblique angle

I was given a 23 inch Dell Monitor to connect to an HP 2000 Notebook. The cable that came with it isn't compatible with the notebook as it's about 4 years old. Which display port would work for me?

Hi.

this laptops comes with switchable graphics: ati mobility randeon hd 5470 and intel hd graphics.

 

ATI card recently failed, and shows only black screen.

I want to use permanently the intel hd graphics which are working fine.

only way that succeeded is boot into safe mode and uninstall ati graphics card.

Problem is, when I log into windows, it tries automaticaly to install again the ati card driver and when it does, black screen again and i have to go all over it again.

is there a way to disable this behavior and have by default windows using intel hd graphics?

I've tried everything i can but every time my computer tries too install the ATI card again. Really frustrating. waiting forward for a reply.

(i've checked a similar thread in here but it was no help, and my graphics card has failed permanently as it seems)

I have a HP Split 13x2 model E3A10AAR.  I'd like to upgrade my graphics card (Intel HD Graphics).  First of all, is it possible to change the graphics card and second, does anyone have any suggestions for a good one?  Thanks in advance!

I haven't had too many issues but occaisionaly the screen flickers.  My biggest question is I am looking for advice on how to get the screen to rotate into tablet mode when it is flipped and have the keyboard and trackpad turn off.  Do you have any advice?  I am using Ubuntu 16.04.

Hello there. 

I just bought 40 pin led fullhd IPS display with s.n.: N156HGE-L11 and i replaced old hd ready samsung display. Problem is that led data pins on new display are on place where on old is "No Connection".  I want to ask if i can get this "no connection" pins to "data connections pins" with any way. I mean if is it possible to set it up from my gpu or something like that or even if i can run new display on lower resolution.

Hello, all others hotkeys work(volume, light the keyboard, etc) but the brightness change button dont work at all ! i tryied to install graphic card from drivers and nothing changed

  Hi all

Ive just purchased a 2nd hand pavilion notebook that i cant seem to reformat. My problem is the keyboard arrow keys, up down and right no longer work only the left arrow does. Someone else has changed the boot order so i cant revert it back to boot from cd rom without the arrow keys. As im here in australia i dont have access to new keyboards. Can you give any advice. thnx in advance.

Dear HP,

 

I am also facing the same issue with vertical lines on my screen. it is not consistant, but happening more frequent. So far I have not been able to find a resolution for the issue. also HP support has not been able to find resolution.

 

Sometimes after few minutes the screen unfreezes and gets back to normal.However in a high demanding work environment this is not acceptable.

Please help to resolve.

Hi guys

So the incessant windows 10 finally tricked me, if you are unaware the red cross on the wondows 10 pop up now applies a reccomended update instead of the usual cancellation, a rather underhanded tactic by Microsoft.

Unbeknownst to me i clicked that that boy.

My 2011 HP DV6-6052 EA now won't allow me to switch graphics, it registers mt card as a 7400 which it's not and depsite numerous attempts at other drivers i can't get it working

I can't seem to find a bios update or anything.

Any help appreciated before i turn to a bloody apple

I use an HP ENVY Notebook - m6-p114dx (Touch) (ENERGY STAR) with windows 10. When I move my touch pad I can not press down a key at the same time. This is not very useful to gamers such as myself. I have searched for a bit now to find a solution. I have tried the smart sense solution, palmcheck solution, and many more. Please if anyone finds anything just say something.

I have an issue with my screen display on my HP Pavilion, it was stepped on and now boots up to only a horitontal flickering colored lines. It was closed at the time when it was stepped on. My question is do I just replaced the screen or does the problem go deeper? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
