Operating  system- Windows 8

Product name- hp15-n010TX

When i close the laptop  without shutting down it shuts down automatically and while switching the laptop off and on, a small blue colored box appears.

Why is my brightness unavailable?

Before I updated my laptop I was able to go into the charms, go into settings, click on brightness and a slider would pop up and I could change the brightness.

But now that I have updated to Windows 8.1 the brightness is 'unavaliable'. (See picUnavaliabe Brightness.png)

How do I ger this to work again? The brightness is starting to hurt my eyes.

P.S the brightness buttons on my keyboard (Fn+F2/F3) do not work either.

I am having a problem with the display driver on my computer that causes it to freeze up, the screen goes black, and then an error message appears telling me "Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered." When the problem happens again, the computer completely crashes and hang, and Upon restart, the computer informs me that Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown.

HP G7 Laptop screen wont turn on!!! Help!!!

I was on my laptop and it gets pretty hot and well to make a long story short I fell asleep on my bed while browsing the web.  I woke up and the screen was black and I thought it was in the sleep mode so I moved the mouse and nothing happened.  I tried to restart it by holding the power key down and i can hear noises out of it, and it still gets hot but the screen stays black and the only lights that come on are the power button light and the f12 wifi light which is orange.

Please help!  I use this laptop for everything and I am unemployed and it's a big use for me to find a job!  Please!!!

It's about 2 1/2 to 3 years old at the most and I am a big fan of HP although I've had a lot of issues with this laptop.  I truly hope someone can help me out.

As I said before, only the power button lights up and the wifi button (f12 key) which is orange are on.  I tried via hdmi cable plugging it into my television to see if I could see what was going on and it will not connect to anything.

Envy 17 - Intell 4600 Video Output Fails after Windows 8.1 upgrade

I am using an Envy 17 with the i7 processor and Intel HD 4600 Video.  After recently upgrading to Windows 8.1 (why I will never know) the video driver is now not working and I cannot use my HDMI port to use another monitor.  I have tried the HP Support Utility and the driver it recommends fails on install.  I have tried Intel and the most recent driver does not work.  I have even tried the intel Beta driver for this video card and it says my system is not registered for this driver and shuts down.  I have even tried the drivers that HP recommends from their Hardware Upgrade information and it does not work.  Does anyone have any suggestions that DO NOT involve going back to Windows 8.  I have so many programs installed I do not want to have to reinstall everything after a system restore and the HP Support Utility only saves the last restore point which is after I upgraded.

Thank you ahead of time.

HP Pavilion 11 X2 video driver vs. Windows 8.1

I just updated my brand new HP Pavilion 11 X2 to Windows 8.1. I can't seem to use the HDMI connection to display on my TV; I believe this is a driver issue, but upon following advice to reinstall the Windows 8 driver in a different forum, got an error message that I did not meet the minimum system requirements to install the driver. I'm getting a bit fed up with this whole business; can someone please send me a link to the correct video driver?

Hp Touchsmart 15 - Damaged Screen

Product: HP Pavilion Touchsmart 15-n090sa

I received a HP Touchsmart as a christmas present. I set this up on Xmas day and used it for the second time yesterday, on opening the lid (pulling up on the lid in the middle) I heard a cracking noise. Once I had the lid fully open I was presented with a number of large cracks starting at the top of the screen going down the middle towards the bottom of the screen. Now as you can imagine I was rather shocked as I have mentioned this is only the second time I have used the laptop.
I could understand if I had dropped the laptop etc, but I haven't. There is no damage to the laptop outer casing (top, bottom etc it still has all the cellophane around the laptop that it is covered in during transit).. My only thought was there must have been some sort of manufacturing defect in the screen or maybe a small hair line crack before I started to use the laptop.
So I first of all I approached the vendor where I purchased the device from, they advised me to contact the manufacture (HP).. I spoke to an HP Technical Support agent, described what had happened with the laptop advising that it had only been purchased on the 14/12/2013. The agent proceeded to advise me that the manufactures warranty doesn't cover accidental damage, ok fair enough I thought I haven't accidentally damaged it (unless opening the lid of the laptop could be classed within this category). I advised that I haven't damaged the laptop, there's no mark on it (to be fair if I had damaged it myself I wouldn't have rang HP). The HP call agent continued to advise that the fault wouldn't be repaired under warranty and I would have to pay in the region of £300+ for the repair.

I would like to hear the opinion/experience of anyone else that has had any issues with HP Laptop screens and if they were repaired under warranty. Also I would like to hear the view of any HP representative on this forum. I can provide any photos required of the laptop damage if required.

Thanks for your time.
